I've read quite a few of Karen Rose's books, Scream for me, Die for me, Count to Ten, to name a few so I was excited to get a free ARC via Netgalley from Headline Publishing.

This is the first book in the New Sacramento series and it looks like this series is going to be fantastic!

Love the new characters, especially Gideon and Daisy, and this book has left some things unresolved so I can't wait for the next in the series.

If you like a book with great characters, suspense and twists then this one's for you!

With thanks to Netgalley and Headline for my free copy in return for an honest review.

It's been quite a few years since I last read a Karen Rose book so when I saw that Say You're Sorry was the first in a new series from the author it seemed like the perfect time to read this book to see what new characters she has in store for us readers. One of the things I have loved about her books in the past are the characters she creates and in this new series set in Sacremento she's certainly created characters that you quickly take into your heart.

Say You're Sorry certainly hit the ground running from the prologue when we're first introduced to our sadistic predator who is tormenting his latest victim, and the frantic pace didn't let go until the dramatic final chapters.

Daisy Dawson really was a brave, feisty young woman to confront her attacker in the manner that she did only to realise a little too late that he was not who she thought it would be and that she might be in more danger than she first thought. For she's managed to grab a mysterious locket from around the attacker's neck little knowing it's link to a cult that's also connected to the past of Special Agent Gideon Reynolds, a man her close friends the Sokolov's have trying to be set her up on a date with. Daisy soon realises that she's going to have to relinquish some of the control that she has built up for herself and let others in to protect her, that she cannot go it alone any longer.

When approached by his close friend Rafe Sokolov, Gideon knows that he's going to have to tackle his inner demons if he wants to trace Daisy's attacker so that he can find the original owner of the locket, someone he thinks he knows, and find out what has happened to her as well as maybe trying to locate where the cult is now that he escaped from as a teenager. He really was a man on a mission, a bit reckless at times I did think would the FBI/Police really have done that but I suspended belief and just went with the flow.

It was clear from the outset that both Daisy and Gideon were scarred by their pasts so neither wanted, nor were particularly ready, for anything more than a strictly professional relationship but yet there was an instant connection between them that they couldn't resist. At times I did think woah everything was moving at such a frenetic pace and relationships developing so fast but I guess that a near-death experience, and the painful reminder of events you've survived, might make you appreciate life and those who are around you at the present time.

Say You're Sorry was romantic suspense at its best, I loved seeing the relationships develop but at the same time I was just as invested as Gideon, Daisy and everyone else in catching their man before he could kill again. The thriller/crime aspect definitely had me on the edge of my seat flicking through the pages wondering what was going to happen next, even if at times it might have been a little too graphic for my liking especially when reading in the middle of the night. I hope it's not too long a wait until we're reunited with Daisy, Gideon, Rafe and the rest of the Sokolov clan.

I have to say I’m a fan of Karen Rose and if you have previously read any novels by this author then this stays true to her talent.
Special Agent Gideon Reynolds is drawn into a case, relating to his childhood, when Daisy Dawson is attacked and pulls a distinctive necklace from the neck of her attacker. Gideon raised in a cult has always been looking for way to find his family who were trapped when he left. You can always guess the Roma e side of Karen’s books but never the suspense. I devoured this within a day and have already pinpointed the characters whose stories I hope will be told in the upcoming books.
Thanks to Headline and NetGalley for an ARC

I’ve been anxiously waiting for the release of Karen Rose’s latest novel. Usually released in the UK on the first Thursday in November - the same day as Costa release their Christmas drinks - I savour my quiet time every year. Alas, I have had to wait longer for the first in her Sacramento series...but was it worth the wait?

In Say You’re Sorry, we get to properly meet Daisy Dawson, the step-sister of Clay Maynard’s eldest, as she fights a would-be abduction and crashes headfirst into the sights of a serial killer. The locket she manages to claw from her attacker catches the attention of FBI Agent Gideon Reynolds and the two race to stop any more killings.

This novel had so much that I loved, murder, abduction, the expected romance, plucky heroine and bashful hero, ties to a cult AND the reintroduction of a favourite face from earlier Rose stories. A strong pace, a great plot and twists flowing regularly enough to keep the reader on their toes.

This felt like a return to the Karen Rose novels of old, an almost Chicago-esque feel to the storyline and character development, and I lapped up every second of it. A little disappointed that the story wasn’t fully resolved - I am a huge fan of closure - but hopeful that the search for Eden will continue in future books in this series.

