This is the second DCI Anna Tate novel and is even more compelling than the first. Anna is given the case of a young woman who has been discovered naked with her throat cut, in the woods. The murder victim just happens to be the daughter of an ex police commissioner. Holly had been a freelance model. Her lover had also been an MP. Anna. Is now under pressure to get this murder case solved. In addition to this we alos find out more about Anna's daughter who had been kidnapped by her ex husband twelve years ago.
Yet another fast paced excellent read by this author. Looking forward to reading the next books in this series

Really enjoyed getting to conclude Anna Tate’s story following the cliffhanger in ‘in safe hands’. Tense, fast paced and exciting. Great novel

Despite being the second in a series, I delved right into AT YOUR DOOR and couldn't put it down. And although it picks up where the previous one left off, it can still be read as a standalone. There's nothing worse than coming into a series and not knowing what is going on because every book leads into another. But this one is so nail-biting and page-turning, I don't think I had time to notice.

DCI Anna Tate and her team are called to investigate the murder of a young woman found naked with her throat cut on Barnes Common. The victim, it turns out, is the daughter of a former police commissioner. Enter a prominent politician as her lover and Anna is under pressure to solve this murder quickly and cleanly.

However, Holly's murder is not the only case that consumes Anna. Ten years ago, her then 2 year old daughter was abducted by her ex-husband and Anna has never given up searching for her. Chloe would now me 12 and as the narrative shifts between the current case and that of Anna's search for her daughter, the reader is given a glimpse into Anna's tortured mind.

AT YOUR DOOR is a fast paced, addictive and thrilling crime thriller that will have you turning the pages faster than the speed of light. I love how this story is darker than your usual procedurals and being drawn into Anna's private hell gives us pause to empathise with her.

A gripping read, AT YOUR DOOR is perfect for fans of gritty and dark crime fiction such as Katerina Diamond and M.J. Arlidge.

I would like to thank #JPCarter, #Netgalley and #AvonBooks for an ARC of #AtYourDoor in exchange for an honest review.

Another delightfully addictive story from the author!! I never learn my lessons clearly, and started this before going to bed. I then spent the entire night glued to the story, partly because I couldn’t put it down.... and partly because when I finally realised the time at 3am, I absolutely could NOT sleep 😂 so hey, might as well finish it right?

So i did.

The story twists and weaves in so many unexpected ways, it’s absolutely genius!! My favourite from Carter so far, this was absolutely amazing!

Very well written and even though this is book 2 in the series I didn't have to read the first one to know what was going on. Good characters and a gripping storyline.

At Your Door by J.P. Carter is the second installment of a series focused on DCI Anna Tate. Having not read the introduction to the series, I venture to say that this book works absolutely fine as a standalone. I will, however, add the first novel, In Safe Hands, to my 'tbr' list. I look forward to delving deeper into the character of DCI Tate, and would love to catch up on the backstory of her daughter's disappearance.

DCI Anna Tate is called in to investigate the murder of a young woman, and a prominent politician appears to be the prime, and only, suspect. But this particular case is not all that consumes Anna. Ten years previously, her two year old daughter had been abducted by her ex-husband, and Anna has never given up hope of finding her. As the narrative shifts between the current case and the ten years in which she has continued to search for her darling Chloe, we are able to glean a glimpse of Anna's tortured psyche.

The author has crafted a gripping police procedural and a decade old mystery, and woven them harmoniously into an absolutely engrossing and fully compelling read. I did not want this one to end, and look forward to the continuation of the series.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for this ARC.

Loved the overarching storyline surrounding Anna and her missing daughter Chloe! It keeps the reader really connected to Anna throughout, and I was very emotionally invested. I also thought that the case itself was brilliant, there were a lot of suspicious characters so it was hard for the reader to guess, and I thought the twist at the end was really cleverly done.

Favourite moments were the scenes with Sophie, a new character in this book, and slowly piecing together her story and the link with Anna,

Favourite character has to be Anna – her determination, resilience and utter patience make her a really likeable character, and as this is now the second book in the series, her character is more established as well.

