I have tried with this one a couple times but I am just not able to get into it. I have picked it and set it back down multiple times. I hope people enjoy this one but it just isn’t for me! |
I enjoyed this book. After reading several of this author's thrillers, it is nice to have a change of pace once again and read a bit of her chick lit too. Chloe finds herself living in a new house, as she needed to get right away from her ex. She moves onto an estate with some interesting characters who are determined to ensure that she meets lots of other people, whether she wants to or not. Her husband seemed like a controlling person, which is exactly what Chloe didn't need since she suffers from severe anxiety in the first place and his attitude to her wasn't helping whatsoever. I have to admit that I really didn't like William one little bit and had a lot of sympathy for Chloe. I think the author did a good job of describing how someone with this disorder would go through life and how their anxiety affected them. Anyway, Chloe finds herself having all sorts of adventures in her new estate and I really liked her neighbours very much, they seemed like such nice people. This was a great book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 4.5 stars from me. Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo. |
I want to thank Netgalley for giving me a chance to read this quirky amazing book. All opinions and reviews belong to me and are solely my thoughts. Where do I start with this book, WOW. I read a lot of different reviews for this book. Because I wasn’t sure i wanted to pick this up. I’ve had a terrible reading slump and I haven’t been able to enjoy books that often. Most of them are all blah for me and all the women’s fiction I’ve read have not been impressive at all. So going into this book I was pleasantly surprised that i really likes it. It wasn’t perfect but come on I didn’t expect it to be. It was everything I need and more. It had me laughing, it had me crying and it felt good to do those things after not enjoying book after book. I’m so glad that I picked this up. |
Cute...lots of LOLs..solid chick lit... Don't forget your tea :c) **OMG! I cannot believe that these reviews haven't been done! I am so sorry they are so late!!!** |
This was a quick and enjoyable romantic comedy. I enjoyed the jokes throughout the book and absolutely loved Chloe as the main character! Looking forward to reading more from this author. Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. |
I enjoyed this. It was a quick, easy read. Very relatable. Although i never found it very funny, the jokes were quite juvenile but i enjoyed it nonetheless. |
Was not a fan of the author using Chloe's social anxiety disorder strictly as a plot device. There were so many instances in this book where it felt like the author was shoehorning something that would be "quirky and relatable" to the teen/NA audience which was so cringe. Like that scene with the main character twerking and her friend uploading a video of it onto Instagram? Hard pass. |

I received a digital arc of #SuddenlySingle from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was my first encounter with this author and I really enjoyed it. I did think it would be completely predictable but it had a lovely story along the way. I really enjoyed the journey Chloe went on in this book. Will read more by this author in the future. |

