Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

I slogged through this all the way to the end because I hate quitting on a book when I still don't know the twist. I would've quit if that carrot hadn't been dangling. I just felt no connection to the characters and wasn't invested in any of them or their fates.

Fab read. Could not put down. Highly recommended to all. Believable characters. Great author. Will be watching out for more titles.

OMG. An intense thriller with a slight yet powerful paranormal element. Although there were ups and downs, Allen has an amazing style and very human characters. The ending was everything I wanted, a bit rushed, truth be told, but filled my expectations. This is the kind of book that grips you.

This book is definitely not what you expect when you start reading. The cover and jacket description lead you to expect a straight forward mystery/ thriller. What you get is a very unique story told by a very unique main character. You're introduced to the characters at a running start and must keep up as the action moves from our "ghostly" Keeper to the humans he must influence to save our troubled, kidnapped artist. The first sections of the book move a little slower as T F Allen builds back story and sets the readers up for events to come. After bringing everyone together, the pace quickens and the tension builds. The Keeper will surprise you in the end.

Thankyou to NetGalley and the author, T.F Allen, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of The Keeper in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
Unfortunately, this book proved not to be one for me. I really struggled to finish.

The Keeper is a supermodel thriller that is very unique. I believe it is one of those books someone will either love it or hate it because it is so unique. I myself liked the unique twist and will read another from this author.

"I was Michael's brother. That explained everything"

After destroying his most famous artwork Michael is abducted, and the only hope of getting out alive is entrusted to his 'Keeper'. No one can see the keeper, very few can hear the keeper.
The Keeper is desperate to save the only person that knows of his existence. He uses his abilities to convince a song-willed reporter who thinks the signs are from the universe, and a nun from Michael's past who believes she is hearing the voice of god.

Together they close in on a psychotic killer, who also hears voices in his head that pushes him to murder.
__________

This book is told in a very interesting way, the story is told from the 'Keeper' as he goes back and forth to direct the reporter and the nun to Michael and as he tries to comfort Michael while he's being held captive.
You don't know what the Keeper is, no one can see him nor talk to him except for Michael. And he just appeared out of nowhere when Michael was a baby.
As the story progresses you learn of Michael's tragic past and how this Keeper is connected to Michael.

The good first half of this book I wasn't sure if I really wanted to continue reading this, because it was slow and at the time I didn't care much for the characters, but i am so glad I stuck it out because the second half of this book really picked up and the ending is the reason why i give it 4 stars.

This book is definitely told in a unique way which I applaud the author for, and I think it was a strong debut novel!
I thank the net galley, the author and publishers allowing me a copy to read!

I was intrigued by the synopsis, but I am still not sure what to make of this story. The twist was unique, but one I am still not sure how to feel about. I plan to take a few days to sit with my thoughts before publishing a review to my Goodreads profile.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a ghost story .... told by the ghost. But is he really a ghost? Could he be an angel sent to watch over Michael, a famous artist who was kidnapped after he destroyed his most famous painting.

The keeper, alone, knows where Michael was taken and he must use his abilities to convince two women to look for him. One is is reporter who thinks her visions are signs and the other is a nun who thinks she hears the voice of God.

Book Blurb: Together they close in on the kidnapper--a psychotic killer who also hears a voice inside his head, pushing him toward murder. But once the Keeper learns the tragic reason he feels so connected to Michael, is it too late to save him?

This was an intriguing story... very unique in that the story is told through the ghost. There's a lot of action, many twists and turns leading to a very satisfactory ending. A bit different from my preferred genre, this held my interest from the very beginning, through the suspenseful middle, to the very last page.

Many thanks to the author / Netgalley for the digital copy of this paranormal thriller. Opinons expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

3.5 stars

I’ve never read anything by this author before and although the storyline was good, I found myself skipping through paragraphs and just wanting to get to the end. An okay book, just not for me.

I'm a fan of ghost stories and thrillers and this title looked promising. It was difficult to get into and never really clicked for me. I will give the author mad props though for telling the story through the "Keeper's" perspective. The book wasn't a winner for me, but may be for others.

Very different way of engaging the reader. Suspenseful and not predictable. Sometimes a little too much to the point but all in all a very good storyline. Would definitely read more of this kind of mystery.

The Keeper by T.F. Allan was a great story. The story of Michael and his life is interesting but his "Keeper", as he calls him, is really the main character in my opinion. There are so many great characters in this book. Sister Mary Elizabeth is devout in her faith and she loves Michael like a son. Hannah is a reporter who will do anything for a story and relies on signs from the universe to guide her. Throughout the story Hannah and Sister Mary become very close despite their differing religious beliefs. It is very curious to observe the similarity in their views even though Hannah does not believe in God she seaks the power of the universe to guide her while Sister Mary prays. The Keeper expresses his confusion as to what or who he is throughout this novel and at the end he is finally given the answer to his question.
At times this tale is a bit twisted . I feel that there is another story here when we think about Donnie, the crazy character in this book, and the life he lives.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

The Keeper by T.F Allen is a psychological thriller with a supernatural twist, and a bit of horror. It truly has it all.  Can you tell I loved it?

You don’t want to miss this one!

First, let me thank NetGalley, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

My Synopsis:

Michael Delacroix is an artist whose painting entitled “Jolene” introduced him to the world, and now hangs in a museum in Chicago. When Michael snaps and destroys the painting, everyone wants to know why. Shortly after the incident, Michael is kidnapped by a psychotic killer, but no one sees this.

Meet Sister Mary Elizabeth, who swore to keep Michael safe, at any cost, since she found him in a dumpster when he was a baby. She is the first to notice Michael’s absence and immediately boards a plane.

Meet Reporter Hannah Klein, who needs to find the truth in any story, and to find it first. Although she doesn’t believe in God, she does believe that the Universe directs her. She meets Sister Mary Elizabeth, and they discover a recording of Michael’s kidnapping. They take it to the police, but decide to find him on their own.

Meet The Keeper. You could call him a spirit, or maybe an angel, but he doesn’t really know what he is. He has been with Michael since birth, and his only reason for being there is to keep Michael safe. Only Michael can hear him when he talks, but The Keeper is able to travel into other’s minds, and that is how he is going to help Michael. By entering the kidnapper’s mind, he knows his plans. By entering the minds of the nun and reporter, he will leave clues. This should work, if they follow the clues.

You don't really want to meet the Kidnapper.  His mind is filled with anger...and something else.

My Opinions:

Can’t believe this is a debut novel. This author is one to watch!

Todd Allen created wonderful, deep, and very “real” characters, that the reader could easily love or hate. Good vs Evil, and no in-between. It was interesting to see their strengths grow as the story developed, and I think they all learned something about themselves.

The story was fresh, action-packed, and fast-paced. There were no lulls. I really didn’t want to put it down.

Highly recommend this book…..and I want more from this author!!
