Shhh! by Barroux is a rather adorable little nighttime story for kids that is meant to help them fall asleep at night. Supposedly. And I think, depending on how a parent chooses to read it to their little ones, it can do precisely that. But it is by no means my favorite bedtime book. In an almost similar fashion to Goodnight Moon, Shhh! takes readers on a journey through a bunch of creatures and things that are all going to bed.

I had an enjoyable time reading this book and deeply enjoyed some of the illustrations, particularly that of the giraffes; no spoilers, everyone, but the way they're pictured sleeping is utterly adorable. In addition, I found the commentary on the sheep rather hilarious. Of course, that last bit I don't fully expect most young children to get the humor of.

All in all, it's a pretty cute bedtime story. There's nothing incredibly remarkable about it and I do wish that the phrase "shhh" had been used a bit more often as I feel that would have been more in line with the title and the vague "promise" that the book will get all the little ones to sleep. I dunno, I just feel like saying "shhh" repeatedly in a soft and whispery tone is likely to put anyone to sleep. Or maybe that's just me.

Beautiful illustrations for this story. I'd purchase this for little ones as the story isn't very long. I think my son at 3 is too old for it but it is a lovely story none the less.

Cute little book. Thought it might be good for my granddaughter but she was too old for it. We had fun reading it anyway. I recommend this for kids who can’t read yet. Thanks to NetGalley for the free download and to the author and publisher.

A nicely illustrated book for quieting down at bedtime. The lion brushing his teeth is pretty dang cute, and I appreciate the note that the sheep are not getting ready for bed, but sitting quietly as they wait to be counted. Just a pleasant, cute title.

Beautifully illustrated book, calming and soothing words for bedtime. A great story, a little boy observing the world closing down at bedtime showing darkness and how others go to bed at night, leaves some things for children to imagine, a lovely bedtime read.

What a beautiful book. Simple illustrations, favourite animal characters and a calm peaceful bedtime routine.
This is a lovely book to share with young children getting into a bedtime habit. I could still read it and enjoy it with my older children and I think now, they would appreciate how simple and stunning the illustrations are.
The text is rhythmic and children will soon be reading along with their parents.
Such a wonderful book. It is on my list to buy for friends with young children.

This delightful bedtime story will lull even the most reluctant sleeper to sleep.

"Night falls...It is late. Close your eyes. Time to sleep."

A small child listens intently as the world shuts down around him. He envisons the moon tiptoeing up to the sky, a polar bear curled up on an ice floe readying itself for sleep, a lion in pyjamas brushing all of his teeth, and a herd of giraffes snugging down on soft, pillowy clouds to get some rest, just to name a few.

The child's whimsical imagination combined with the simple lyrical text are a perfect combo... one that is guaranteed to lull your child to sleep. The illustrations are vibrant, humorous, and very kid-friendly. The book soothes, calms and invites your child on a journey culminating in Shhhhhh! Sleep!

Shhh! by Barroux is an enchanting children's books published by Quarto dedicated in particular to toddler and for let them appreciate the moment of bed-time.
You know: a kid wouldn't never want to go to bed because life is too exciting and beautiful; a continuous surprise and the world a territory perfect for a little explorer.

Just: it is necessary some rest also for the bravest kid of this world.
And nothing will be more beauty than this hymn at a good-night starting with a kid to bed but traveling also in the world and so passing through a lot of animals and creatures, wild, and an important moment: when they go to sleep. We meet the lion but also the Giraffe, and many other important protagonists that we are sure will let you think your kid that, if they have some rest, maybe it is better to have some as well.
A dreaming book speaking of peaceful lands, where children are friends with animals and where nature is treated with respect, imagination and love.

I thank NetGalley and Quarto for this eBook.

This is a really cute, simple bedtime story for a very young child to help them get to the Land of Nod. I personally loved the moon tiptoeing to the sky and the lion brushing his teeth.
A very short, quiet little tale. I could have done with a few more animals and a few more pages to turn - it ended all to quickly!
