I did find this novel very gripping and I read it very fast because I really wanted to know how it was resolved. Without giving any spoilers, there was one key part of the resolution that I really did not believe and this spoiled the ending somewhat. Otherwise, it was good to see well-developed and interesting female characters and family connections.

I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

For me this was a slow starter ... it wasn't until around chapter 10 that I really got into it and didn't want to put it down. I won't spoil it for anyone but I was shocked to find out who really killed Ruby and the reason why, and also who Daniel really was. I thought I had it figured out but I was so wrong!! I think I may even have gasped out loud!

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

This is an incredible read. I was instantly hooked and read this very quickly. We follow Viv as she goes on a devastating and terrifying journey to discover who killed her sister, Ruby. The plot is punchy, fast paced and never lets up. I enjoyed the central characters and learning about their role in the plot. This is a very exciting read.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for an advance copy.

Camilla Way’s latest novel Who Killed Ruby? is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story revolves around a family trapped in a nightmare when a man lies dead in their kitchen, with his blood-soaked floor. It is a compelling journey of family secrets, lies, and ultimately a search for the truth behind the mysterious death. The tension builds with every page as the story unveils layer upon layer of secrets and complex relationships. The plot is unpredictable and full of twists, which make it an entertaining read from start to finish. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, you will not be disappointed by Who Killed Ruby? It is a page turner that you won’t be able to put down until the end.

Ok so I have mixed views on this book. In some ways it was gripping, in otherwise it was predictable.
Would I recommend yes - but I've read better - I want to give 3.5 stars but I can't so I am having to give 4 as it is nearer that than 3!

A gripping book. I could not figure the twists for the life of me. I felt like I had to keep going to know what was going on. A great read!

As usual in my reviews, I will not rehash the plot.

This was a gripping read! I liked the way that it started with a death and worked backwards to uncover "who killed Ruby?". There are some flashbacks, plenty of red herrings, and the tension mounts when the past intrudes on the present!

The writing gives a real sense of tension and confusion, and for once I did not guess the twist in the tail, so bonus points to the author there (I read a lot in this genre and am always disappointed if I work out whodunnit).

Recommended if you love twisty-turny thrillers. I will definitely read more by this author.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC. All opinions my own.

*I read this quite some time ago, but for some reason had not posted my review.

An OK but somewhat predictable mystery in which none of the characters are developed enough to care that much about. I listened to the audio version and the narrator did a good job of building tension, it’s just the narrative had something missing for me.

Honestly - I'm not sure what to make of this story - one thing is for sure though, it is well worth a read to see what you think!

I think that the students in our school library need to hear lots of diverse voices and read stories and lives of many different kinds of people and experiences. When I inherited the library it was an incredibly sanitised space with only 'school readers' and project books on 'the railways' etc. Buying in books that will appeal to the whole range of our readers with diverse voices, eclectic and fascinating subject matter, and topics that will intrigue and fascinate them was incredibly important to me.
This is a book that I think our senior readers will enjoy very much indeed - not just because it's well written with an arresting voice that will really keep them reading and about a fascinating topic - but it's also a book that doesn't feel worthy or improving, it doesn't scream 'school library and treats them like young reading adults who have the right to explore a range of modern diverse reads that will grip and intrigue them and ensure that reading isn't something that they are just forced to do for their English project - this was a solid ten out of ten for me and I'm hoping that our students are as gripped and caught up in it as I was. It was one that I stayed up far too late reading and one that I'll be recommending to the staff as well as our senior students - thank you so much for the chance to read and review; I really loved it and can't wait to discuss it with some of our seniors once they've read it too!

Brilliant. Suspenseful and had me almost guessing until the very end. Hadn’t ever read anything by this author before, But I definitely will be investing in her works. Overall a very entertaining and fast paced psychological thriller .

"You never know what’s going on behind closed doors…
If you passed it on the street, you’d see an ordinary London townhouse. You might wonder about the people who live there, assume they’re just like you.

But inside a family is trapped in a nightmare. In the kitchen, a man lies dead on the blood-soaked floor. Soon the police will come, and they’ll want answers.

Perhaps they'll believe the family’s version of events – that this man is a murderer who deserved to die.
But would that be the truth?"

Oh my goodness, I could not put this book down, it was such a great family psycholgoical drama thriller and I really felt all the emotions running through the book. Such an ordinary family on the outside, with the grandmother Stella, daughter Vivienne and granddaughter Cleo.

A great insight into the toxicity of some female relationships, and the lengths people will go to in order to hide the truth, even within families. The pace did not let up at all and the ending was superb. I cannot wait to read more by Camilla Way.

I have loved Camilla Way's writing for years, since her first novel. She is absolutely brilliant and would highly recommend this book as her best yet!

It took me a little while to get into the plot but once I did, I was gripped. There were a few twists and turns and I didn't see the twist coming. This is the second book I've read by the author and I'm excited to read more in the future.

Wow loved this. Such a gripping read, slow to start with but once gripped I could not put this down. A really cleverly written psychological thriller.

Unfortunately I didn’t love this one as much as I was hoping to. I liked the idea behind it and the storyline, but it fell flat for me. I can see why some people love this one, but it just wasn’t for me.
