This book moved so swiftly that it had me hooked from the get go. I have been typically reading police thrillers recently so this was refreshingly different.
The story revolves around Viv who found her pregnant sister Ruby dead in her bedroom over 30 years ago. The plot goes backwards amd forwards in time, fills in the gaps nicely and has you guessing who did it right till the end. Lots of suspense, fear and thrill along the way.
There's lots of characters in this story all well developed with lots of twists and turns. I definitely recommend this.

This was a very captivating book, and particularly by the end it had me totally hooked.
The book opens with a scene of a dead man on the floor, and the agreement that the man before them is the man who killed Ruby. But who is Ruby? We know she's a daughter, a sister, a soon-to-be mother, an aunt. But families hide secrets, and things are not always what they seem.
The characterisation in this book is lovely, the characters deep and rich. Were things a little far fetched at times? Yes. Did I guess 90% of the plot twists? Yes. But do I read too many crime thrillers? Absolutely, so it's my own fault. Nevertheless I enjoyed the book and think it was a very enthralling read.

Wow this is a stunning book! Very cleverly written, plenty of red herrings and omg I am used to reading these kinds of books but jeez! Some total shocks in this one. I raced through this book, there were no dull moments whatsoever. I have to admit I read through the first couple of chapters again when I had finished it to see if things were more obvious on the second reading. Just brilliant!

"You never know what goes on behind closed doors"
Wow! I was gripped by this book and devoured it within 24hours. It's a great thriller filled with clues and red herrings that keep you guessing right up to the end. I liked the way the story flowed and I found myself racing through it to find out what had happened. I don't want to say too much as it would spoil it for others, but I would definitely recommend reading this.

Three woman standing over a man’s body waiting for the police to come but what are they going to tell them? What a way to start a book! I was intrigued straight away what had happened to lead them to this moment, the second chapter takes you back to two months earlier and you slowly learn about the women and their past.
Vivenne had been the main witness to her pregnant sister Ruby’s death when she was eight years old and helped to send Jack to prison for thirty years with the support of her mum Stella. Now she is a woman with a teenage daughter trying desperately to find some happiness in her life while dealing with the nightmares that day has left her with. She can’t help but feel a sense of dread that her evidence as a child might not of been the whole truth, she is soon forced to find out who killed Ruby?

The opening scene of this book is unusual and grabs the attention. You are not sure who you’re rooting for to start with or if you’re meant to like any of the characters.
I am a huge thriller fan and I can often see what’s coming but this one kept me guessing and I didn’t pick up on things until they were pointed out!
Book is nicely written if slightly cheesy in parts!

This book made me want to go back to the start and see if there were clues that I missed first time around. I was thoroughly duped by the author and not only once. I was pretty well gripped from the start and kept guessing until the end. What more can you ask of a thriller?

Vivienne never gets over finding her sister Ruby and her unborn child dead. She was only eight and is found cowering in a cupboard .
Her testimony catches the killer but years later she is forced to reconsider - was it him? Her daughter is kidnapped and she is convinced it is the newly released killer but is it or is it someone who knows the truth?
This will keep you guessing to the end. It twists and turns at a fast pace until you are not sure of anything. Brilliant!!

In an intriguing opening scene, we see a man dead on the floor. The three people standing around are forming the story they will tell the police. From their point of view, their actions are justified. After all, he murdered Ruby! We then go back in time a couple of months and witness the events that led up to that fateful day. During this narrative we also see events from the characters' pasts which enrich the story being told. The story of Vivienne, a successful cafe owner, named for her dead sister Ruby, killed by her boyfriend decades ago when Viv was a child. The boyfriend having been convicted, mostly on Viv's own evidence. But he has always protested his innocence and when strange things start happening to Viv, she starts to doubt herself. As the stakes get higher and her whole world is threatened, can she leave her comfort zone and get to the truth once and for all?
It's hard to say much more specific about this book as the author hasn't really given anything away in the blurb. What I can say however is that this book was a very refreshing return to everything I love about the genre. The red herrings and sleights of hand were executed with aplomb. Fingers pointing at several characters along the way, slowly being whittled down until the truth came out. And boy, wow, I really didn't see that coming. Nope. Not even an inkling of a suspicion. Sucker punched me for sure. Left me reeling, gobsmacked. Well done that author!
Yes, OK, if I have to admit it, and I do for my own reputation, there were a few things that maybe skirted credibility a tad along the way but, when taken as a whole, they were relatively insignificant and didn't jar or distract, so I was happy to accept and move on.
Characterisation was great - so many well drawn people for me to get my investigative teeth into. As with most books of the genre, the author kept me on my toes with my feelings for them all along the way. The execution of the finger pointing so well done that I never felt cheated as I have with some books. It never felt like I was being duped.
Pacing was perfect and, with no superfluous padding, the story got on with itself very well. Description added to rather than distracting from the narrative.
All in all, a cracking read that I thoroughly enjoyed and which left me wholly satisfied at its conclusion. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Who killed a Ruby kept me guessing right until the very end. Every time I thought I’d worked who the killer might be another twist was added. A fantastic thriller that I just couldn’t put down.

I love camilla way’s books and was so excited to read this. I was not disappointed. The started off amazing and gripped me the whole way through. Well written, mysterious and thrilling xx
