Really enjoyed this book. I was slightly disappointed by the ending though. First book I have read by the author & would like to read the previous 2 of the series.

A wonderful addition to the Natalie Ward book series. It was addictive, staying up late to read, not wanting to put it down. The issue of social media and teenagers hit close to home for me.
The book was interesting and engaging, I enjoy all of the characters and their interactions with each other. Crime procedures books are my favorite, and this series is one I enjoy reading. I can't wait until the next installment. Hopefully, Natalie will do something about that husband of hers.

Many thanks to Bookouture and Carol Wyer for the opportunity to read and review this book. This is the second Natalie Ward book I've read and I've really enjoyed both. There is a really good plot development between Natalies life and her working world. This story is based around her trying to catch a serial teenage killer. Fast paced. Edge of your seat and well worth a read.

Although this is a crime series that can be read as standalone due to the nature of the stories, I did read the two books prior to this one to get a fuller grasp on Natalie Ward, as her personal life is a subplot to the series. This series is very much like Criminal Minds, where the story mainly focuses on a crime, but the characters personal life is lightly woven along the plot as well.

Although I enjoyed the two previous crimes in the series, I would say that this may be one of the weaker ones. I think it's mostly due to the crime and to my personal taste. I'm not too keen on teens making dumb selfish decisions and this followed that. Every time a girl turned up missing, I'm just like "why did they do that?" (once you learn why the girls go missing). It's frustrating, to say the least, but then again they're young teen girls, and most teens can fall prey to their selfish desires, including Natalie's daughter.

Overall, this was still a good crime/thriller novel.

Great book, number the in the Natalie Ward series, have read the other two and was not disappointed with this one, a lot more going on in her family this time, was quite worn out at times with all that was happening, this is the kind of series where you feel as if you are there with them, you even end up talking to the characters, or is that just me, loads of twists and turns, thoroughly enjoyed, can't wait for the next one,.

Another thrilling read. Lots of twists and turns, red herrings, before we find out what really happened and who’s responsible.

We also see and hear more about Natalie’s personal life - things still aren’t going well at home, David is still struggling to find work and there are suspicions that he is gambling again. When their daughter Leigh then goes missing, this adds even more strain to the already rocky marriage.

I really enjoyed this and eagerly await book 5, which surely must be make or break for Natalie and David, especially as there is still unresolved issues and attraction between Natalie and Mike.

Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book prior to release. This is my unbiased review.

The Dare is a gripping police procedural told in real time over several.days. The ins and outs of a police investigation isn't for everyone but I'm a fan. Savannah Hopkins is a 13 year old girl who goes missing in the town of Watfield. It's not immediately clear if she ran away or was abducted. It's not long before the police are made aware of a site called Disappear. This site dares you to hide out for as long as possible, hours even days. Then another teenage girl goes missing from the same town in similar circumstances. I enjoyed the story even though I guessed who the perpetrator was less than half ways through. It didn't distract from the story for me.

Book 3 in the Detective Natalie Ward series. A gripping read you won't want to put down, but you won't want it to end either.
What can I say? I am loving loving loving this series. The author again has beat all expectations and created another fantastic addition to the series.
Natalie is again struggling juggling her home life and her work life, taking her eye of either could cause explosions. But I have to say I wish Natalie and her husband would sort out their issues. lol
Natalies life is about to get a whole lot tougher. Natalie and her team are brought in to investigate a missing teen . Her body is found a day later having been murdered. It's then another teen goes missing. It's going to be a race against the clock.
On investigation it appears that these girls have been using a website to carry out dares. Is this the only link to the girls?
It's down the Natalie and her wonderful team to get stuck in and do what they do best- Solve cases. The team work so well together the characters are likeable and realistic. They throw themselves in to the case and work brilliantly as a team.
This is a very cleverly put together story, it felt fresh and with the use of the internet for everything in a teenagers life, it added to the realness of the story.
Bravo Carol, another first class read. I'm really liking Natalie's character but would also like a return of Robyn at some stage.

