At last fans of the excellent Detective Kim Stone crime novels have a brand new story to read. This is the tenth book in the series and in my opinion the very best of them all.
When Kim and her trusty team are given their latest case, Kim is chilled to the bone to be returning to her once childhood home. There at Chaucer House, just three floors away from where she once lived, is one dead boy chained to the radiator and his girlfriend who is fading fast, is beside him and also chained up. The whole scenario is identical to her own shockingly appalling experience, when her brother Mikey died and she lived on, haunted by the events of over thirty years ago. Someone has replicated that very scene.
Could this be a coincidence or was it a menacing message just for her? The writing is on the wall in the command headquarters. Kim is desperate to lead the case and doesn’t want anyone to know about her horrendous past. She wants to be treated like everyone else. She has worked her way up and doesn’t want to be defined by her past. Only Woody and Bryant have ever been party to some of her secrets. She doesn’t want to be pitied. She embraces this opportunity, but when a second crime recreates another traumatic event in her life, losing her devoted foster parents Keith and Erica who were mercilessly killed, she knows someone is after her, playing mind games and out to destroy her. She is a wizard at solving mysteries but will she have the strength, determination and tenacity to track down an unknown adversary? She knows her life depends upon it.
Woody, her boss, allows her to continue at the helm of the investigation, but he assigns profiler Alison Lowe to the case to join her team and also to report directly back to him how Kim is coping and managing the investigation. She is a highly valued case-solver and he certainly doesn’t want her damaged or in the very worst case scenario, cold-bloodedly hunted down. Kim is forced to accept this decision and so Alison joins Kim, Bryant, Stacey and Penn, her stalwart investigative team whose specialities complement each others with talents to spare, adding her own speciality to the team.
This is a tightly plotted, chilling crime thriller. The storytelling is mesmerising, action packed and full of red herrings, blind alleyways and thrills and spills. It is a cleverly managed page-turner, short sharp chapters crammed with excitement and a mysterious, blood-thirsty perpetrator who plants false clues to keep Kim and her team one step behind, working late into the night in order to halt the heinous, evil killer before the master card can be played. I loved literally everything about the novel which was well fuelled with jealousy, vengeance and blind hatred. I especially loved discovering more about the personality traits of Kim and her team, as well as meeting an entire cast of brand new, beautifully crafted and expertly developed characters. The story is centred in and around ‘the black country’, not too far away from my hometown so I enjoyed being able to visualise familiar places and loved Kim’s descriptions of the local area. This story ticked all of my boxes.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from publisher Bookouture through my membership of NetGalley. Thank you most sincerely for ‘Dead Memories’, sent in return for an honest and unbiased review. I thought it was a tremendously enjoyable and engrossing novel and I am certainly going to be recommending it most highly to my friends, family and followers.

Dead Memories is the latest Kim Stone story by Angela Marsons. Dead Memories is easily a stand alone book, but it does give away some "who done it" from previous books. I highly recommend starting with number one, Silent Scream. I love this series, just wish Ms Marsons wrote faster! I was given an early copy to review.

I to say, this is the best one yet. It is fast paced and all the time builds to the crescendo at the end. For once, I didn’t see that coming.
Poor Kim, her life has been tragic, losing her brother and then her foster parents, and she’s managed to keep it all together by compartmentalising the events, all for it to re-appear by people being killed in exactly the same way. Who wants her dead and why.
As the body count increases, a suspect is found, but Kim isn’t too sure it’s the right person. She is racing against time to find the real killer. My heart was in my mouth!!
Her team are fantastic and I just love Stace, Penn and Bryant they make everything come together.
My thanks to the author, Angela and Netgalley for the ARC. Can’t wait for the next one.

The D.I. Kim Stone series is one that never disappoints. The author manages to deliver book, after brilliant book, of hours of thrilling reading entertainment.
Poor Kim never seems to get very far from her past. She is a complicated character with a fascinating background and I felt bad that I took delight in it being brought very much back to light again. I love knowing what makes people tick and these new batch of murders lets the reader yet again see Kim whilst she is quite fragile. Something she doesn’t like anyone to see.
This was such a twisted read of which I had no clue in which direction the author was steering me. Some very clever red herrings that had me second guessing the why’s and who. I have to say Bryant is character I am really getting to enjoy. Kim may not be so keen but their working relationship pushes the story up a few notches for me.
Dead Memories, yet again gets all the stars from me. It kept me guessing and am sure I could feel my heart racing the further into the story I went. At times it is one I wish I could read with my eyes closed as the author always delivers heart stopping moments that have me rushing to turn the next page to what will happen next. A mahoosive 5 stars!