Overall, a fantastic Story While He Snoozed. Please, don’t keep me waiting so long for the next one!!!

I was given an advanced copy of this book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis: Daisy Dawson is finally settling into a life of her own, a recovering alcoholic she's had trauma in her past but now she's away from her family and branching out on her own with her job as a radio show host and her work volunteering. That is until a seemingly random attacker tries to pull her down a dark alley. But when the bodies of young women begin to show up all over California it looks like Daisy was set to be the next victim. FBI agent Gideon Reynolds has been trying his best to put the past behind him but when Daisy Dawson and her tiny dog Brutus come crashing into his life and opens up old wounds it seems a bit of chaos might be just what he needs.

I've been in such a terrible reading slump and nothing I've picked up has held my attention but I should have known I could trust Karen Rose to drag me straight back in to my love of reading! This was another gripping tale in Karen's new Sacramento series. For those who haven't read Karen's books before all her series' run on the same base characters but a side character in book one becomes a main character in book 2 and a side character in book 2 becomes the main character in book 3 and so on. It's very, very cleverly done and allows you to start something fresh with the characters you love still playing a part but not becoming tired. Oh yeah, and there's always a hot steamy romance. The perfect blend of murder mystery and romance. That's what keeps me coming back for more of Karen's books again and again!

Lucky enough to read a preview copy of this book.
Love the characters and sure we will get a lot more stories about them including the unfinished story of Gideon and Mercy' s life in Eden. All the characters stand up on their own and mixing in old favourites like Tom also works well. Not to keen on the bedroom scenes but they are skipabble without spoiling the overall story which is a page turner.
Look forward to reading more.

Karen Rose is one of my favourite authors, and I have been waiting for this to arrive on NetGalley for so long! FINALLY it came and I was not disappointed.

I absolutely loved this book. Say You're Sorry is so, so good.

Gideon and Daisy are great together - the sex scenes were definitely hotter in this one than any of the previous ones. The writing is as perfect as usual, flowing well and all loose ends tied up neatly. The serial killer as bad as usual.

I enjoyed getting to know a whole new cast of characters in this first Sacramento instalment. Rafe is just adorable. I think I liked him the best. Sasha and Mercy both great as secondary characters, and Irina and Karl Sokolov were just great - welcoming anyone in need into their family.

KR's romantic suspense series is such a reading highlight for me, and each year I count the days until I can get my hands on the newest copy. This was no exception, I pre-ordered this back in October 18.

My favourite little surprise here, was that Tom Hunter popped up toward the end! Tom! Caroline's Tom, from all the way back in Don't Tell - number one!

I love that Gideon loves Buffy! :) How sweet is that?

I can't recommend this book highly enough. :)

OMG!!! Have been eagerly awaiting this book for sooooo long! And Karen didn't disappoint!

Such a strong book for the first in a new series!

Daisy is such a strong woman and her dad taught her well.....(be proud Mr Dawson...be proud!!). I have to admit that, when reading this book, I did tear up a good few times...oh Gideon!! If only we could make it all disappear and be better....sigh!!

Now Gideon...such a man that such a challenging past, and he's stubborn too! But so worth it....(not a patch on Deacon, but then Deacon is my absolute favourite!!). Gideon doesn't want to hurt his family by divulging his past, and that makes him strong and loyal.

Can't wait to find out what happens between 2 other characters....(NO SPOILERS!!).

Keep it up Karen...you are an amazing woman!!

Another entertaining read, this is the start of a new series and the perfect time to start reading Karen Rose. Although these are primarily romance, there is always a really interesting bad guy and plenty of action.
A slightly guilty pleasure, but most definitely a pleasure.

Thank you to Netgalley, Headline and author Karen Rose for sending me the digital ARC of this book in return for my honest review.

Here comes the blurb as they say it better than I ever could!

-- MULTI-MILLION COPY SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER KAREN ROSE IS BACK WITH A BRAND NEW SERIES TO GET YOUR PULSE POUNDING --
Special Agent Gideon Reynolds has tried hard to put his past behind him. He escaped the violence of his cult upbringing when he was just thirteen, and since then routine and discipline have been his way of making sense of the world. But when a petite blonde woman crashes into his life, he begins to realize that a little bit of chaos might not be so bad.
Daisy Dawson has had more than her fair share of pain too - but she's done being a victim. Daisy's determined to explore every new experience she can - including getting to know the dark and serious FBI investigator she meets when she fights off a masked attacker one night.
It soon becomes clear that Daisy's attack was just the beginning. Now the bloodied bodies of young women are showing up all over California, and, as Gideon tries to find the killer, it's clear that Daisy is in more danger than they ever realised...
I have had the pleasure of reading a few Karen Rose books, this is the 1st book in the Sacramento Series and some characters do overlap. Like many of her books we have lots of crime, romance and suspense!! I am not really a romance reader but the crime and thriller element more than makes up for what are very organic and thought out relationships.

