Thank you Netgalley for an arc of this book. It’s somehow got lost in my list of books to read. I’m not sure why I had so much trouble reading this book. I felt like the story itself wasn’t that interesting and the characters weren’t that likable. However there were some brilliant parts and I would be willing to read more of this authors books

New mum Louisa is exhausted so when she finds out that a surprise 40th birthday party has been arranged for her from her Facebook friends list it’s the last thing she wants.

It's great to be in a position to recommend much more diverse books to our young people at school. Building the senior school library as a place where students actually come and find books that they want to read as opposed to books that teachers think they ought to read is an important responsibility and one we take really seriously.
Books like this are such a positive move as they will appeal to a broader set of readers than we are usually attracting. Dealing with modern issues in a clear and captivating way with a strong narrative voice and characters that the students can relate to is critical as we move forwards. This book is both an intelligent and compelling read that will hold even the most reluctant reader's attention and keep them turning the pages long into the night. It keeps the reader on their toes and ensures that you give it your full attention too. I found myself thinking about its characters and events even when I wasn't reading it and looking forward to snatching kore time with it and I hope that my students feel the same. An accessible, gripping and engrossing read that I can't recommend highly enough. Will absolutely be buying a copy for the library and heartily recommending it to both staff and students.

A good thriller but I feel this book is a little Marmite. It took me a few attempts to get through it as I found Louisa quite annoying. That said, the storyline is good.

This was really two mysteries in one! A missing wife and a missing woman from nearly 20 years ago.

The way the author intermingled the two was well done and while none of the characters were particularly likeable, you found yourself extremely invested in their lives nonethless.

Lots of twists and turns that make Louisa - and the reader - wonder if she (they) is losing her mind!

Will definitely check out more from this author!

A dark and twisty psychological thriller that had me hooked from the very beginning. I highly recommend this book.

i'm not a fan of domestic thrillers, so i think my enjoyment of this book probably suffered because of that.

i did enjoy the author's writing, though. i think she has a good grip on the right amount of action and descriptions and the book doesn't suffer from the "no showing all telling" syndrome that always hinders the quality of a book for me. what i didn't actually like was the plot... and the characters. but again, maybe someone expecting a more tame domestic thriller would not have the same problems.

I found it really tough to get into - it wasn't bad, it just wasn't quite for me. I don't plan on leaving a longer review at the moment - Thank you for the opportunity to read the ARC.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

t's an addictive read which is difficult to put down as the premise is a terrifying one. Louisa is an exhausted new mother who just wants a bit of peace, so when her best friend Tiff organises a surprise party inviting many people she hasn't seen for decades she is more than a little peeved. Her first love, heartbreaker Oliver Dunmore attends and this naturally makes Louisa uncomfortable. She wakes the next day with amnesia and no clue about what happened the night before so when Oliver turns up to tell her his wife has completely vanished and was last seen at the party, she realises how important retrieving the memories is. Will they come back to her?

I have mixed feelings on this because while I found it to be an absolute page turner, I'm also unsure if I really liked it. A psychological thriller with an unreliable narrator, I feel like the characters needed a bit more work to really get you gripped and 100% into the flow of the stor.y. Not good and not bad, I think this book just didn't hit all the spots I was hoping it would.

However, I will not be writing a review for this title at this time, as my reading preferences have since changed somewhat. Louisa is a very unreliable narrator, which is both frustrating and fascinating as you're never sure that her version of events is real or true. There are plenty of twists and turns, leading to a pretty shocking ending.

I just didn't enjoy this book as much as I wanted to. I found it difficult to like or connect with any of the characters and found the repeated references to the baby's bottles and feeding habits a little monotonous.

After struggling with the first 80% of the book I found that it pick up pace in the last 20%. Overall I thought the book ended quite well.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advance copy of this title in exchange for an unbiased review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and honestly had no idea which way it was going. Great un-predictable twists and turns throughout! The description in this book is fantastic, so much so that when I was reading about how Louisa was feeling and the kind of fogginess she seemed to have in her head, I could really imagine how it must feel for her. I also love the setting of the book. It’s my first book by Sam Carrington and won’t be my last. I’m looking forward to her next book!
