Everyone admires Suzy and her doll's house life. She has a gorgeous family, a beautiful home and a successful business. But Suzy hasn't always been in control. In her past lies a shadowy tale of fear and instability - a life that she once ran away from and has hidden from ever since.

When Suzy starts being followed, she fears that her past may finally be catching up with her. And when she finds herself unable to do what to her is the most important thing - keep her loved ones safe - she has to decide how far she'd be willing to go to win everything back.

Even if it means sacrificing everything she knows and loves...

What can I say about this book without giving any spoilers? It goes in a completely different direction to what I expected … and I really liked that about it. The author knows how to make things intense … then even more intense. I definitely was not expecting that ending. A very enjoyable book. 5*

Once again another great read from an author who is new to me.

This book had me hooked after the first few pages and I couldn’t stop reading, I just wanted to sit and read it till I knew how it ended, but sadly other commitments got in the way and I had to spread my reading time.

I thought the The Wife's Shadow was really well paced and written with plenty of twists and turns. The author does a great job of building the slow tension, which leaves you always trying to guess what will happen next. I thought I had worked out the ending but I was way off.

I loved the characters. Suzy the main character was my favourite. She started off as a strong character but as the story develops we see her falling apart and becoming very weak and vulnerable.

Overall an enjoyable read, but there are a few questions I have about some of the details, as they seem to be a bit unrealistic now I come to think about it. But I won’t go into too much detail as I don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t read this one.

Would I recommend this book?
Yes, I definitely recommend this book. Especially if you’re looking for a gripping read.

I would like to thank Little Brown Book Group for getting in touch with me asking if I would like review this book through NetGalley.

A good read - I enjoyed this book and thought it was well written, even though I found Suzy to be quite an irritating character at times - I enjoyed the development of the story and thought the ending was very satisfactory. Recommended.

Spoiler Alert
The whole premise of the story is that the husband, Mike 6 months earlier intercepts a letter from the solicitor regarding £1.8m inheritance and thence forth set about undermining his wife, Suzy to the point of divorce, getting 100% custody of the children and 1/2 money. However the history is that Suzy and her mother ran away after believing the father had been killed, changed their names and kept a low profile so they couldn’t be tracked. Plot failure! How did the solicitor know where to find Suzy?
The second irritation was that the title gave away who the ‘baddie’ was from the get go.
For these reasons I can’t give more than 3 stars

A 4-5 star fast paced and enthralling read, which will definitely hook readers and not let go while it takes you down a creepy path or mind boggling twists and turns! It’s very full of suspense and that definitely held my attention! I will be highly recommending to my fellow thriller/suspense/domestic drama readers!

Thank you to NetGalley, Little, Cath Weeks and Brown Book Group UK for giving me the oppottunity to read this spine tingling book.

"WOW" I was not expecting that ending one bit. I was hooked from a few pages in and intrigued to find out what was going to happen. I am so glad that I could not work out the ending.

I like how Cath has written this book, she has managed to keep people guessing and interested throughout the story. I can imagine that as Cath was wrting this book that she got chills down her spine in places as did I when I read it. Although this is a dark story it also has an emorional element which had me welling up at times and got me thinking about a few things that was going on during the story.

Well done Cath for writing such an amazing book and I for one am now a fan of your having read this as my first book by your good self. I shal be putting your name on my ever growing list of authors to continue reading.

I highly recommend this book especially to those who would like a book that you can sink your teeth into.

Suzy and Mike seem to have the perfect marriage and while he stays at home with the children Suzy looks after the deli shop and cafe that they own and everything seems to be going well, that is until her mother dies and Suzy is reminded of her difficult past. Her mother fled from an abusive marriage and Suzy does her best to put that behind her but it seems someone wants to remind her of it and who is following her ? She needs to keep her family safe and will go to any lengths to do that but will this backfire on her? Mike is not dealing with this well and she is confused at the lack of support from him and she does wonder if she is losing the plot herself at times. I really enjoyed this book and I hadn't worked it all out so had a surprise at the ending. In my opinion it is a great book and well worth the reading late into the night to get to the end.
Thank you to little brown and NetGalley for my copy of the book.

Let me start off by saying that women's fiction is not my usual genre but I must admit I was pleasantly surprised as this book has a thriller edge to it.
Suzy has the perfect life, two beautiful children, a loving husband and of course the beautiful home. Suzy also has a past and a dark secret. As her life begins to unravel Suzy starts thinking that maybe her past has caught up with her. This is an easy read, gripping in places and kept me entertained. Saying that I am readers of this genre will love it .Almost four stars.
I would like to thank the author, Little Brown Book Group UK and Netgalley for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

A couple that at first sight seem to have it all. Suzy and Mike are happily married with two children. Suzy owns a successful deli and Mike is a stay at home Dad, after having to leave the police force due to injury. Then Suzy’s mother dies and within the space of a few weeks her world starts to crumble. Strange things begin to happen to her and her troubled past makes a return. Will Suzy discover what is happening to her before her life is left in tatters.

I absolutely loved Suzy and I really felt for her as I watched her crumble within the pages. She started off as such a strong character and events just saw her fall apart piece by piece. The book is very much a tense read in places and you just want to work out what is happening to help Suzy !!