I absolutely loved this latest instalment in the Kim Stone series. It was brutal, gritty and heartbreaking. The story line is captivating, full of twists and surprises. I love how we get to delve into Kim’s awful history more and also get to revisit so many characters we’ve met in previous books. I’ve read plenty of crime books and it’s very rare I’m truly surprised by an ending, but I can honestly say I didn’t see it coming. I loved how it finished and can not wait for more. Love this series!
Thanks Netgalley, Angela Marsons & Bookouture!

Dead Memories is the 10th book in the D.I. Kim Stone series. I have read and loved them all and this one doesn’t disappoint. If you haven’t read the series, you do not know what you are missing.
When a couple are found chained to a radiator. The male dead and the woman barely alive, found in a flat a few floors away. Where years previously D I Kim Stone was found also tied to a radiator when she was six years’ old. When more incidents happen, DI Kim Stone realises the similarities between these horrific events and the ones in her own life. Someone wants to hurt her and make her relive the horrific events in her life. They are out to get her.
I am not going to give anymore of the plot away. But to say Angela Marsons has done another cracking instalment of this series. This series seems to get better and better. The quality of the storyline and her writing is always of high quality. It has great plot lines, heart stopping moments and lots of twists and turns. I also love the camaraderie between the team, especially between Stone and Bryant. What more can you want?
Yet again, thank you so much Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy of this book

Once again Angie Marsons kept me on tenterhooks right up to
the last page. Guessing and second-guessing all the way! My heart was pounding by the time I'd finished this one! My dog wasn't too happy either as he had to wait for his walk! Well, who the hell can put down a book with 30mins to go!

I remember the very first time I came across a new author Angela Marsons and her debut Kim Stone novel Silent Scream
I knew she was one classy writer and here we are 10 books in and shes still writing these outstanding thrillers.
Somebody hates hates Kim Stone with a vengeance. This person wants to cause as much psychological pain by re-enacting traumatic incidents from Kim's childhood.
How do they know these things?
Who hates her that much to do this.
As Kim and her team try to put these pieces together to find this person it may all be too much for her to continue on the case because as strong and focus as she is each new traumatic find is resulting in her having to disclose her past to her team so they can catch this killer.
What I loved about this book is the way she brought all her old enemies back, each one with an axe to grind.
Thrilling and another page turner ...Its a winner from me.

I love this series of books, they keep getting better and better. This one was a very personal story to Kim, delving into her past horrors and making her re live them. A real pag turner, kept me engrossed from start to finish. Roll on number 11

Angela just gets better and better with each book in the Kim Stone series and I have read every one of them. It's good to see that the team can survive and thrive without Dawson but I must admit I will miss him . I now can't wait for the next one so excited. I highly recommend it.

It is only January and I feel I have already read the best book I will read this year!!!!
Marsons is one of my favourite authors and I've read and loved all of the Kim Stone books to date but Dead Memories is her best yet! There is a killer on the loose who is re-enacting all the traumatic childhood events of Kim Stone's life and she is being forced to relive her childhood over again. There is a new member on the team, profiler Alison who I absolutely loved and hope to see in future books and I have to say I really like Penn he is a great addition to the team. I also really liked that we got to know Kim Stone much better in this book. Dead Memories had all the usual funny banter and fantastic story line and had my head spinning with all the twists and so many suspects that when it came to the moment when the killer was to be revealed I honestly hadn't a clue who it was going to be!!!!!
Many thanks to Bookouture, Angela Marsons and NetGalley for the arc of Dead Memories my review is honest and unbiased in any way.

Another Angela Marsons brilliant read in the Kim Stone series (book 10 believe it or not) and, for me, ‘Dead Memories’ is the best so far. There is no doubt that having read the previous nine books improved my understanding and enjoyment but this can easily be read as a stand-alone.
Two teenagers are found handcuffed to a radiator on the fourth floor of the Chaucer House Building. The boy is dead and the girl is still alive which is almost a carbon copy of Kim and her brother some thirty years previous. Another ghastly murder follows which indicates without doubt that there is a killer imitating all of Kim’s worst events from her life.
However, the killer knows more than was revealed in the press and Kim and her team know that it is a race against time before the attack will be on Kim herself as the final deed.
As she fights to be allowed to stay on the case Kim has to work with Alison, a profiler, who is monitoring how Kim is coping with the events. I really warmed to Alison and enjoyed her comments and input.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Angela Marsons for the ARC in return for my honest review.
Brilliant, as always and highly recommended.

I think I start every Kim Stone book saying that I thought Angela Marsons couldn’t possibly beat the last book. This latest book is no exception. I loved it.
Very dark, someone is out to get Kim and is murdering innocents to replicate the traumatic past of our favourite Inspector. But who? And why?
I’ll say no more except read it now!!

