I thoroughly enjoyed this book about a family ‘s exposure to the metaphysical world. Here the author is a mother who discovers her two very young daughters have the psychic ability to see spirits. The mother then researchs the area in order to best support and protect her dhildren. It is interesting and quite informative. The techniques for centering and grounding oneself may be useful to all readers. A short read but most enjoyable.
My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review.

A heartwarming narrative of a young girl who is a psychic-medium, enabling her to communicate with those who have passed over, and her loving family who diligently research to educate themselves in a topic previously unknown. After death communication is not a well-known subject, but Faith's family put all their effort and energy into understanding it and in supporting young Faith in her pioneering adventures.

I’m a bit of a skeptic, so I wasn’t too sure what id think of this book. I was surprised in a good way. This story is about a family with children whom has psychic abilities. Whether you believe in this concept or not, the story was definitely interesting and well worth the read.

Book Court - Where I'm the Judge and Jury

CHARGE (What is the author trying to say?): “To detail one family’s discovery of their daughter’s spiritual gifts, their journey to understand about the spirit world and how to balance spiritual gifts with everyday parenting challenges.”

FACTS: As a Christian and a skeptic, I’m not really sure why I wanted to read this book. A woman in England recounts the activities of her daughter, Faith, who she believes to be a psychic-medium. She recounts how she came to learn of the spiritual “gifts” of her daughter and the types of encounters her daughter had with “spirit.” Though her daughter was only four years old at the time of this discovery, it does not seem distressing to the author. Her discussion of the existence of “spiritual churches” was rather concerning. Faith’s father remains a skeptic. Despite her belief in the “abilities” of both her children, the family has chosen to keep those abilities private as a means of protection. Her discussion of auras, chakras, and spiritual workshops was a bit far-d. Though billed as a book about her daughter Faith, the majority of the book is about the author’s dabbling with spiritual practices. Parts of the book dealing with Faith are written very poorly, cast as questions and answers. The book swings wildly between food choices, crystals, spiritual healing, and reincarnation, with no obvious organization. I did not find any value in reading this book.

VERDICT (Was the author successful?): Not guilty. I would not recommend this book.

When I saw this book i thought it would be a interested read. I have to say I was quite disappointed. The book is more about the author and he own research and journey into the world of spiritualism rather than that of Faith and her Brother Tom. Not what I expected.

Wow! I loved this book. It was fascinating reading the Waters family's story. I found that I connected with many of the sentiments she provided about spirits and spirituality throughout the book.

It was a very quick read and I found myself wanting even more. I hope the author will publish future books regarding the topics covered in this one.

Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of this book!

"Raising Faith" by Claire Waters

It was an easy interesting read. I was hoping for more stories and examples, but it does it's intended, stated purpose to help educate parents and families in this situation. It is a good 101 tool.

I received this charming book via Netgalley. Mum, Claire Waters, gives an insightful picture of what being a child psychic, or the parent of one, or in this case, two, actually means and entails for the individual(s) concerned.

I found it a joy to read and it better explained to me than other books I've read, how the medium actually 'sees' spirit and I learnt a fair bit. However, I felt it just kind of petered out at the end and I was left with a number of questions I would have liked answers to.

Biographies & Memoirs, Nonfiction (Adult)

The author is raising not one but two intuitive psychic children. She began researching spirit world and psychic mediums to help them along their journey. As a homeopathic, she is open-minded and goes to great lengths to try to understand what life must be like for her children.

As she travels this new path of learning, Claire finds herself opening up to psychic experiences. In one example, she picks up negative energy from one of her patients and needs to see a specialist to have it removed. She provides valuable tips for grounding, centering and protection and explains the importance of doing this before any psychic interaction. In fact, I have used her techniques many times to ground and center myself before my animal communication sessions.

This was a quick read and flowed easily between the stories. The book is written in first person narrative. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in connecting with others and those with family members with psychic abilities.

Interesting but short read. I already know a lot about spirituality, mediumship etc. so this book did not really tell me anything new but it does come from a slightly different angle to most books and so I am sure it is useful if you have a child that has these abilities.

This is a beautifully written book about living with children with psychic abilities and how as a family they have adapted and learned to live and work with these spirits as well as offering help and advice to other families in similar situations.
