This book had a shocking twist to it which i didnt expect. It did feel a bit long winded in some sections but it was a good novel.

After a bit of a slow start, this picks up to become a real page turner. Worth staying with it, I felt.

Many thanks to NetGalley and to the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The book started off... Fine I guess. Then it got slower and more tedious as I carried on. I finished it but not one I will recommend to anyone. Needed better editing.

Slow book took me a while to get into. Had so.e gripping parts. Didnt keep me interested enough to recommend but obviously each individual likes different books

A slow paced book, that didn't really grip me until the second half of the book. Necessarily so, I think, there's so many relationships and non relationships to take in. Viv's whole world is turned over - again - when she has to look into the death of her pregnant sister and the baby, when Viv's own daughter is in danger. Could she have got it wrong? She was only eight when her sister was killed and has suffered nightmares about it ever since.

I'm do glad I stayed with the book, it's excellent.

I read a free advance review copy of this book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion.

I found this book at first interesting but, it soon became slow and tedious. It became obvious that the wrong person was blamed for the murder as it gave a clue in the title.
It’s a shame as it could have been a great read. Unfortunately it meandered along and I found myself not wanting to finish it, but, I carried on and got to the end.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers Harper Collins for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Opening on a shocking scene of a dead man and three people deciding on the narrative of what has happened, one thing is clear, this is the man who killed Ruby. The book then goes back in time to a few months earlier and the key characters are introduced. Some chapters go further back in time, and as the book progresses, it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems. Viv was a child when her sister was murdered and was in the house when it happened. She is clearly traumatised and hasn't had the opportunity to deal with either her grief or this trauma. Ruby's mother Stella has dealt with the situation in her own way, but it seems that the family are not to talk about the murder, so even Viv's daughter Cleo (who wasn't even born when Ruby was killed) is effected by the murder. Because of the murder becoming 'the elephant in the room' there seems to be more going on beneath the surface with the family dynamic, which creates a wonderful sense of intrigue, tension and adds plenty of red herrings to the plot.
This is a great read, and as well as being completely gripping, the family dynamic adds a grounding touch to the book. There were a few plot twists that I suspected, but the ending itself was a surprise. I want to go back and read the book again to see if it is a different read with this knowledge.
My thanks go to the publishers and Net Galley for the copy in return for an honest review.

This starts slowly, however as the painful truth of what happened is revealed so is the explanation for the behaviours of the main characters.
The strange set up that Viv finds herself living in as a child and the being forced to return to in part as an adult is so well written that you feel like you are just in the next room in the commune and the emotional trauma she is clearly suffering and still living in terror of is both stifling and horrifying.
I suspected many, many people of being the murderer and the stalker leaving things for Viv and when the truth is finally revealed was proven wrong on all counts!

Slow to start but with an increasing intensity as the story builds-well worth a read

Here is a real page turner. It just start quite slow but stay with it . It’s worth it. I think this slow burning works well and add to the intensity of the book.

A slow burn and then I was gripped! The pace increased at a good steady pace and lead me nicely to the conclusion. The characters all remained true to themselves until all was revealed and it was then I felt rather disappointed. The harmony between the family that we were lead to believe had been so close was suddenly and conveniently shattered. I felt it was all a little too contrived. I couldn’t quite believe in Stella’s actions or the convenience of Margot’s response. So for me the build up was excellent but the conclusion let me down. However, on the whole a good read and I would be interested to read more of this author’s work.

Wow,Camilla Way certainly knows how to write a whopper of a book!!! I was convinced Alek had taken Cleo. I was guessing to the very end but had no idea whatsoever. Shocked me when the real person who killed Ruby was found out!! Wow just wow

I struggled with this novel. The premis was excellent and it should have held my attention. Sadly it didn’t. When I read that a convicted murderer emigrated to Canada I was left in disbelief. There is no way this would happen in modern times.

Having read Watching Edie last year, I knew I was in for a treat when Who Killed Ruby arrived on my kindle shelf, and I am pleased to report, that it delivered! The novel was very dark at times and often had my heart pounding ten to the dozen. As I read a lot of domestic thrillers, it takes a lot to really stir me, but there were elements in this novel that really shocked me, which is good, as it shows just how invested I was in the characters and their experiences.

Speaking of characters, I loved the variety of people that populated the novel; they were unique. intriguing, and fully formed. So much so, that I could really imagine them as real people, which is such a skill, and so much harder to pull off successfully than people realise.

The writing style is perfect for me. It’s atmospheric but simple, which is exactly what I like; pages and pages of superfluous descriptions annoy me in novels, and Way struck the perfect balance between description, action and dialogue, and I was sucked into Viv’s world seamlessly. I felt the love she had for her daughter. I experienced the terror she felt when her sister was murdered. It was all-encompassing.

The one niggle I have is with the ending, which is merely a personal preference as I know that Way likely did this on purpose. Everything was tied up wonderfully, so technically, it was perfect. I can’t give too much away without spoiling it, but I’ll say this; the ending was frustrating to me, which I know was intentional, but it still bothered me. I guess that shows just how invested I was in the characters and their lives!.

I think this novel has solidified Way as one of my favourite thriller writers!

I consumed this book in less than a day because I just had to find out what was going to happen. I was kept guessing right up to the end. Brilliantly written with great characterisation. A real treat with on the edge of your seat moments. I’m off to investigate more books by this talented author.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC in return for a unbiased review.
First publication by this author I've read and won't be the last.
On many occassions I thought I had seen through the plot but the in classic "whodunit" style the author suceeded in throwing many curve balls to the reader. I for one didn't see the outcome.
Nice one Ms Way and thanks again

Thank you for the opportunity to read 'Who Killed Ruby?', I was very interested to read about EMDR having recently read some articles on it. Camilla Way explained it well.

The story was interesting although I felt the ending was a bit of a let down and I was not always convinced by the characters.

I really loved this book right from the first page! Viv has never got over the murder of her sister Ruby when Viv was just a child. Viv's evidence at the time put Ruby's boyfriend Jack in prison for 30 years. But Viv has never really been certain of what she saw at the time, and suffers terrible panic attacks when she tries to remember. Then strange things start to happen, which Viv is convinced are connected to Jack, who is now a free man. But if Jack didn't kill Ruby, who did? This is a great read with a good twist. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.