So this book ended up being a disappointment. I was all ready to read about a woman that is dealing with a separation and finding herself single after many years as part of a couple. Instead there were a whole host of other things happening in this book that in the end didn't work together for me |
I received a copy of this book through netgalley but that doesn’t effect my review. I DNFed this book at 11% DNFing yet another book makes me feel horrible. I hate DNFing books, it hurts. It actually hurts. But recently I have realised how many books are out there that I really want to read, how many books that will potentially inspire me, enrich my life and be fantastic page turners, and I realised that because of this, and because of life, I don’t have time to continue with a book that I’m really not enjoying. Even if it hurts to DNF, sometimes it’s just necessary. I didn’t like Chloe. That was the start of the downward spiral for me. I couldn’t connect to her or any of the side characters and the book didn’t have a spark to me. There was nothing to meep me going, and nothing to make me want to keep picking it up. It was starting to become a chore and I never want reading to become a chore, especially now I don’t have as much time to read as I used to anyway. This book was a very poor representation of a rom-com. It wasn’t funny, and some of the supposedly funny moments were just pure cringe. But what annoyed me the most was Chloe’s social anxiety. I was really excited to read a book about a character with social anxiety at first, but the representation was so poor it actually made me feel a little angry. Zoella’s girl online did a better job. Chloe said she had anxiety a lot, but there was never any evidence of it, and it was actually more of a plot device that a real character trait. Anxiety is a serious issue, and not something that should be used in a novel as a device to make cringe worthy ‘humour’. I am sad to DNF another book, but I am not sad about having my time freed up to read something else. |
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were appealing and well written and I felt immersed in the story throughout the book. |
Ah, this was such a charming little read. And rather educational as well! I'm ashamed to say I finished this book nearly two months ago so my thoughts on this have managed to escape. I just remember I really enjoyed it. It was funny, charming, thought-provoking. Had plenty of laugh-out-loud, a little cringey moments (that second-hand embarrasment, girl, ah!). The characters were very lovable and I really rooted for the love interests. All in all, a feel-good book I really recommend! Kinda gave me a The Kiss Quotient vibe without as much steamy parts. I guess that's what it was missing for me! |
5 Words: Relationships, friendship, betrayal, attraction, love. I think that this book was just the tonic I needed. I absolutely adored the story and Chloe, and I wished so badly that I could be part of it. I loved the added layer of Chloe's secrets, how she was so terrified of revealing herself and having peoples perspectives of her change. It was strangely relatable, even though I am in no way a secret author writing racy bestsellers. As much as I ended up wholly invested in the story, the writing itself is wonderful. It's funny and observational, and the little details really helped me fall deeper into the story. I will absolute read more by this author in future. |
This story has real charm and wit. You are able to sympathise with Chloe and her difficulties, at the same time, seeing her gradually coming out of her shell, as she gets to know a few locals. Her alter ego as a best-selling author is a clever touch as she looks about for inspiration and slowly begins to find it around her. What you see with her is certainly not what you get as she proves to have a few layers to her character which needed to be explored and resources to her character which she does not realise she has. The addition of the Singleton Club outings adds plenty of scope for humour and shows the strengths and weaknesses of the group of friends. Carol has created a warm and inviting world around Sunny Meadow Farm and I would love to be able to visit Sean's bookshop, it is so clearly evoked. I am rather hoping that she returns to some of Chloe's neighbours as I think that we are not finished with these group of characters yet. In short: Fresh starts and real laughs in this warm, charming read. Thanks to the author for a copy of the book. |
Unfortunately, I did not get to this one in time. I started reading it but did not pay close enough attention to the archive date. From the parts I did read I loved the main character and found the writing style to be clean and witty. I have added this to my library list to check out at some point this summer as I would like to know how it ends. |

I really enjoyed this book! The way it was written made it easy to visualize Chloe’s new house and all of the events she attended. I enjoyed reading about all of the characters and was satisfied with the ending! Great read! |

The storyline was good as was the writing style. However I did not always appreciate the comedy element of this book. This is an interesting read |
I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Sweet, somewhat predictable novel. It was a fun read. |

Simple and light read. All the events were really unique and Chloe and Alex's relationship was beautiful. I just felt book did not do justice to the description of social anxiety disorder. There were a lot of scenes mentioning that she struggles lot with it but hardly ones where she is actually shown struggling with it. Apart form that it was an ok read. |
This is a brilliant, laugh out loud, romcom that I thoroughly enjoyed! It deals with a range of issues with humour and empathy, and is a great story to escape into! Chloe Piper has left her cheating husband to move with her dog, Ronnie, into her new home, Sunny Meadow Barn, on a select development. She’s secretly a talented author with a raunchy best selling debut novel but the marriage breakdown has undermined her self confidence and exacerbated her social anxiety disorder. However, the current residents in this new development don’t know about any of that and she finds herself agreeing to join the group activities organised by her new neighbours, Eleanor and Fairfax. Get ready for fun, frolics, escapades and romance in this heartwarming story where friendships help heal and love will find a way, once the secrets are shared . . . . This is definitely one of my favourite reads, I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish and some of the activities the singletons get up to sound great fun, I might even be tempted to try some of them myself! There’s more than one couple finding love in this story but it is the supportive friendships which develop that are at the heart of them all. It has a real sense of family and growing together, a superb read that I have no hesitation in highly recommending. I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying doing so! |
