WOW! This is the BEST Karin Slaughter book she has written so far
It starts with a woman who works for CDC being kidnapped then Sara a local paediatrician and her boyfriend Wil hear what they believe is a bomb exploding in the hospital Sara works at
It is the beginning of a fantastic fast paced story of race, religion and white supremacists who want to rule the world
It is a novel that will have you gripped to your seat mouth wide open and wondering if you are brave enough to read the next page ...... But you will and you will read it as I did in one day as I couldn't not know what happened next??

Excellent fast-paced. You think you've created something good for the benefit of mankind. Little do you realise what other terrifying, end of world use it can be put to..

I loved this from the moment I picked it up and savoured every page. Having been a fan of the Will Trent series I was eager to read the next stage in his life and adventures.

This book was dynamic and definitely explosive. The interchangeable characters were great and I loved how the time line was short. It made everything fast paced and I was eager to find out what was being planned and I was definitely gripped by the climax of the story.

I have enjoyed all of Karin Slaughter books even those whose style of writing felt different. But this along with Tryptich will be my number 1s.

This is not my favourite of Karin Slaughter's book. It is the first of the Will Traynor series that i have read. There are glimpses of Karin Slaughter's trademark horror - real edge of the seat nail biting stuff - but it is interspersed with so much unnecessary narrative that there were many times i wanted to put this book down.
A normal day erupts into full scale terror as Will and his girlfriend stumble upon an accident when trying to find out the cause of some explosions. The first few chapters repeat events from dual points of view -a real bore for me. I felt like the author perhaps hadn't got enough to make a decent sized book and was padding it out. It was quite easy to see where the storyline was going and I thought the mystery was not particularly hard to unearth. It did pick up towards the end but for me it was less than I would normally expect from Karin Slaughter.

Having read only the very first Will Trent novel, and the short story preceding this 9th installment of the series, I thought I might have troubles getting into the story. I did have troubles, but it wasn't for all the names and their relationships and connections to Will (this is becoming pretty clear quickly) but for the way of throwing the reader into the story. There are several points of view telling the same event differently, with every jump in time and place providing a new piece of the puzzle. It took me a while to see what picture is printed on the box of this puzzle.

But after about a third into the novel I was finally 'in the flow'. I enjoyed reading about Sara and the IPA the most, even though these chapters are also the most gruesome. There are also longer parts where we cut back to Will or his colleagues, which were a little less exciting. Often they provided important background information on the IPA and all their connections, but it also slowed down the story for me a bit.

I also liked the topic of this book, it is something that is fast becoming a big problem not only in the US but in Europe, too. I just hope that everyone reading the book realizes what trash Dash is talking! Also I didn't find his mission targets congruent with his ideology. ~~~~~~~~~~Attention: SPOILER! He preaches the glory of the white man, but then wants to randomly kill thousands of people, including lots of Whites? How should that 'help his cause' or change anything for the future? But on the other hand, terrorist attacks normally are never logical. SPOILER END~~~~~~~~~~~~

A very interesting thriller with a red-hot topic. For fans of the Will Trent series definitely a must-read.

Popular characters Will Trent and Sara Linton return in a brutal and violent installment. In parts the story flips between the leads, telling the same story from a different angle, which did feel repetitive. Lookout for Cop Town crossover. Overall, a gripping whirlwind book that was a compulsive and engaging read.

I love a bit of Karin Slaughter, especially when Will and Sara are involved, so I was thrilled to be able to read The Last Widow. And it didn't disappoint. I was hooked from the first chapter. It was fast paced great story line, and the saying 'I couldn't put it down' most definitely applied here.
Highly recommended.
Thanks NetGalley and Karin for letting me read and review The Last Widow.

Karin Slaughter back to her best.. First class thriller sees the return of Will Trent and Sara Linton, trying to unearth the reason behind a very public abduction of female scientist. The search leads them into a confrontation with home grown, white supremacist terrorists.
Very fast paced and well plotted., this is areal page turner and thoroughly recommended.

What an amazing book. It is apparent that a lot of research has gone into this book
This book was impossible to put down and I constantly wanted to read more.
The ending makes you think that this isn’t the last book in the series.

