This was my first 'Amie' book but it was an easy book to pick up and read it as a standalone.

Having spent much of my younger life in Africa and with many holidays spent there I do love books based on Africa, both past and present. However, I did not feel as drawn to this story as much as some other books I have read. The plot was good but I almost felt like a lot of the details that normally draw me into the story were missing or glossed over.

Quite captivating, so much so that I could not put it down after being halfway through , like a thrill ride that takes over for the scary part but a proverbial good read with interesting characters that challenge you to figure out just where they fit. You realize things aren't always what they appear to be.

HI, would you possibly have this book for Adobe Digital Editions?

I would like to review it but prefer to read on my PC so I can take notes. Thanks.

This is the 5th installment of Amie. Could be read as a standalone but I suggest the books be read in order for maximum enjoyment. Lucinda is a great storyteller! Recommend this series.

This was my first 'Amie' book, but it read just fine as a standalone.
Amie is forced by Ian Fleming (!) of Her Majesty's Government to take a job in Togodo, where her friend Ben, her former cameraman, has risen to be President of the tiny African country. He wants her to stay close to Ben and report back to him. At stake are mineral rights that 6 countries are vying for. Not at all happy spying on her friend, she is also devastated that she can't get hold o f Simon, her fiance and the father of her unborn baby. Simon, in the meantime, has been whisked off to London, stripped of his cellphone and computer and sent to a 'training camp' in Wales. Why, he doesn't know.
On a safari Amie has organized, the representatives of the 6 countries are wined and dined until all hell breaks loose. Amie ends up trekking through the Bush after escaping, hoping to find help while being surrounded by wildlife that wants to make her their next meal.
This is an action packed book that should totally engage fans of the travel and adventure genre; it's an exciting locale to lose yourself in. My only problem was that I couldn't really connect with either Amie or Simon, which is why I rate it 3.5 stars
