A beautifully written book. Really enjoyed reading this. Thanks to publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read

Shari Low uses a really interesting 'sliding doors' concept in 'With or Without You,' to explore the nature of relationships, actions and consequences - and whether we are set on a destination in life regardless of the decisions we make about life.
Liv and Nate have been married for six years and sadly life is becoming routine and mundane. It is New Years Eve on the cusp of the new millennium, and as they see the new year in together, the couple finally decide to make that difficult decision and go their separate ways...Can they be sure, however, that it is the right decision?
Over the next twenty years Shari Low very cleverly explores two sides to Liv and Nate's story; in one scenario they remain together despite their doubts, in the other they do indeed go their separate ways.
The consequences of both actions make for a very thought provoking read!
I give this book 4 stars.

I flew through this so quickly! With or Without You is a slice of life book, following Liv and Noah over their adult lives. One half follows what would have happened if Liv had left Noah like she had planned, and the second follows if she hadn't. I really liked that, I was expecting it to be cut throughout the book, but I'm glad it wasn't. I think it was more cohesive this way, and you could really see the characters grow and change - undoubtedly the best part of the book.

Contentment vs. Excitement

4,5 Stars

I love those Sliding Doors plots, the musings about "what if...". Normally it is about winning back someone, having a second chance. Shari Low instead ponders the possibility of breaking up a marriage that works but not sparks anymore. Very interesting idea!

Liv and Nate really tried to make their marriage work. They talked about being dissatisfied, and then gave it a whole year to rekindle their love with regular date nights, romantic holidays, arranging little surprises, getting out of the friends zone back to being lovers again...they went the whole nine yards with it. Did it help? Not for Liv. She does not want a marriage that she is only content with - she wants excitement. So with the start of the new Millennium they call it quits in one version; and stay together in the second one.

Shari Low gave her story a lot of thought and develops two absolute credible versions. She explains Liv's (1st person narrator) feelings very well. And her writing style really suited me.

The book is split into 2 parts: the first tells the story of how Liv's and all her friends' lives unfold when she leaves Nate. Afterwards we get to read what would happen if the two stay together after the 31st of December 1999.
I think it would have been a bit more suspenseful if you get to read the two stories more parallel instead of one after the other. And I'm pretty sure Shari Low thought about this, too. But in the end it would have been just way too complicated to keep track in which version you are in now and what exactly happened to whom in which universe. And it is perfectly fine the way it is now.

As I said, we not only follow Liv and Nate, but also all their closest friends. And I totally feel like being a part of their clique after accompanying them for a stretch of 16+ years. The group feels a bit like the clique from 'Beverly Hills, 90210', because they all stay close friends with one another even if a couple breaks up. In TV shows I always think that the reason for that is simply not wanting to introduce a whole new set of characters into the story and casting new people. Here in a book I find it a but too unrealistic.

After finishing the book you inevitably ask yourself if there is such a thing as destiny and that "what's meant to be will be", no matter what.
Or is everything just a question of being at the right place at the right time; and if you miss one bus you just take another which brings you to a whole different destination?
I for myself would say the latter. Would I have made other (significant) choices in my life, I would live in a whole different country right now.

New Years Eve. Liv and Nate decide to end their marriage and go their separate ways. The choices Liv makes
Impacts on not only them , but the lives of their friendship group as well.
The book is in two halves - firstly what happens when the split up, covered in vignettes of significant events in Liv’s life, spanning several years. The second half is the same events, but this time told as if Liv had decided to stay with Nate.
I quite enjoyed the first half, though found most of the characters a bit one dimensional and insipid, and there wasn’t really any character development over the course of the years.
The second half of the book was a bit dull - it was so close to what happened already, and made the whole thing very predictable.
I think the author was going for a ‘Sliding Doors’ style of story, but I think by just retelling the same story too closely it missed the mark.