Each time I pick up the latest Angela Marsons book I wonder how she’s going to keep the pace with the last one. To date, she’s not only kept the pace, somehow she blows it completely out of the water!!
Dead Memories is an absolute work of literary art! The pace is fast from start to finish, and this time it’s personal to our wonderful hero, DI Kim Stone when a case is almost identical to the most traumatic experience in Kim’s past.
I really don’t want to ruin it by giving any spoilers for anyone looking forward to reading this so I won’t go into anymore of the plot. What I will say is that I think this may well be the best one yet and admit to staying up the whole night reading “just one more chapter” because I couldn’t bare to put my kindle down.
All said and done, Dead Memories is bloody brilliantly written and possibly my favourite book ever!!! Well done Angela x

Unlike other series this one is still strong after 10 books. Love Kim Stone, can't wait for book 11.

Book ten in the Detective Kim Stone series. Again Angela Marsons delivers a brilliant, whopper of a read!!!
Someone is recreating tragic, devastating events in Kim's life from when she was a child!! Added to Kim's team is profiler Alison, who's there to see if Kim's too close to the case and needs to be taken off it. The race is on to solve this one!!
For anyone who hasn't read an Angela Marsons book you're seriously missing out!!!
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this arc.

Wow. Wow. Wow!!! Book 10 of the Kim Stone series. The series is fantastic and each book is better than the last!
Clear your diary and get comfy as when you start you will have trouble putting this book down!
A real fast moving page turner that will keep you guessing right til the end.
5 stars isn't enough to portray just how good it is.

Love the DI Kim Stone novels, they pull me in before the end of the first chapter and dead memories was no exception
Kim Stone has put a lot of bad people behind bars, she has a lot of enemies., she also has a horrific past,so couple all these together and that sums up the plot of the book, someone is after revenge and they are using all of Kim's demon's to try and bring her down.
Having read a few of these novels the characters are really well rounded and the introduction of new characters like Penn and Alison bring different angles to existing ones, felt Stacey really got to shine in this book as she had Alison to bounce off.
Really enjoyed this book, thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to review, this is my own opinion.

Loved this latest offering by Angela Marsons. It was good to catch up again with Kim Stone and her team.
This was a rollercoaster of a tale, full of twists and turns. Enjoyed getting to know more about Kim’s memorable past.
So looking forward to the next adventures!

Let’s get this clear from the off. I’ve read every one of the previous nine books in this series and love it. Kim Stone is one of my favourite characters in the genre and one Ive loved spending time with over the last few years.
We move on to book ten here, quite a run in one series, and you do fear that at some stage you will eventually be left disappointed. Every series has a finite life and the longer it goes on the more chance the quality drops or it ends up being somewhat of a rehash from the previous books. I mean a six or seven book run in a series while keeping the quality consistently high is probably as much as can be expected or hoped from from the majority of writers.
Any series that I love, I always get that little bit more worried the longer it goes on. Sooner or later the quality either drops or it just outstays it’s welcome.
None of the above applies here. Not a single iota. This is up there with my favourite Kim Stone novels. It’s just so so good.
Miss Marsons had me in the first few pages. Straight out of the traps, the theme of the book set out from the first chapter. I smiled inwardly with glee as I metaphorically put on my comfy slippers, lined up my favourite drinks and snacks as I settled down and got lost in the world of Kim Stone and her team.
There’s no point in doing a synopsis of the story. Even discussing the opening chapter I feel would be spoiler territory. I’d advise doing as I did and not even reading the “blurb” that comes with the book to outline the story. Go in blind and enjoy the ride. You’ll get your monies worth and then some.
From the first page to last you’ll be totally drawn into to this fantastic story and world. A dark and disturbing world no doubt but fascinating and addictive nonetheless.
The story just flows beautifully. The art of storytelling is on full show here. A lean yet unrushed book, there’s no fat here at all, yet plenty of room for the characters to interact with each other and be fleshed out fully.
I’m just so happy that ten books in and we get to read this quality of a story. It’s quite a feat from the author, especially when I think she has been averaging two(or is it three?)Kim Stone novels per year!
I also read in her post novel notes that she had a completely different story in mind for the tenth book and had indeed started on it until this idea surfaced and stayed with her until she scraped the original and started on this. Well I’ve no idea where the original was going but that was one great decision by the author to restart with this story.
So as you can tell I kinda liked this one. If you are a fan of the series you are just going to love this one I feel. If you are new to the series I’d recommend starting at the beginning and be happy that you have a ten(and counting)book series of such high quality to look forward to reading.
5 stars +. What a hugely enjoyable few days I’ve had reading this. Just reminds me of how engrossing and how much fun reading can be when you are in the hands of someone who really knows what they are doing.
Many thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Angela Marsons for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
