What did I just read?!?

I was intrigued by the title and cover art. I guess I thought this was going to be a fictional, humorous self-help type book. Then I realized, he is serious.

Picture this: youtube vlogger Alpha Male Strategies, pimp Bishop Don Magic Juan and "historian" Tariq Nasheed all sit at a table with the all parts of the True Colors "documentary" playing on the nearby computer and decide to write a book together. DeVon Franklin, Hill Harper and Derrick Jaxn are banging at the door trying to get in and stop the madness.

They're too late. I give you, How to Catch a Thot.

I received a complimentary copy of How to Catch a Thot (dating women) from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Upon selecting this novel, I THOUGHT it was fiction. Once I began reading it, I realized that this was a "how to" informational book. I haven't finished it yet, but I can say with great certainty that this book is hilarious! I believe the author is completely serious, which makes it all the funnier. I am also pretty certain that the author's first language is not English as many of the phrases just don't come off right. (Lost in translation, I am thinking.). It is doubtful that the sketchy advice would actually work, but with today's young women, it would really be hard to say. This book is certainly belly laugh worthy--if you happen to need one!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Apart from bad editing and bad material, I don't know what else to say about this. I barely read 2 pages of the book before quitting...Nice cover art though

This book was rather silly but it did give me pause to think of just how many insults are derived from women- their body parts, their supposed actions and such. I know have a very firm appreciation for the word fuckboy.

This book... was something else. Eventhough it's shelved under "romance" and "erotica", it's most definitely not. If you are expecting some juicy scenes, this is not the book for you. I'm not entirely sure if this book is even serious, but if it is... rather ran. How to Catch a Thot is a guide that gives you tips about different types of thots and fuckbois, where to find them and how to seduce them. It's trying so badly to be a nonfiction and serious but... it feels more like parody or even comedy.

To be more exact, I wish this book was at least a little bit funny. I was expecting comedic relief but in the end, it was just desilusional and cringey. If you really want to know how to get yourself a thot, just google it up. It's easier and cheaper.

This needs to go under the humor category, because this book totally doesn’t read as romance AND I hope it’s not a real book on how to catch thots (or the male equivalent). It’s still a rough read and pretty cringy ... not sure who the audience is really meant to be.

Horrendous lack of readability aside (formatting and typos) this is the most offensive books I've ever read. To start with I laughed it, by the end I was outraged.

If this is how men of colour treat their women or any man for that matter, we might as well still be living in caves.

If I could give this story negative stars I would.

I really thought this book was funny and read it like it was all a joke. If it was supposed to be a joke, it was hilarious and reached its potential. If it was supposed to be serious, it did not get the job done...I would be sorely disappointed if people actually read this thinking it was actually ways to get women, and I guess to an extent, it IS a way to get a THOT...

I think the main problem I've had with this book is that it doesn't belong to the stated categories on NetGalley (romance, erotica). This is rather a nonfiction trying to hit the same note as Urban Dictionary with not-so-decent-words, but in the end it's lacking the same charm that makes you procrastinate on that already mentioned website, which is way funnier.

I expected something at least a bit funny and it wasn't. There's also tendency to repeat some lines and even if I rated this book as a nonfiction, I feel like most of the things were already said in other similar books. Well, maybe not with terms such as thot or fuckboy, but that doesn't change a thing.