Excellent police procedure novel. I have read the previous books in this series and really enjoy them. Quite tense but I did guess the killer quite quickly! Overall I did enjoy the book but they are starting to get a bit predictable unfortunately #NetGalley#TheDare

This author has some dark and twisted words building to an amazingly intense story. Natalie is a cop that has been through so much but when a killer hits closer to home what will she do? Will her family be the same? Or are somethings not as they seemThank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

The Dare is Book 3 in the fabulous DI Natalie Ward series, a series that simply goes from strength to strength.

13 year old Savannah Hopkins fails to return home after school and just one day later her dead body is discovered in a local park near her home.
Natalie and her team immediately begin their investigation but as they do so another young girl goes missing.

The discovery of a web site that dares people to go missing , a suspect list as long as your arm and a similar case from the past, all keep Natalie and her dedicated team of detectives determined to find the perpetrator as they rush to solve the case before anyone else can be harmed.

Another super read as DI Natalie Ward is once again brought realistically and vividly back to life as she desperately juggles to balance her personal life, with its many issues and her very demanding professional one.

Its many great characters, an emotional and nail biting plot and storyline and plenty of twists will definitely keep you turning those pages from the very beginning to the final word.

Absolutely LOVED it- brilliant as always - Carol Wyer NEVER disappoints - 5 stars all the way from me.
Roll on Book 4- cannot wait !!!!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy for my honest review.

Wow😮I just love all the books in the Natalie Ward series. They are all such great books. The Dare was by far the best in the series in my opinion. I love how all the detectives work well with each other and have each other’s back. They are like a well oiled machine. The only thing I been having a problem with is the relationship with Natalie and her husband. I feel she should get rid of him and go for the hunky forensic scientist, they seem like they are a better fit. As far as the book plot goes, I loved it. I loved the idea of missing girls that were linked to a dare website. That was really interesting to me. I also couldn’t believe who the killer was, the whole book was filled with twists and turn. This is definitely a five star read. It was such a fast paced and easy read. Kudos to Carol Wyer for writing such a great book❤️

As I always say, I love Carol Wyer’s dark side!
I’m a big fan of this author, and I can see how much she’s grown into the crime novels with each new book. They just keep getting better and better.
This is one hell of a clever story.
When children go missing it always makes me put myself in the situation. I imagine the worst, and in books the worst usually happens.
So when Savannah didn’t come home from school I was fretting a bit.
And I had good reason to, as the body is found not far from her home.
When another girl, Harriet, went missing I had the shivers. Was there a link?
There are a few suspects, and Natalie and her team trawl through CCTV trying to find both the girl’s and the suspect’s movements. There were some people bending the truth, some red herrings thrown in. I was suspicious of everything and everyone. There are people known to both victims. It gave me lots to think about, drawing my own conclusions and suspicions.
Interviewing the suspects was extremely frustrating for Natalie, were they telling the truth or covering it up? When Natalie’s own daughter went missing I was worried sick. Could Natalie and her team uncover the truth before another life was lost, this time one very close to them.
A good time to start reading Carol Wyer’s books if you haven’t already, starting with The Birthday and then Last Lullaby. These DI Natalie Ward books are very good!
Well-paced and great writing. Extremely tense and a pleasure to read.
I look forward to the next one!
Thanks to Carol Wyer, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the review copy in which I give my honest opinion.

Wow! Just wow! Carol E Wyer has done it again! I’ve just finished reading the digital copy of The Dare kindly sent to me by #Netgalley #Bookouture and I haven’t been left disappointed!
Teenage girls go missing one by one and, one by one, their bodies are found. Seemingly many suspects and the least obvious is the killer.
Go on, read this book - you won’t be disappointed!!

Love all of Carol Wyer's books and this is no exception. As the mother/foster carer of teen girls it certainly gave me something to think about.
It lost a star for the continued story between Natalie and her husband. She needs to get rid of him!

This is the third in the series of Detective Natalie Ward books. Thirteen year old Savannah disappears only to be found dead 24 hours later. Next her friend Harriet disappears in similar circumstances and Detective Natalie Ward is heading a team to find the killer.
I did not find this as gripping as previous novels and I struggled with it. I love Carol Wyer books but unfortunately this did not live up to her previous novels.
.Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC.