There is a time honored philosophy, that what is meant to be, will be. This book tells the tale mostly of Liv and Nate and one fateful night, but also their group of friends. Should Liv give Nate another chance and stay in their marriage or decide to go their separate ways. The book is broken into two parts, with him and without him. The journey the characters take reflects all the different journey they can take and how they differ.

I liked the ending and how everyone ended up. I don't want to spoil it so I will leave it at that for now.

I loved this - it felt like two books for the price of one! I really enjoyed the premise - how does a life (and the lives of a network) change on the flip of a coin and a decision that could have gone either way. We follow Liv through both outcomes and watch as fate intervenes. The characters were all really enjoyable and I found the ending really comforting. Thought-provoking, but an easy read, this is a perfect holiday book.

With Or Without You is story of "What If's". A young woman at a crossroads in life begins doubting her choices and takes a leap of faith, does she stay or does she go?

This is the second book by Shari Low that I've read and once again, I really enjoyed the world building and the characters. Liv and Nate are on the cusp of an agreed upon separation when Nate decides he'd like them to keep trying, to give their relatively short marriage a chance. We drop into the story at this point, and Low takes us through their journey of being apart but together.

The story is told from Liv's perspective and she and Nate navigate moving on and remaining friends. They share an incredible groups of friends, coupled and not coupled, and with their own drama. We stay with this group of friends over a twenty something years, and witness all the highs and lows. I'll admit I was a bit frustrated with Liv at times, which validates just how invested I found myself. I just wasn't sure what I had hoped for her but I do love how the story turned out. The story is told in two parts which created an unexpected and interesting twist to the reading experience.

I highly recommend With or Without You. I loved how Low honestly presents the impacts of our choices and what it means to follow ones heart 4.5 Stars!

This book is so strange. I am currently at 53% and at the end of the ‘Without Him’ portion of the book. The book feels finished, yet I’m about to start it again for the ‘With Him’ section.
I know it’s about to really mess with my head, as I feel like I have lived their lives, know their story and am happy with what I have just read (even though I wasn’t after the prologue as I was really sad that they were splitting up!). We have traversed 16 years very quickly, and it all feels like a whirlwind, but we have discovered a lifetime of stories!
I am now wondering what difference will there be in all of the friends lives just because of one decision that Liv makes, I’m about to find out…
I’ve now finished the book. I definitely preferred the ‘Without HIm’ story, it was much happier and in the end felt right. I wasn’t happy with her reasons at first for wanting to leave him; it didn’t seem enough when she still looked at him and thought he was fit, and she still loved him. However, part two shows us why for her own sanity it was the right thing to do.
The ending ties up nicely, but it felt like so much time had been wasted in the ‘With Him’ version.
I decided to write this review in two parts the same way the book is written. I didn’t want to forget about the first part once I was caught up in the second.
Overall this book has the usual Shari Low recipe of hitting you right in the gut with all the feels it has. It is very poignantly and emotionally written just as you would expect from this author!
I know a lot of people are comparing this to the film ‘Sliding Doors’, however, I haven’t seen that film for years, although all I remember about it is she’s a party planner in one of the versions, and it made me want to be a party planner for a short time! However, I haven’t read a book like this before so it felt fresh and original. I really enjoyed it as it really showed that no matter what choices we make destiny prevails.

Liv and Nate and their sliding doors story, with two stories being told side by side showing how life would be if different decisions had been made. A thoroughly enjoyable story. I enjoy all Shari Low books and look forward to any new ones. Highly recommend both Shari as an author and this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book reminded me a bit of the movie, Sliding Doors, where the same characters interacted and different outcomes ensued. Or the same outcome, depending on how you view it.
I found the story itself interesting, and the character dynamic realistic, however Liv sometimes grated on me, through her indecisiveness and how she sometimes unappreciated Nate.
It was thought provoking and had many lessons on life woven throughout the plot. Definitely a novel that makes you question your decisions in life.