A great read that will keep you entertained from start to finish.

Thank you to Little, Brown Book Group and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.

I enjoyed this book by Cath Weeks and will certainly look out for other books by her. The story is creepy at times as the main character fears she is being stalked. Having had a tough childhood she flees the hands of her violent father with her mother. The story is told across two times frames flashing between the past and the present. Dealing now with the death of her mother brings up unpleasant memories of her father.

Married to an ex policeman now injured and a stay at home father, is all too good to be true; strange things start to happen. Now she is relying heavily on sedative medication to get through the day. A twisty novel with a surprising ending.

I really enjoyed this book, I felt the characters were strong and likeable and the book was well written. A real page turner that keeps you guessing.

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
A slow burner but a fairly good book with some intrigue. The problem for me was that I didn’t particularly like the main character so found it hard to be empathetic.
At times I didn’t like the way it was written, swapping between past and present tenses, which was not always clear.
The storyline was fairly good but it felt to me like the author kept swapping the direction the story was going to go and so I am not sure how realistic it was. There was enough to keep me going to the end of the book.
Overall a 3 star read.

So this was an interesting read, Suzy and Mike seem to have the perfect marriage.
Mike is a stay at home dad retired through injury from the police force and Suzy is a small business owner, namely a local deli shop.
Suzy's life seems great she has her friends and her family surrounding her.
But when her mum dies things seem to start to unravel slightly.
She sees strange things and gets the sense someone is watching here and thinks it may have something to do with her past.
So this was told solely from Suzy's POV and was mainly a character-driven book it moved quite slowly at times concentrating on sometimes mundane everyday activities, this did mean my attention wandered slightly as I wasn't that interested in whose turn it was to pack the kids lunches.
The hubby Mike did seem fantastic, like the perfect husband: yes he could be slightly sanctimonious at times and a tad judgmental when it came to Suzy and her parenting and decisions but for the most part he appeared supportive and a great father to there children.
Suzy herself was doing a great job of juggling her responsibilities and I think she did this quite admirably.
When the strange occurrences start to happen we are taken on a journey along with Suzy herself as she attempts to uncover what is actually happening and she eventually discovers that she might not know the people around her quite as well as she actually thought she did.
So as I said earlier I did initially find this quite plodding but it did change speed in the second half which I found much more compelling reading.
I also liked the anonymous mystery of Suzy's strange meetings and I didn't actually manage to guess what was occurring there.
My main issue here was that not much really happens and I found myself a tad disconnected overall: I really wasn't that interested or invested in the characters here.
Which really was a shame as I cannot fault this on the writing itself as that was excellent.
So the last quarter here saved this for me and it really managed to pull things out of the bag.
I also found it ever so satisfying that all guilty parties involved had a consequence and no one was forgiven (as it should be).
Lastly, this was slightly predictable as there weren't that many key characters here making this easy to solve.
My final rating of this also reflects the fact that this really took its time grabbing my attention.
This was well-written with a satisfying conclusion.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of "The Wife's Shadow"
All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

An easily digested page turner, psychological thriller or domestic noir. Suzy has a well kept secret deep within her past that comes back to haunt her seemingly perfect life. It would appear to have been exacerbated by the untimely death of her mother. Suzy the resolute and ambitious wife, mother of two young children and successful business woman starts to fall apart thinking she is being stalked. Is the perceived threat real or imaginary. Does she need police help or medical intervention?

Suzy is devastated when her mother dies as they were very close after they fled from her violent father. Suzy is married to Mike, an ex policeman and a stay at home father to their two children. But Suzy starts falling apart as she is convinced someone is stalking her, someone who knows all about her past and her long buried secret. Suzy is determined to find our more about her father and that leads her on a downward spiral. She feels she is losing control of her life and her mental stability is questioned.
I enjoyed reading this book but was a little disappointed with the ending as I had guessed it well before it came.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

This book was not what I expected but I really enjoyed it nonetheless.
Suzy and Mike seem to have everything but following the death of her mother, Suzy starts to struggle.
She has her own business and Mike is a stay at home dad following a nasty car accident when he was in the Police.
Suzy starts to see items left near her home that link back to her childhood and starts to worry.
She then starts to suspect that she’s being followed and sees someone in their house.
Mike is supportive and calls two friends who are in the Police to help find out who is following her.
Suzy starts to worry more and more and soon becomes forgetful around the children.
When Mike suggests she moves out for a bit as her behaviour is affecting the children she goes along with it but is not happy.
Events then take a dramatic turn and I loved the ending of this book. I can’t say any more as I don’t want to spoil it for you.
Thanks to Little Brown Book Group and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

The Wife’s Shadow was on the whole an enjoyable, easy read. Suzy Taylor comes from an abusive broken family background, But she has rebuilt her life, is successful in business and has a family of her own, when her mother suddenly passes away. Her grief manifests into apparently imagining a stalker, and slowly her life begins to fall apart.

It works well, flicking between the slight past and the present, and building intrigue by not disclosing what or who the main character is visiting during the present day chapters

However I found it a little on the “lite” side of psychological thrillers, and somewhat predictable - I had guessed the ending well before it came. However I would recommend it as a laid back holiday read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC in return for my honest review.