#NetGalley #TheLastWidow I am a huge fan of Karin Slaughter and love the novels involving Will Trent and Sara Linton so was excited to have the opportunity to read and review this latest edition. During the first few chapters though, I thought I was not going to enjoy this book as there was lots of repetition (virtually word for word) with various characters telling the same story. This began to annoy me and is not something I've seen before in Karin Slaughter books. However, it only lasted for the first half a dozen or so chapters and then we got back to the action that I love from Karin Slaughter. Loads going on and lots of tense moments, I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book.

The Last Widow is a book that requires time but it is time well spent. I previously wasn't aware that this book is part of a series but in my opinion I don't feel that having only read this book that I've missed out on anything. Just a word of warning, though, if you're the type of person who likes to read 1 or 2 chapters before bed then prepare to read for a long time. The chapters are long and very detailed!

We are immediately thrown into action with the abduction of scientist, Michelle Spivey, by a gang of men in a van. We are unaware of their motives or who they are. Fast forward (not very far in the book) and this is when our main protagonists Will Trent and Sara Linton find themselves in the heart of the action after responding to a nearby explosion. Will is left severely injured and Sara finds herself being abducted by the same gang who took Michelle Spivey. What makes it all the more frightening is that these men are rapists, racists, paedophiles and violent. What could they possibly want with Sara and Michelle?

Despite the heavy subject matter I really enjoyed 'The Last Widow' and the fact that it is so relevant to the world today. Some of the characters such as Carter and Dash were sickening but I still wanted to read on and find out what their 'message' was.

Fast paced, full of tension and heart stoppingly good! I would recommend this wholly.

Thank you to Harper Collins and NetGalley for this advanced copy of this latest delivery from Karin Slaughter and oh my god what a delivery. Karin Slaughter is one of the best crime writers around and she doesn't disappoint here. I could not put this book down and you are grabbed into the pages from the first page and then chucked out again on the last page. A first rate story from a first class writer. Just brilliant.

Karin Slaughter is on of my all time favourite authors so forgive me if this review may seem bias.... that’s because it is.
This was once again a brilliant addition to the Grant County/Atlanta series. That being said it can also be read as a stand-alone, although you would not get all of the wonderful back story.
These are characters I have come to love after years of reading the series, so I cannot fault them.
The mystery was compelling, the cult was fascinating, and the multiple POVs were a brilliant addition. This was another great KS read!

A scientist from the CDC is kidnapped and then, whilst working in the garden, Will Trent and Sara Linton hear bombs going off. They rush to help only to be caught up in the drama themselves. Can Will throw his normal caution to the wind and get to Sara in time to save her from a group with a very nasty agenda?

I love the Grant County novels and have read everything about Will and Sara separately and together. As usual Karin Slaughter keeps us guessing, this time by putting Will and Sara right at the centre of the action and there's a great deal of that going on here too.

The themes of this novel are enormously topical and Will and Sara navigate everything with their usual gritty determination. There's a bit more about their ongoing relationship this time and it's nice that this story allows that to happen rather than shoe horning it in as an extra. Sara's parents and sister also feature prominently here, again a function of a story which doesn't need the back story of a new victim since we know the one involved here very well indeed.

If you haven't read any of the Grant County novels, you could happily start with this one as they stand alone really well, but there are major spoilers for the earlier books if you do want to read them so if you're lucky enough to have that pleasure ahead I should start at the beginning. Otherwise settle down and enjoy it - you won't be disappointed!

How? How can a human being do such terrible thing? A father, mother or anyone for that matter. It isn’t fathomable that there is so much hate in the world.
This book takes on difficult subjects. Pedophilia, brain washing, racism. And the scariest thing of all..... How easy it is to find people willing to die for something someone else is telling them. Great story with much to think about after the last chapter is read.

Once again Karin Slaughter did not disappoint with this book! The intricacies between Will and Sara are brilliantly written and I canny wait to see how their lives carry on in future books (please let there be others!). The realistic nature of the writing is very scary as everything detailed could happen. Highly recommend!

This is the first Will Trent and Sara Linton book I have read but was fine as a stand alone.
It covers a huge variety of dark topics but was a real page turner with twists I just didn’t see coming. Looking forward to reading the rest in the series
