A 3.5 star story for me. Enjoyed the storyline for the most part although I guessed early on who took Laurel. Characters were not exactly endearing but there enough twists and turns to keep me reading although I thought the ending a bit unbelievable. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars

I have enjoyed the author’s previous books so that may be why I was slightly disappointed with this one.

It did keep you guessing but none of the characters were likeable and we never really got to know Laurel so without any investment in the characters it was just about finding out ‘who dunnit’

Easy to read, ok book.

How far would you go to protect the ones you love? Betrayal, kidnapping, devastating loss... twisted thriller that is hard to put down. Absolutely loved the ending and never expected it. Intrigued to see if there is a follow up.

A decent enough plot but I felt the book dragged without enough drama or suspense to grip the reader. A young girl goes missing at the local bonfire party and the aftermath is told in great detail which can be rather repetitive as the hours that she is missing drag into days. Each character aroused suspicion along the way and the finale became obvious as time went on. As told from the nanny’s perspective it worked quite well as she had her own secrets which gave more substance but I’m sorry to say this book wasn’t what I deem a thriller.

I found this to be an OK read. It’s a solid storyline with a good ending. However, I found that none of the characters really gelled with me, nor were likeable. So, all in all it was just ok for me.

I appreciate the opportunity to preview via Netgalley and the publishers.

(3.5 stars rounded up)
Excited to be at the crowded school bonfire, Laurel has two adults watching over her, she turns to follow her actress mum to the Loo, her Nanny is engrossed by the fireworks - then begins every parent and carer's nightmare ... who has taken Laurel?

This is definitely a page turner, written with the author's knack of twisty red herrings and unreliable characters it will keep you guessing. For me the reveal of Anna's story was a little too drawn out, the gaps between meetings were sometimes too long to be plausible and I would have liked to see more in depth exploration of the media intrusion and social media nastiness that seems to be given in such cases.

With thanks to NetGalley and HQ for the ARC of this book and allowing me to submit an unbiased review

4.5 stars but rounded down.
This book hit the ground running and didn't let up until the end. I do admit to having my suspicions about what really happened a tad early but that didn't take anything away from the ending when it eventually came.
Anna is Nanny to Laurel. They are at a bonfire with Laurel's mum when she goes missing. Panic strikes, especially when they can't get hold of her father who was supposed to be joining them. A search and subsequent request for information throws more mud into the mix and the police appear to be chasing their tails figuring out where the child is. It appears that there are many people with secrets they are desperate to hide but which ones are important? And will learning their truths lead to finding Laurel.
As with all these books, there are secrets, lies and duplicitous behaviour aplenty. I do have to admit that I got a bit bored with Anna's dark secret as hints were rammed down my throat constantly and I was screaming at the book, just tell me and move on! It did distract me from what was actually going on, which was a pity.
It's also a lesson on how people perceive others. On the face of things, both parents are well respected and successful. Behind closed doors however, there's another story to be told. One which I can't say too much about here for fear of spoilers. There are also quite a support cast who each throw things into the mix to muddy the waters somewhat.
In her previous books the author has managed to dupe me many times. Here, and I'm fully aware that my voracious reading of this genre doesn't help, I managed to guess certain things early along the way which led me to conclusions that I saw coming ahead of time. As already mentioned this didn't take anything away from the ending as I was never certain but I guess it did take the shine off the impact a little and I didn't quite get the "aha" moment I was craving, although I did feel a little smug!
Pacing was good and there was a good balance between description and scene setting, and progressing the story (Anna's secret apart).
All in all, another winner to add to an already impressive back catalogue. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Anna only takes her eyes off Laurel for a second. She thought Laurel was following her mum through the crowds. But in a heartbeat, Laurel is gone. Laurel’s parents are frantic. As is Anna, their nanny. But as the hours pass, and Laurel isn’t found, suspicion grows. Someone knows what happened to Laurel. And they’re not telling.

Everything about this book is okay, it is just not earth shattering or thrilling enough for a thriller. The plot trundles along but there is never anything to inject some much needed excitement into it. The twists are few and far between and obvious when they do come. The book is simply meh and forgettable. To be honest I would be quite happy to forget I ever read this book.

The characters, again, are okay. They are interesting and quirky but I did not form strong feelings on any of them either way and again found them largely forgettable and a group of people whom I did not especially care about.

This has been very negative and I wish there was something I could add to end on a high or at least give one positive, but hand on heart I can honestly say there was nothing to get me excited about this book and I will be only too pleased to forget about reading this.

Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for an advance copy.

This book is very cleverly written and is a compelling read. When Laurel goes missing at a bonfire night display after following her mother through the crowd, she appears to have vanished into thin air. Nobody appears to have seen her.

