I loved this book, I always enjoy family sagas and how something that happens years ago can cause ripples through the generations, I particularly like the way the story is told by various people and often its a misinterpretation of events that causes the issue. After all we see things our way and not always other people.

Thank you for the advance copy.

A beautiful but heartbreaking read that explores the extremities of relationships within families. This book touches on a number of themes some of which are very emotional and will make you cry.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Overwhelmingly heartbreaking, it’s been a while since I’ve shed tears reading a book but this, I couldn’t stop them at the end! This book covers many triggering topics, suicide, miscarriage amongst other usually unspoken things.
The characters at the beginning increasingly annoying as they don’t spit out what you want them to however by the end an understanding about why is overwhelming. Overall a story about the love a family shares yet is unable to reconcile due to secrets kept that should have been uncovered decades before.
I’m not sure I’d recommend due to the upsetting topics however I’m glad I read it.

Too drawn out, depressing at times and really quite drawn out, so only OK.
Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC.

What a beautiful story. Jess and Lily are sisters who haven't spoken to each other for nearly thirty years after a family tragedy tares their family apart. Audrey wants nothing more than for her daughter's to reunite but there are lots of secrets and twists before the truth is finally revealed. Beautifully written with sensitivity and passion and it shows what can happen when the truth is hidden from your loved ones .Had this book on my kindle for a while and somehow missed reading it but I'm so glad I finally got round to it and I will definitely be looking out for some more books by this author A brilliant 5⭐read

I am in charge of the senior library and work with a group of Reading Ambassadors from 16-18 to ensure that our boarding school library is modernised and meets the need of both our senior students and staff. It has been great to have the chance to talk about these books with our seniors and discuss what they want and need on their shelves. I was drawn to his book because I thought it would be something different from the usual school library fare and draw the students in with a tempting storyline and lots to discuss.
This book was a really enjoyable read with strong characters and a real sense of time and place. I enjoyed the ways that it maintained a cracking pace that kept me turning its pages and ensured that I had much to discuss with them after finishing. It was not only a lively and enjoyable novel but had lots of contemporary themes for our book group to pick up and spend hours discussing too.
I think it's important to choose books that interest as well as challenge our students and I can see this book being very popular with students and staff alike; this will be an excellent purchase as it has everything that we look for in a great read - a tempting premise, fantastic characters and a plot that keeps you gripped until you close its final page.

A TWIST THAT WILL BREAK YOUR HEART . . . AN ENDING THAT WILL PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AGAIN.

Firstly, I'd like to thank Netgalley and Orion Publishing Group for the eARC of this book for an honest review.

Narrated by three women, Jess, Lily and Audrey (two sisters and the Mum) the reader is taken on a journey that will break your heart. Audrey is trying to put her family back together after the past has torn the two sisters apart and they haven't been in contact since they were both young girls. With glimpses into the past I found myself being pulled into this family feud that left me guessing throughout, wondering what could have happened to cause this rift. The background story (if you ignore the family drama) was very close the home for me which is why I couldn't read it last year when I was granted the eARC. This book affected me on whole other level. I was listening to the audiobook on the way to University yesterday and spent the whole time crying, with joy and sadness.

Beckerman has done a wonderful job with this book. I really loved Audrey and felt like her biggest supporter. This book really pushes home that you really should be honest with your children because without the honesty the memories became so skewed for the two sisters and caused so much unnecessary pain. The twist that happened halfway through the book broke my heart even more. After I knew what the twist was I could see the little suggestions here and there but didn't guess it at all. The ending was exactly what I wanted to happen but that last chapter was brutal.

I recommend this book to everyone that can cope with heart shattering books. A brilliant Women's fiction that I will cherish.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

What a beautiful book, although I went through every emotion whilst reading it and it should definitely come with a mascara warning! Family secrets, love, hate, heartbreak and a glimmer of hope are all ingredients in this book.
A lovely read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to review this book.

Apologies for the late review of this book. It came highly recommended to me as a tearjerker and I haven't been emotionally ready to read it..until now.

What a lovely, tender and emotionally written novel about the complexities of families. Yes, I did need the tissues but it was extremely thought-provoking too. I was gripped by the story of Audrey and her two daughters and desperately wanted them to mend whatever had gone wrong in their relationship so many years ago.
I loved the twist and the way that it all came together to a satisfying end.

This is the first book I have read by Hannah Beckerman and I will be looking out for more of her novels in the future.

A heartbreaking story, very upsetting in places. Wasted lifetimes, misunderstandings, sadnesses.
Some minor details annoyed me, like Audrey singing solo without planning - anyone who’s involved in the entertainment business knows that simply couldn’t happen, and her flying off to the States, so close to the end. A bit unlikely, and rather silly.
All a bit dismal for me.

Stick with this book because things start to fall into place although it has a slow start - and then you will be gripped!
