Action-packed and gripping... I couldn't help but feel while reading that this would make a great tv series or film. There are a lot of characters to keep track of and the narrative frequently flicks between them but they're well developed. Highly recommended!

Dark mystery that sucks you into a different place. A nightmare where no one wants to be. Good read. Can’t put it down. Wondering where it’s going to go And which way to turn

Thankyou to NetGalley, Sapere Books and the author, John Matthews, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of The Second Amendment in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
Well, Mr Matthews has produced yet another gripping read. I was hooked from the start.
The storyline was well thought out and written with well developed characters and a rollercoaster plot. I enjoyed it. 3.5 stars.
Well worth a read

I think that the subtitle isnt going to attract readers to The Second Amendment. I found it an entertaining, thought provoking read. The pacing was a little uneven at times, which made the story a little difficult to follow. I appreciated the layered, deep character profiles. I definitely wanted to debate and discuss what I had read, so it might be a good book discussion selection.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation/.

An interesting perspective in an issue the permeates U.S. politics. The characters are well developed and drive the story forward. Matthews puts an interesting twist on the usual themes associated with these issues.

John Matthews' The Second Amendment is a solid thriller with a strong gun control focus. The book moves at a good pace and there are some surprising developments. The plotting could have been tighter and the book jumps around a bit. Some may find the anti-gun control preaching a bit too much, although it is a very real problem that has not gotten any better since Matthews first wrote the book seventeen years ago.
Overall, it is a solid thriller, but not a great one.

What an amazing thriller! I loved the character development and stayed up way past my bedtime to find out what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this author.

It’s rare that I give up on a book. Especially one that I’ve been given the opportunity to read an advance copy of.
But......I just had to cry “enough” on this one. The premise was great. But the ever increasing cast of characters, erratically weaving in and out of the plot, made the book seem very choppy, confusing, and actually irritating. It just didn’t “flow”.
It’s a shame, really, I was looking forward to enjoying this one.

This is a complex thriller with a good plot and interesting characters. There are so many reviews, I don't think I can add anything new. So I'll just say it's a good read overall if you like political thrillers.

I had such a hard time with this book. I couldn’t get past the language... without knowing anything about the author, it was obvious he wasn’t American because the language he was using to illustrate the thoughts and words of the characters seemed so unusual, and not at all how Americans speak. Add to that the themes of racism and violence towards children... I just couldn’t. Thank you for the ARC, but this was not the book for me.

I ARC received via NetGalley and in exchange for an honest review.

This book has everything murder intrigue politics blackmail little romance with betrayal and declaration of love.

Counter-terrorism agent Josette Horvath is heading into work after dropping her son Daniel off to daycare.

As she goes out of town because she is investigating terrorist suspect who called himself The Scribe. A bomb goes off at her son daycare and as she deals with the emotions of her son may never walk again she is determined to find the bombers but as she digs deeper she wonders if The Scribe is behind it or is there something deeper going on within the US.

This was a good read. I like that you get different point of views on what we should do with gun control.