It is a huge read at over 600 pages and there are lots of characters but as the story gets going you keep up with who is who and what is happening easier.

The chapters switch from Daisy and Gideon’s story to the killer’s. I for one love having the killer point of view I think to know there thinking, what makes them tick and why.

Lots of ups and down and many twists and turns, safe to say I am already hooked and look forward to book 2 of this series

I haven't read any of Karen's previous books but this story did sound interesting and as it was the first book in a new series I thought I would give it a try. The book is centred around FBI agent Gideon Reynolds, Daisy Dawson (who Gideon is assigned with protecting after she has been attacked) and a very disturbed serial killer. The story is told from the perspectives of each character and although it is a lengthy read there is certainly plenty going on to keep the reader engrossed. This book has it all, suspense, crime and romance. If you are looking for a well thought out story, good character development, a fast paced plot along with a little bit of romance then you will enjoy this book. I will definitely be looking out for the second book in the Sacramento series. Thank you to Headline and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 1st book in the Sacramento Series and as with her other series she brings in characters that overlap - giving continuity to the different series . This is like being welcomed back into a long running family saga .

FBI Agent Gideon Reynolds has been assigned to investigate an attack on Daisy Dawson ………… Daisy managed to pull a locket from around her attacker's neck ……… one which holds a great significance to Gideon's horrific childhood .Fearing that the attack on Daisy still leaves her in danger he determines to act as her bodyguard
Gideon is able to identify who the locket belonged to raising hope that the locket's owner might still be alive …..
perhaps he will be finally able to find out where Eden , the Cult he had been raised is , and bring the Leaders to Justice .
Both Gideon and Daisy have issues from their pasts but their attraction to each other allows them to help each other just when the one in need , needs it most .
The storyline is fast paced and the chapters switch from Daisy and Gideon’s story to the killer’s. This gives a different perspective into the 'whys' and 'wherefores' as the story unfolds
Searching for the killer leads the story into Gideon's past , with all the heartbreak it holds , and to dangers to them both now in the present .
This was a very fast paced thriller/romance with a complex plot , diverse characters both old and new , which handles PTSD with gentle hands .
I would recommend this Authors books to anyone who enjoys a good well written multi-character suspense filled story , and look forward to the next in this series .

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Say You're Sorry is the first book in the new Sacramento series, and although I am not that fond of reading about romance I found that it was very organic, so I was able to get behind it due to that. There are plenty of twists and turns and non-stop action to keep you enthralled and engaged throughout, and though it's quite lengthy it never feels that way as it's easy to read through it in a fun-filled single sitting. Violence makes up a large part of the plot, so if you're not up for that I would take a pass.

One of the aspects I love most about Rose's books is that all of her characters are strongly developed, flawed and human. However, the reason for not awarding five stars is that there are quite a few characters to keep track of, and although I like to be challenged it was a struggle at the beginning. The story is told from three different perspectives - Daisy's, Gideon's and the killers allowing us to get into the head of each of them. This seems to be the start of a promising series. I look forward to picking up the next instalment.

Many thanks to Headline for an ARC.

Say You're Sorry is a compelling crime mystery sprinkled with heartwarming romance.

Daisy and Gideon have great chemistry together, their banter is entertaining. They also work well as a team, and know what the other one needs in that moment. The Sacramento crew are a great cast of characters. I especially love Irina and Karl, they have kind of adopted both Daisy and Gideon into their very large family. Both are sweet but Irina definitely has a mummy bear vibe about her, Also I really want Irina recipe for her Honey cake.

In Say You're Sorry there is two mysteries, one regarding Daisy and the other about Gideon past. They do connect slightly, I fell like one of the mysteries is a short game mysteries and the other is the long game. Both are engrossing in their own right, together they made me not want to put the book down.

One of the aspect I have always enjoyed about Karen Roses character is that they all have baggage.

