Midnight Angel is a holiday story with a bit of a Dickensian twist. Luke is infatuated with someone, and someone else is infatuated with Luke. Luke ends up encountering an angel named Guy who is on a mission: “Gay boys in love. That’s my mission these days. To sort you out so you don’t end up in the afterlife wishing you’d lived your
lives differently.”

Guy allows Luke to live out different scenarios and learn the difference between being someone's soul mate and merely being their stand-in. He also learns the difference between infatuation and true love. I would have liked a bit more time devoted to developing the various personalities a bit more deeply, but though the story was an interesting concept. 3 stars.

This wasn't really a romance. It was a story of self discovery and realisation on New year's eve, helped on by an angel (still not convinced he didn't hallucinate the entire episode). There was a nod made to a healthy relationship in the last third of the book but in a short story it was too little too late to salvage the Romance. The last few lines were lovely though. Unfortunately the rest of the book failed to have this connection between the MCs.
Well written, if somewhat detached and distant from the relationship; if gay fiction with a side serving of romance (with a little r) is your bag, then this might be for you.

Midnight Angel is your typical heartwarming holiday story that’s sure to give you feels. However, I felt it was a tad too cheesy at times. Some of the lines and dialogue didn’t feel natural and I couldn’t imagine anybody saying them out loud with a straight face.

One of the best parts of the story is the friendship between Luke and Tim. When they laid it all out and decided that they might be able to make it work, I felt like they would still be friends even if it didn’t. For me, this kind of relationship is more important than a forced romance. I wanted to see more of Tim’s interaction with Luke prior to the party. We are told rather than shown his awkwardness when talking to Luke and I thought it would have been adorable to witness.

The main theme was love vs infatuation and Guy, the angel, tried to steer Luke in the right direction because it was pretty obvious to everyone that Mr. Right was right in front of him but he stubbornly refused to see.

In the end, Luke was able to open his eyes to what the future might bring. They didn’t call it love, at least not yet. I liked that they took time to nurture the relationship and let it grow. As the months go by, Luke was able to finally find the strength to say the words and the story ended in the best possible way.

Luke has planned a New Year’s eve dinner party to try to connect with Nathan who doesn’t seem to return Luke’s interest but also ended up having to invite Tim, a man who is obsessed with him. He finds himself alone and waiting for someone to turn up feeling depressed and wishing he accepted one of his friends party invitations. An angel unexpectedly appears and gives Luke an insight into his future depending on the paths he chooses. Good idea but not sure I really liked the personalities of the people in this story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As Luke is sitting at his New Year's Eve party alone, an angel appears. The angel shows Luke how his fantasy party would have really looked like vs. his fantasy version of it. Luke thought he was enamored with Nathan, but Tim's affection was right there-if he was willing to realize it!

I really enjoyed this book! Kevin Klehr has a way of writing that it pulls you in! I loved how the angel got Luke to realize a few things that he was concocting in his head, weren't really true. Ultimately Luke's hurt over his last break-up was severely clouding things. The angel gave Luke a clarity he never had before. Luke benefitted from that, but Tim did as well! A good story with all the feels!
