It’s always a worry when you love a first book so much that the follow up won’t live up to it. I told everyone about the first book in this series and they all loved it and this is no different. It had me hooked from the beginning and I love how the story with Chloe’s disappearance continued to unravel alongside the new case. I can see how the third book is going to be set up to delve deeper into that story from the ending and i for one can’t wait. Highly highly recommend. Thanks to the author, Netgalley and Avon for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Having never read a J.P.Carter novel before I was pleasantly surprised by At Your Door. It's the type of crime thriller you can gobble up in an evening, full of exciting twists and turns that will keep you hooked! Would definitely recommend.

#AtYourDoor #NetGalley I loved the first book in this series so much that I was really excited to get to read the second in the series. Although I always worry that the second book may not live up to the brilliantness of the first in this case there was nothing to worry about. I love crime thrillers that are full of action and this one has it in abundance, I just kept turning the pages late into the night in a bid to discover who and how Anna would uncover the truth. I loved the side story relating to Anna's daughter Chloe and look forward to seeing how this relationship will develop in future. A blistering 5 stars!!

I couldn’t wait to read the second book in this series featuring DCI Anna Tate. I loved the first book and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. Anna is heading an investigation into the murder of Holly, a model and whose mother was Assistant Commissioner and Mayor of London. Her boyfriend was an MP. This puts Anna under pressure as multi secrets and suspects are revealed. Anna is still searching for her missing daughter Chloe who was abducted by her father. New clues emerge that have Anna hoping they will be reunited soon but she knows that she cannot allow herself to be distracted from the case. It is an action packed book, filled with tension, suspense and lots of suspects that will leave you guessing until the end. A highly recommended read. I can’t wait fir book number three.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Book Review
For the last few months I have wondered is the market becoming over saturated with crime series books. There are just so many to keep up with and most of them so good.
It really is hard to chose which one to pick up and follow because you do become invested in a series don't you...
But if I could recommend just ONE to you today, it would be this series by author JP Carter, the DCI Anna Tate series.
I find it just utterly brilliant...
"At Your Door" is the second book in the series and picks up a few weeks later from Book 1 "In Safe Hands".
I feel this author has nailed it in terms of finding a great character in Anna Tate.
She has her back story, her own issues to deal with and in both books, book 1 & 2, we get to see her run the biggest investigations of her career, while dealing with her own traumatic and heartbreaking event in her personal life.
I found both storylines superb and completely engrossing. I literally could not put them down. They are easy to read, hugely entertaining and the author injects the right amount of suspense at just the right time.
In "At Your Door", when the dead body of a beautiful model and the daughter of a member of parliament turns up, DCI Anna Tate must run the investigation of her life to find the murderer.
All eyes are on her during this one and no mistakes can be made...
She is also dealing with a renewed interest in the case of her missing daughter Chloe and she can feel they are getting closer to finding her.
It sure does make for a compelling read....
Do please check them out if you get a minute.
I don't think you will regret it...

Stunning! My heart was racing rapidly at the end of this book. You actually get 2 for the price of 1 as there are two investigations that come to a head. Can't say too much about one of them as it involves the back story of DCI Anna Tate's abducted child. All I will say is WOW!
The other investigation is that of murdered Holly Blake, a young 20-something model whose mother was an ex Assistant Commissioner for the Met and is now running for the poistion of Mayor of London. Her step-dad Theo is a prominent lawyer and a high ranking MP Nathan Wolf also becomes embroiled in the investigation as a suspect. Ex boyfriend, stalker Ross is a suspect too and then there is aunt Freya and her husband Robert who enter the scene when yet more secrets are uncovered.
This book is even better than the first In Safe Hands. I love the police partnership between Anna Tate and DI Max Walker as well as the relationship Anna has with her social worker boyfriend Tom. Will she eventually commit to him, let him move in and allow herself to be loved? And will she pull off another successful investigation and discover why Holly Blake ended up naked under a pile of leaves on Barnes Common?
The third book in this series cannot be published quick enough for me. Please hurry up JP Carter, pretty please!

Im not really a fan of detective stories but this book was actually quite good. It is number 2 in a series but its not essential to read in order.

At Your Door is a great new release in the DCI Anna Tate series; I heard great things about the first, In Safe Hands, and was hoping that the second would live up to this reputation. It certainly did! What I love about this series is that it has so many elements of a great crime series for me – a strong female lead, plenty of police procedurals, some twists without being unbelievable, and an easy to read but interesting plot. At Your Door ticked all these boxes and was a thoroughly entertaining read!

I feel that this could easily be enjoyed as a stand alone novel, but if you read them in order you’ll of course understand a little more about Anna as a character and her past.

This book has almost two concurrent storylines: one focusing on Anna and the team’s investigation into the murder of a young model, Holly – who also happens to be the daughter of a prominent politician; and another to do with Anna’s missing daughter Chloe. Both storylines are really intriguing and kept me turning the pages throughout – I read this book in a matter of hours!

There are some gritty parts to this story as well as suspense, and this in addition to the great characters and the well-constructed plot, makes this a truly brilliant read in what is definitely now one of my favourite new crime series!

This was a great book and althoough I did not read the first book I did not feel lost because there was so much detail given. This book had twists and turns that I could not predict. A great read!!

