This psychological thriller follows Louisa, an approaching 40 mother of a teenager and 3 month old baby. When a surprise 40th birthday party is organised for her, a boyfriend from her past turns up. Things become complicated when his wife disappears on the night of the party.
It becomes apparent there are secrets from the past between Louisa and her ex, leading him to have a hold over her. Her relationship between her best friend and husband become difficult with trust being questioned.
This book kept you guessing with a twist at the end. I am unsure of the relevance of her 3 month old baby within the story line and found a small part towards the end slightly far fetched. Overall a good read which I would recommend.

Really enjoyed this one and couldn’t put it down.
I read in 1 day.
I really loved the characters especially Louisa as I could connect with her being a mum to a baby.
Loved the ending, I didn’t give it 5 stars, as I felt the ending confused me and I found it a little unbelievable but that didn’t stop me from feeling satisfied that I had read a good book.
I haven’t read any books by Sam Carrington before but will certainly be reading her other books now.

Thank you Avon Books and NetGalley and of course Sam Carrington for letting me read this book as an ARC. First of Sam's books that I have read and will absolutely read more . Wasn't sure what to expect when I started the book, the story revolves around Louisa, a new mom, and also a mom of an 18 yr old. She admits that her new son Noah was an oops as she didn't think she could get pregnant again. She is about to turn 40, her best friend Tiffany and her husband arrange a surprise party for her, and during the pre arranging, she suspects an affair. just so happens all these people at the party, half of them she doesn't know, but one person from her past is not someone she wants to re-acquaint with. Oliver is an old boyfriend from 20 yrs ago and starts to bring up the past and force his way back into Louisa's life.
The characters are well thought out and introduced in a manner to remember who's who. There are twists and turns and sometimes your just not sure who to believe or who actually dunnit. The ending was not what I expected, so good job there. This book is a quick easy read, i did enjoy it

This was a bit of a challenge for me as I didn’t really take to the main character nor was I enthralled by the storyline.

I kept going with the book hoping that the story would improve & grab my attention but sadly it didn’t.

I appreciate the opportunity to read & review this book.

You are an almost 40 yr old mother of a teen and a newborn. Sleep and free time are a luxury. Your husband books an overnight for you and a friend at a spa not far from your house. You arrive and your friend, Tiff wants to get dressed up and go to dinner. Though you have very few friends, your husband has thrown you a surprise party. What would happen if your one friend went on facebook and just invited everyone on your list. This is what happens to Louisa. Hoping for a quiet night, she took some sleeping tabs before dinner but then overwhelmed by seeing all these people, many for the first time in several years, she continues to drink, which makes her blackout and forget everything that happened that night.
Oliver, her ex-boyfriend has shown up at the party and ingratiated himself into Louisa’s life after his wife, Melissa goes missing at the party. The trouble is that no one at the party remembers seeing Melissa and everyone seems to be acting very strange since Oliver showed up. What has really happened to Melissa? What secrets are her friend Tiff and her husband hiding?

This book is an easy read with a hint of thriller. It tries very hard to be a mystery but unfortunately the plot doesn't live up to expectations. There are a lot of coincidences and the stages in the plot jump a lot, they don;t flow or feel connected. The characters are average but there is no real depth and the basis for much of the plot is explained by amnesia.

I enjoyed this book. The story line held my interest and I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it.

I was honestly disappointed in this book. The plot was strange and convoluted. The main character, Louisa, was unlikable and unrelatable. I just couldn't get into the book and found myself skimming through parts. How can a mother forget to feed her newborn and constant be setting him down to investigate things? The ending? Seemed messily thrown together.

*I would like to the author/publisher/Netgalley for the opportunity to read to this book in exchange for a fair and honest review*

Who is telling the truth, and who isn’t? Does the main character really have memory loss, or is she just exhausted? And what about the husband and supposed BFF? Lots of questions keep you reading the book, and the ending doesn’t disappoint!

What a great mystery/thriller! The Missing Wife is a story of lies, double-dealing, buried secrets and deception. The story was put together well with convincing dialogue and a captivating mystery. I enjoyed this book and will recommend it to friends. My thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I really enjoyed this twisty little thriller, it had just enough of “is it him or her” vibe to it to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Louisa is about to turn 40 and is a brand new mother, her little Noah was an unexpected surprise but she loves him fiercely, even though she is completely exhausted.

Louisa seems to have forgotten what it was like to be a new mother, considering her daughter is now a teenager, and all of the sleep deprivation seems to be taking a toll on her, she is forgetting things and huge parts of her day seem to go by without her even noticing.

It gets to the point where she even starts to forget to feed the baby!

