Another excellent book by Wilbur Smith. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to all my friends.

I've read all of Wilbur Smith''s books over the past 30 odd years and this one doesn't disappoint. Featuring a Ballantyne and a Courtney during the late 18th century Ethiopia, a follow on from Triumph Of The Sun, beautifully described as one would expect from this author.

I have been captivated by Wilbur Smith’s stories for 30 years. They transport me to another world full of African adventure. King of Kings does not fail to disappoint. Set in North Africa over 7 years in the late 19th century, this is one of the best Smith books I have read in a long time. The story is full of twists and turns and had me hooked from the start. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Highly recommended.

King is Kings is a follow up to The Triumph of the Sun which I read many years ago, you do not need to have read this book but events then are mentioned but not confusingly so. Ryder Courtney and Penrod Ballantyne take centre stage, starting in Egypt in the late 1800’s it follows Ryder’s journey into Abyssinia to build a silver mine with a great many trials and tribulations along the way.
Meanwhile in Cairo, Amber Penrod’s fiancée breaks off their engagement after being told some unsavoury facts about her future husband. Penrod’s story then goes from the depths of depravity to one of salvation.
Although two interwoven stories they are told with with gusto, featuring a host of wonderful well rounded characters, great, good and pure evil, an exciting read.
My only niggle would be that I would of preferred two of the characters to have come together a lot sooner, it was far too near the end of the book for my liking, but that’s just me!
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

Another good Courtney/Ballantine yarn of late 18th century Africa this time Ethiopia beautifully described as one would expect from this author. Loss, love, violent action, treachery, loyalty are all there in abundance . Battle scenes graphically depicted, the quality is still all there after the many years of this series. Emotional as ever long may it continue!

Wilbur Smith has written over 40 books and King of Kings once again shows why he has sold so many copies.

The story moves along at a decent pace and keeps you entertained throughout as the main characters face multiple adventures and threats as they try to establish a silver mine.

The book has clearly been well researched but it is a nice easy read and one that I thoroughly recommend

There is absolutely nothing that I can say in this review that can remotely do this book the justice it deserves.
I grew up reading Wilbur's books, borrowed from my uncle, and each and every time can't wait to start the next one.
And once again this book doesn't disappoint. The story features a Ballantyne and a Courtney, and that already gives you the idea of how well the story would be.
I've been reading this book for a week already, not because its bad, because I read only a chapter or two a day, I didn't want it to finish!!!!
Its well written, well research and really well worth your time and effort!
Highly, and I mean it, highly recommended.