The book is beautifully crafted and I suspected all those involved at some stage, including Fran, Anna and Dominic, Laurel’s father. It really drew me in with its creep undertones. It is a brilliant read.

Always keeps you guessing right up until the last page. When you think you have it figured out something else is thrown into the pot.

A parents worst nightmare. A story that has you guessing to the very end. Anna the child’s nanny only took her eyes off laurel for a second so who could’ve taken her? Excellent writing and a real page turner.

This story is about Anna who is employed by Fran and Dominic to be Nanny to Laurel. Anna, Laurel and Fran attend a firework display, whilst following her mum to the toilets Lauren goes missing. It is every parents worst nightmare. Everyone is under suspicion and we soon learn that Anna has something to hide.

This is a fast paced book which keeps you turning the pages to find out what has happened to Laurel. As a regular reader of this genre the ending was nothing new, I felt slightly disappointed. I really enjoyed the book on the whole and would highly recommend it.

This was a tense psychological thriller with a sympathetic main character, Anna, nanny to a little girl, Laurel, who goes missing on bonfire night. Laurel’s parents, Dominic and Fran, are distraught. There are lots of twists and turns, as Anna tries to make sure that her past doesn’t catch up with her and I enjoyed the tension created by this secret. Plenty of red herrings keep the reader guessing until the last (excellent) sentence!

It is early November. A school Bonfire Night fireworks display in an affluent Surrey town. Anna watched Laurel run after her mother Fran across the school grounds, distracted momentarily by the fireworks she looks away. That was all it took, a split second. Laurel was gone and no-one can find her.

As the days and weeks pass by the police search finds nothing, there is no sign of Laurel. Cracks begin to show in the relationship between frantic parents Fran and Dominic. The care and support shown by the local community starts to wane and accusatory messages appear on the Find Laurel Facebook page. There is something not quite right in this idyllic little part of little Britain.

Told entirely from the perspective of the child’s nanny Anna this is a fascinating story of every parent’s worst nightmare. No-one is what they seem and a surprisingly large number of people are lying and pretending to be something or someone that they aren’t. Like all good psychological thrillers Have You Seen Her will have you accusing most of the characters in turn before you discover the truth. It is a well written story with a surprising attention to detail. I hadn’t read any of Lisa’s other book but I’ll definitely be adding them to my must read list. The ending is a real killer!

Supplied by Net Galley and HQ in exchange for an honest review.

I would expect nothing less from Lisa hall and it certainly doesn’t disappoint! A gripping read that kept my adrenaline up and meant I finished it in 24 hours! Hoping Lisa hall keeps writing books like this!

Addictive!
As always with this author the story grabs you and doesn’t let you go, not even for a second as the suspense goes up a gear each chapter
Laurel goes missing, at a local bonfire, she is there with her Mum and Nanny ( Anna ) and should be safe, she isn’t, one minute shes there, the next gone, vanished, without a trace.....no one has a clue where she is??....but they do of course but I bet like me you wont guess who knows whats happened and even if you do you will
swop and change and change and swop until the culprit is ‘unmasked’
The story is full of lies and cheats and people pretending they are something they arent....the characters are flawless for the role they play yet all flawed! ( if makes sense?)
The ending is really a 3 pronged affair and each prong shocks just that bit more!
In a ‘busy’ field of missing children thrillers there needs to be every single element of a good story to make the book stand out and also something new to add to it....this book has it, and more
One of those reads you feel satisfied when finished like a good meal, thoroughly enjoyable

This was a fascinating story with lots of twists and turns and "red herrings". Good storyline with believable characters and a brilliant conclusion.

Wow! Lisa Hall is the one to watch! I really enjoyed this tense thriller. I love how each main character could be the possible link to the abduction of little Laurel. Some have hidden pasts. Is it you? Or you? Tense from the moment you start the first chapter. Brilliant. A must read. Clever ending.

Gripping from the very start. Another excellent page-turner from the talented Lisa Hall. Highly recommended

I’d like to thank Harlequin UK and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Have You Seen Her’ by Lisa Hall in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Four-year-old Laurel is taken to a fireworks event at the local primary school by her mum Fran and nanny Anna. They only take their eyes off her briefly but during those seconds Laurel disappears. A witness sees her getting into a large car but despite the police and residents of Oxbury organising search parties there’s no sign of her. Someone must know what’s happened to Laurel but nobody’s coming forward.

‘Have You Seen Her’ is a tense and gripping thriller of what must be every parent’s nightmare, the disappearance of their young daughter. It’s fast-paced and well-written with a chilling plot, twists and turns, and some dubious characters, and the suspense keeps increasing until the final twist when it becomes apparent what actually happened to Laurel. It’s such a brilliant story I was hooked from the very first page and devoured the whole book in a day. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
