Written From the Heart by Trisha Ashley

This book was previously published under the title Happy Endings, and was one of Trisha Ashley’s earliest romantic comedies. Trisha informs us that she hasn’t rewritten it, simply polished it up a little, remembering the developments in technology that have occurred in the intervening decade since it was first published. I did not read the story in its original form, having ‘found’ this author more recently. I would have to say that I prefer the more recent novels, but I did find this story highly amusing and entertaining.

The story concerns romance writer Tina Devino. A published author for many years, she now finds her work as a literary consultant more lucrative. This is mainly due to both her publisher and, to an extent, her agent considering her a midlist author and not devoting the required amount of effort to publicising her work. Luckily she has best friend Linny to encourage her. Eventually, through a combination of taking matters into her own hands and publicity gained through her association with long-term boyfriend Russian ballet dancer Sergei, things begin to change. A bit of mystery also creeps into Tina’s life in the shape of a handsome man she keeps encountering while travelling on the underground; who can he be?

This is one book that had me laughing out loud. The story is interspersed with letters written to and from Tina in her role as literary consultant; many of the concepts proposed by her would-be authors are most amusing or even bizarre. The situations she finds herself in at literary events also add to the overall hilarity of the book. Although not a favourite of mine, I think this is a funny and interesting story that will be enjoyed by many readers.

Yet another good read from Trish Ashley who never fails to disappoint. I had read this book when first published, under it’s original title and found it no less enjoyable the second time around. An interesting storyline, and unlike so many books these days, romance in a ‘clean’ read. I hope this book is very successful.

I normally enjoy Tricia Ashley’s books but I found this rather disappointing and disjointed.

For those who say this sounded familiar, this is because it’s an earlier book that’s been retitled and re-edited, so it’s not really a new book at all.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me an ARC copy and the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my review.

I really like Trish Ashley as an author but was greatly disappointed with this book . It was very disjointed and I felt there was no real ending to the book. In fact at first I was looking for the next chapter, It was written mainly as a monologue by the main character Tina along with letters from her clients of her literary review service , This made for an interesting and unusual read, however the lack of a proper ending spoiled it for me .
Thank you to @Netgalley and Harper Collins for giving me an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

An entertaining read. I liked the style of writing and the mix of characters but I didn't think the ending was complete enough.

I liked the other novels that Trisha has written, I was drawn in by this ones cover straight away. It's so pretty! So I requested it straight away. However, I found it a little hard to get into at the beginning, maybe I just didn't connect to the characters I'm not sure but I felt like something was missing.

However, I loved the location and overall thought it was an easy read, just not one of my faves.

Disappointed by this found the ending very sudden felt like I’d missed something. Also felt like I’d read it before & then realised I probably had.

Tina is an aspiring novelist who wants to be a bestseller. When it looks like she’s going to be dropped by her publisher, she sets out to promote herself to become successful. She also works as a literary consultant helping budding authors to achieve their dreams.

A good story with a well developed central character. Although enjoyable I didn’t like the abrupt way the book ended.

I normally enjoy Trisha’s books, I found this one isn’t really like her others. Little bit disappointed to be honest. Was a good read but not like her others. The end was rather abrupt and didn’t finish off the on going story line, I actually got to the end and had to go back to make sure I hadn’t missed any pages.