Final comments: This was a generally fast-paced, complex mystery, with an added sense of tension with Anna’s own storyline. I will definitely be continuing the series.

So when I first started this book it did not capture me right away and I am not sure why. But I gave it a second run and enjoyed it. Anna Tate has the backstory of having her daughter kidnapped at age 2 by her ex-husband and that backstory is one significant part of this book. There is also a murder mystery which I have to say I did not figure out ahead of time. There were many twists. The backstory I did predict some parts of it and I am happy that the third in the series is out so I can further follow that story. I have not read book one but did not find that affecting my reading of this book. The author covered the necessary back story. I enjoy Anna Tate and am already into book 3 so I can stay with her.

I was given a copy by Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

This was an amazing follow up to the first Anna Tate book (which I loved). The backstory of the abduction of Anna's daughter, 10 years ago, is as a great addition to the main story line and adds suspense and intrigue to the writing. A very interesting plot and as it unfolded there were several suspects for the murder. This book certainly kept me guessing and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a crime thriller!

There is a mystery with the murdered victims and there were many involved with her death.

Sadly, my guesses where incorrect. The way Holly was killed was far from what I was thinking. Two thumbs up to the author!

Another interesting storyline is about DI Anna's missing daughter and she was finally reunited with her. Of course, it was a cliff hanger in the end! I will definitely be looking forward to the third installment in this series!

Thank you to Avon and Netgalley for the ARC!

The 2 in a series but can be read as a stand alone. Interesting plot that keeps you guessing.

This is the second book in the DI Anna Tate series, and I enjoyed this one even more than the first one!! While still trying, after ten years, to solve the disappearance of her daughter, Anna has to investigate the death of a young girl found in the woods. Nothing is as it seems, and I was captivated until the very end.
Highly recommended.

Wow JP Carter has renewed my love of thrillers with this fantastic novel which i truly found extremely difficult to put down.
DCI Anna Tate is the strong and likeable main character and she will lead you through this investigation at a remarkable pace and at no point will she leave you feeling bored or disillusioned.
As well as the murder investigation Anna has to deal with her own private heartache of trying to trace her daughter who has been missing for ten years.
Can't wait to read more of this series - I would give it 6 stars of i could - loved it.

The second in the DCI Anna Tate series, another brilliant read.
Anna is called to deal with the death of a young woman in a remote spot. Holly’s mother is an ex-police chief and a current politician aiming to be the mayor of London.
This is pressure enough, but when it emerges that Holly was involved with a high profile politician, the case hits the news.
Running through this is the story of Chloe, Anna’s now 11 year old daughter who was snatched by her ex-husband. Anna has searched relentlessly for her, could she be close to finding her?
Really enjoyed this and can't wait for the next one.

This is my second book my this author and I have loved them both. This author really knows how to bring the characters to life & draw his readers completely into the story. I was hooked from the first page and was sad when it ended because i did not want it to be over.
Both the main story line and the secondary story line were so well done. My favorite one was Anna and her search for her daughter. I hope the author keeps the series going. I love Anna and want more !!!!!! I'm seriously hooked. At Your door is a fast paced book with lots of twist and turns, plenty of action and great character development. The fact that this author can keep 2 story lines going in one book and never get boring is amazing . I became immersed in the storyline at the very beginning of the book. The characters are interesting and the book was a page-turner.The writing is top notch and the plot is even better. The ending has such an unexpected twist that will leave you with your mouth hanging open.If you haven't read any of his books yet, and enjoy great crime thrillers, I would definitely suggest giving them a try.
This series is well worth your time and money. It's packed with suspense and action. This author can not write fast enough. I am already craving the next book in this series.
As always if you like the book you read please take the time to leave a review for the author in places like goodreads & Amazon. It does not have to be long. Just a few sentences saying you liked the book will do. Authors really appreciate every review they get.
