Another great read from Karin! My main criticism is that it kept me awake reading until 2am this morning when I reached the last page. As always, I found the background details convincing along with the blend of factual historic events and the build up to this fictional plot. For me, Karin Slaughter is in the Patricia Cornwell category of crime writing, with a satisfying blend of background knowledge and research together with good plot lines and characterisation.

I love Karin Slaughter books. Right from the start of her first book I was hooked. This book is no different, and again had me totally hooked. The subject matter (terrorism) isn't my usual choice in a thriller, but because it involved Sara and Will, and was so terrifying I couldn't put the book down. This was obviously well researched as it showed in the storytelling. Excellent addition to the series.

This was a bit different and it kept me turning those pages late in the night. I love a book that pushes you and the thought that went into writing this was amazing. It made me wonder what was true and what was made-up! Very well written and everything was tied up at the end so there was no wondering what happened. Very good book.

Apparently, this novel is part of a series, possibly more than one. I haven't read the other titles so can confidently assert that the novel works well as a standalone story.

The story is gripping and the characters enjoyable. The tale is told from the perspectives of three characters, Will, Sara and Faith which creates some repetition as you switch character and have to have elements retold from a different point of view. At times it works really well and at others, it slows the pace a little taking away from the action as you wait for each character's view to catch up with the now. One other slight criticism is that the story goes into great detail about some elements which again slows the pace and detracts from the action. I sometimes felt tempted to skim these sections but did not want to miss important elements to the story so persevered,

Overall an enjoyable read.

Karin Slaughter is one of my favourite authors so I was really pleased to get th opportunity to read an advanced copy - thank you Karin, Harper Collins and of course Netgalley....... It was great to catch up with Will and Sara and see how far their relationship had progressed. This tale was very apt during this unsettled time and the growth of the far right. I don't want to spoil the book for anyone so suffice to say it was.a roller coaster ride it took me through joy, exasperation, disgust, horror and heartbreak with a bit of WTF?? thrown in too. Just buy yourself a copy and settle down for a lazy weekend of reading - you won't regret it! 5 huge, shiny stars! #KarinSlaughter #thelastwidow #mustread

This book is so depressingly possible. The angry white terrorists, filled with hate, the media boosting their signal, the anti-vaxxers struck down by measles. It feels very current, very real and very scary because of it.

I've been loving Karin's stand alone novels over the last few years but it's so nice to get back to Will and Sara, and I love how their relationship develops in The Last Widow. Even though they're apart for most of the book, it really feels like their relationship is progressing in a real and fascinating way.

I also love the building tension and the utter horror when everything is finally revealed. The pacing, and the reveals, are absolutely spot on. I was gripped, and horrified.

WOW!! Just WOW!! A triumphant return for my favourite Karin Slaughter characters, Dr Sara Linton and Will Trent, appearing in this 9th instalment of the Will Trent series. It has felt like a long wait for this but it is 100% worth the wait. Fast, furious, thrilling, topical - you name it, this book has got it. In abundance!
The story opens with the abduction of Centre of Disease Control scientist Michelle Spivey from a local shopping mall she was visiting with her teenage daughter. When the van and masked assailants first appear on the scene, Michelle fears they want her daughter but it is in fact Michelle they want. Fast forward to a month later and Michelle's fate is still unknown. At the same time Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agent Will Trent is visiting his girlfriend Sara Linton's family when they hear 2 major explosions coming from the Emory University campus where the local Medical Centre is housed. Sara and Will run to assist but come across what seems like a road traffic accident before they reach the site and this is where everything goes horribly wrong - the victims of the accident are not victims at all and Sara watches Will being severely beaten before being abducted by these people.
We then follow Will's attempts to rescue Sara and unfold the mystery of why Sara has been taken and whether it is related to the abduction of CDC scientist Michelle.
I loved that the narrative covers both Will and Sara's POV and both characters were further developed along the way both individually and within their ongoing relationship.
Once again an absolute master class and triumph from Ms Slaughter - 5 HUGE stars and I would give it 10 if I could!
Thank you to Netgally and the wonderful publishers fot the ARC - it was an absolute pleasure to read!

This is book number nine in the Will Trent series but it can be read as a standalone. The premise of the story is a USA white supremacist group plotting a terror attack involving biological warfare.

It is a very well written action packed thriller that I couldn't put down.

Highly recommend!

Wow, what a wonderful book! I just loved it. I have read nearly all of Karin Slaughter's books over the years and I can say that this is her best book so far. There was so much detail in the book and a lot of information that Karin had thoroughly researched. I found it very interesting and I learned a lot. I really enjoyed the love story between Will and Sara and the relationship Will had with her family. I give this book a well deserved 5 stars and I can't wait for Karin's next book. Thank you very much to Netgalley for gifting me an arc of this great book. I really appreciated it and I enjoyed it very much!

I always look forward to the release of Will Trent books and this was no exception. Characters from the past are in this novel - Will, Sara Linton and Faith. Will and Sara are enjoying a lazy day together when they hear loud explosions - it becomes clear there has been a bombing - as they rush to help, they stop at a road traffic accident instead - however this is not as it seems - Sara is abducted and Will is badly injured. Will is going to do all he can and more to get the love of his life back.
Meanwhile Michelle Spivey has had her daughter abducted and it soon becomes clear something huge is going down. This is a brutal and harsh read but has the same fast pace of all Karin Slaughters books. You will not be disappointed!

I’m a huge Karin Slaughter fan and love all the Sara Linton and Will Trent books, so was super excited for this. I loved The Last Widow. It had so many different elements, so many tense scenes, an incredibly complicated but believable plot and, as always, was so well researched while still being full of heart. A brilliant, high-octane read that had me gripped and left me breathless, and made me care even more about Sara, Will, Faith and Amanda.

I was gripped from the very beginning of the book. Not my usual read but it is so well written that I couldn't put it down. It looks at the rise of right wing ideology. A thrilling read. Plenty action and a real page turner.