Her best friend Tiff thinks she needs a bit of a pick-me-up, and arranges a surprise 40th birthday party for Louisa, because she doesn’t speak much about her past Tiff is at a bit of a loss on who to invite, so she goes to the place where all your friends are, Facebook, and promptly invites all of her old school friends.

And who should turn up out of the woodwork but Oliver, Louisa’s old boyfriend and his new wife! He is super happy to see Louisa, until he turns up at her house the next day to tell her that his wife is missing!

With twists and turns at every corner, you will be wondering who is telling the truth, and what secrets they are hiding

This mysterious novel had me hooked from the start as I was anxious for not only the main character Louisa but also for the safety of her new-born Noah.

Louisa is a sleep deprived new mum to Noah, so when she is surprised with a 40th birthday party arranged by her husband Brian and best friend Tiff she is not exactly thrilled. When Louisa arrives at the party she is shocked at how many people are there. In fact Tiff has gone into her Facebook account and invited everyone on her friends list and also accepted a friend request from an ex. Louisa is alarmed when she spots her ex Oliver, a guy she dated for a couple of years during her university days, especially as he had dumped her expectantly.

Louisa struggles with her past as she has so many blanks that she has no recollection of. Louisa gets totally drunk at the party so when it appears that Oliver’s wife Melissa goes missing after the party and no one can even remember her being there Louisa is confronted with even more confusing thoughts and memories to decipher and the mystery really heats up.

My thanks to Net Galley for the ARC digital copy in return for my honest thoughts on The Missing Wife.

This was a complicated story about Louisa. She was an older mother after having her daughter when she was younger she then had another baby who never stopped screaming and gave her sleepless nights.
Her husband and best friend Tiff decided to give her a surprise fortieth birthday party. Invited was friends she had not seen for many years including a ex boyfriend Oliver.
Her party was a nightmare and after meeting Oliver again he started pestering her and told her what she had done many years ago and what Oliver had done for her in covering up what she had done.

Louisa started having dreams and then tried to uncover the secret Oliver had told her.
It was not a bad story and finished it to find out what had happened, but it was dragged out a lot. We

This book is so deserving of 5 stars because not only was it written so well, but the characters also came into a life of their own. I could feel Louisa's sense of paranoia and the her frustration at the memory loss. The author did a wonderfully eerie job at bringing these people to life. I would really like a character and then really hate them. Everyone was a suspect here.
The plot was really well constructed and the chapter organized by how many days past the party were a huge help to follow along.
Lots of twists and an ending that deserves a standing ovation.
Creepy, paranoia at its best!
Thank you #NetGalley, the author and the publisher for my free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Publishing review on Goodreads as well.

A top notch thriller; I was captivated from the start. Devoured in two sittings! Everything went on hold until I finished. High tension from start to heart-stopping finish - Sam Carrington has done it again!

2-2.5*
All I can say is "poor Brian and good for the brain, which is helping us in a stressful situation".
This is a mystery book with a strange plot. Did not like Louisa at all, how can you, as a new mom, forget to feed your son? With all the sleep deprivation, I am telling you, you can't. And the finish.... is not I wanted from Louisa.
Thank you Netgalley for this experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, right up to the final pages when it lost me a bit. The suspense was building and I was wondering where it was going but it sort of petered out a little and although I still give it a pick there were a few loose ends which I thought should have been attended to. I have read quite a few stories lately with the lead characters having chunks of time missing so perhaps it didn’t compare as well as others for me.

Great book, it was impossible to put it down. The plot has taken unexpected twist when Oliver came to Louise's life. Brian, Tiff, Melissa, Louise- who is telling the truth , who is hiding something? Fantastic read!

The Missing Wife by Sam Carrington started with an intriguing premise. Louisa shows up to her surprise fortieth birthday party. She looks around to see a room full of her Facebook friends. Only problem is these are her "friends" that she doesn't keep in touch with and haven't talked to in years. They are people she would not have invited to the party herself, and she is certainly confused as to how these people ended up in this room. Specifically, she cannot believe her ex-boyfriend Oliver is there. Following the party, the plot thickens as Oliver's wife has gone missing. Louisa is pulled back into Oliver's life and the investigation as police try to find his wife. So, here's the deal y'all. This is a thriller that involves a missing woman. At this point, this is a pretty standard genre, and you know what you get when you read a book like this. You get some unexpected twists - several of them usually, and the main character will be in some kind of trouble at some point. That's what this was, and that's not a bad thing, rather it just is what it is. For me, I really liked the initial premise. I could imagine showing up at that party and the emotions it would invoke. The rest of the story was good, and it keep me captivated as books like this do. There are others in this realm that I have enjoyed more, but this is still a decent thriller to check out. Thanks to NetGalley for the early preview at this June 2019 release.