They have physical or mental scars (sometime both). Although the character have these scars, she shows how you can cope and become stronger because of them. But that the characters do it in their own times. Like she Daisy has anxiety issues and has a service dog called Brutus that helps her cope. It's a daily battle but is doesn't stop her. Also that book has two dog character that just shows how amazing dogs are.

Karen Rose writing style is one of my favourites to read. It is like sitting down with an old friend as they tell you a really good story. The type of friend that when you hang out with you do not notice as they time flies by.

I can not wait to see which Sacramento character will be the focus of the next book.

My rating for Say You're Sorry is 5 out of 5.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an ARC of this book.

I'm a fan-girl of Karen Rose and nothing she can do is ever wrong. BUT................she didn't make me cry this time :-). I think she's saving it for Dani and Diesel's story though, so will probably have to take a week off work!

As ever, she can't write fast enough for me but it was a brilliant story, fab characters and it was nice to Tom introduced again.

I haven’t read a Karen Rose novel for years! I used to grab every book I could find of hers and loved them all, but shamefully the last few books have slipped me by until I was offered the chance to review this one. Most of her books are from a very big series, and the characters all intermingle or are related to others in some way or another. You don’t need to have read the other books though to be able to read this one, it is perfectly readable as a standalone novel.

It was great to settle back down into this author’s style of writing and the characters which she is known for – it was just like being welcomed back into the family. I’ve remembered some of the characters over the years for their unique style and this book is no different. FBI Agent Gideon Reynolds is investigating the attack on Daisy Dawson. When she pulls a locket from round the neck of her attacker, Reynolds immediately recognises it and knows who it used to belong to. It links to events in his past that he has tried to forget, but the sight of this locket gives him hope that its owner is still alive. Can he keep Daisy safe whilst trying to fight off the attraction brewing between them?

This book still had everything which I used to love about a Karen Rose book – lots of crime, romance and suspense!! It is a big old book, coming in at just over 600 pages and there are lots of characters which initially does make it hard to keep track of who everyone is. As the story moves on though you do get used to all the names and the story flows really well. There is always one character which you connect to more than the others, and this one was FBI Agent Gideon Reynolds. I loved the instant attraction there was between Daisy and him. He is so cool, calm and collected and would do everything in his power to protect Daisy from whoever attacked her.

The storyline is fast paced and the chapters switch from Daisy and Gideon’s story to the killer’s. Having the killer’s point of view, you are able to see what makes them tick, what has happened in the past and why they are doing it. Searching for this killer leads the story nicely into Gideon’s past which included some sad and heart-breaking issues. This was a real rollercoaster of a read and it had so many twists and turns I almost lost count. As it is a romantic suspense read, there was just the right amount of both in the story. The crime plot of the story took priority but with plenty of romance running right through the middle of the story.

It was a great read and has made me realise what I’ve been missing!! I’ll definitely be going back to read the books in-between that I’ve missed and will look forward to reading future books from this series! Many thanks to Anne for organising the blog tour, and thank you to the author and publisher for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Headline for an advance copy of Say You’re Sorry, the first novel in a new romantic suspense series set in Sacramento.

When Daisy Dawson is attacked she manages to fight off her attacker, grabbing hold of his necklace in the process, a necklace that means a lot to Special Agent Gideon Reynolds. The attacker sees Daisy as a loose end and soon she and Gideon are in great danger.

I thoroughly enjoyed Say You’re Sorry which is a pulse pounding read with some very dark themes. It is a violent novel which may not appeal to the squeamish and although not normally in this category I found some of the cruelty hard to take, not because I found it unbelievable but rather because it is all too believable (I am an avid viewer of true crime documentaries). The novel is narrated in the third person from Daisy and Gideon’s points of view alternating with the attacker’s, who turns out to be a serial killer, and one of his victims. It is an interesting approach which works well, giving the reader a much wider view of events. I’m not always a fan of seeing the killer’s thoughts but his motivation is slowly explored over the course of the novel and while it is impossible to condone his actions there are mitigating circumstances. The plot is action filled and exciting as Daisy and Gideon fight for survival against a clever opponent, although in true serial killer fashion maybe not quite as smart as he thinks.

The novel is the usual mix of exciting events interspersed with the growing attraction between Daisy and Gideon and the inevitable sex scenes which I never read, preferring to skip to the more exciting action scenes. What that says about me I don’t care to analyse but the plot is sufficiently exciting for me to do without them. The characterisation is strong, especially Daisy, but not particularly analytical, preferring to concentrate on their deeply troubled pasts.

Say You’re Sorry is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.