DCI Anna Tate is called to investigate the murder of a woman Holly Blake, who is dumped on a common. The murder seems to implicate a high profile MP, but then the woman's parents also seem to be hiding something and Holly's father's alibi does not seem to be holding up.
In the meanwhile, Anna,Tate has an ongoing tragedy in her life. Her daughter was abducted when she was just two years old and Anna has been following leads and searching for her ever since.
This thriller is the second in a series.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading J. P. Carter's first novel to feature DCI Anna Tate. The first book in the series is called 'In Safe Hands'. I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of the next book in the series called 'At Your Door'. Well ladies and gents the wait is over as 'At Your Door' was released on 22nd July in e-book format and 8th August 2019 in paperback format. I dived straight into the book and blooming nora it is certainly a read and a half. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'At Your Door' but more about that in a bit.
What can I say about Detective Chief Inspector Anna Tate? She is certainly one hell of a courageous and determined woman. Her personal life has been traumatic to say the least. Her husband fled with their daughter and he has moved around from place to place, which makes tracing them even more difficult. Anna hasn't seen her daughter in roughly 10 years. Naturally she misses her daughter and she has tried everything she can think of to find her daughter with limited success. I really feel for Anna and I can't begin to imagine what she must be going through with the not knowing where her daughter is and fearing for her daughter's safety when she attends crime scenes. I did wonder if Anna's private life might encroach on her professional life but for the majority of the time Anna keeps her private life and her professional life in separate boxes. Anna is a successful and dedicated police officer, who strives to carry out her role to the best of her ability. She is in charge of a small team and the team is very successful. Anna leads from the front and she will back her team members to the hilt but she would be the first one to let you know when you made a mistake. Anna takes on more than her fair share of the workload and often carries out the more dangerous and risky tasks. Anna is determined, conscientious, stubborn, diplomatic, tactful, sensitive, compassionate and sensitive. She seems to be the sort of boss I would love to work for. I took to Anna from the start and it didn't take long for me to consider Anna to be a good friend of mine.
Oh my giddy aunt, 'At Your Door' certainly proved to be an addictive read for me. As soon as I began to read that was it, I knew I wouldn't be able to put the book down and woe betide anybody who tried to prise the book out of my hands. The book wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because the book went everywhere with me. The book had developed a hold over me and I didn't want to risk breaking that hold by putting the book to one side for even a second. I managed to binge read the book over the course of a day, but because I was enjoying the book so much I didn't notice the speed with which the time was passing nor how quickly the pages were turning. It seemed to take next to no time to reach the end of the book, which I was most disappointed about. I wasn't disappointed with how the story ended but I was enjoying the storylines, the characters and the author's writing style so much that I just didn't want the book to end.
'At Your Door' is brilliantly written. The author certainly caught my attention from the start with a prologue that is truly shocking and he kept my attention throughout the book by keeping the story fresh and the characters interesting. The author writes so realistically and uses such great descriptions that I really did feel as though I was character in the book myself and that I was also a member of Anna's team. The story starts slow but much like a snowball rolling down a hill, the story gathers momentum leading to a tense and dramatic conclusion.
Reading this book was much like being on a scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with more twists and turns than you would find on a 'Snakes & Ladders' board. Some of the twists I guessed and some that I didn't see coming and when they came along, I was left stunned and I had the breath knocked out of me.
In short, 'At Your Door' is one very good read. I thought that 'In Safe Hands' was good but for me, 'At Your Door' blows 'In Safe Hands' out of the water. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers and particularly to those readers who enjoy books written by the likes of Katerina Diamond and M. J. Arlidge. I can't wait to read what J. P. Carter comes up with next. Here's hoping that we don't have too long to wait. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Unfortunately, I had a terrible time becoming interested in this book. The murder of Holly Blake was the main plot and the subplot was regarding the abduction of Anna’s child, which happened in the first book. In my case, had there not been a subplot I would have found the book extremely hard to finish. However, in all fairness, I didn’t read the first book in this series, which might have helped.

Also, though I like to be reminded of things, the story was very repetitive. And I’m not talking about in reference to the previous book, where Anna’s child was abducted, I’m referring to this book. There were constant reminders of who a certain person was or what they’d previously said, etc.

The only suspense I felt was that of locating Anna’s daughter. I was curious about the outcome of that more than anything, and how it would be handled.

What Concerned Me:
For whatever reason, I just didn’t feel very interested in the first part of this book. It was okay, it just didn’t grab me. And as I mentioned earlier, there was a lot of repetition.

What I Liked Best:
I liked the subplot and I was very interested in the outcome. In my opinion, the author handled the situation as well as it could have been under the circumstances. I was completely satisfied with it.

My Rating: Even though I’ve given this 3 Stars, please read more reviews. Many people speak quite highly of the book. This just may not have been my cup of tea.

Writing style and pace were of average quality
An ok book

I really enjoyed the previous book in the series, thought DCI Anna Tate was tenacious and thorough. I immediately liked her.
In this one, she is again brilliant, approaching what proves to be a sensitive case involving MPs showing diligence and professionalism whilst having her own personal turmoil.
The perpetrator was a surprise but I had picked up a clue in the story which led me to this person.
The back story was rumbling on which I thought was brought to a tumultuous end.
Great writing, full of excitement and police procedurals.

Another gripping read in the Detective Anna Tate series. The backstory of the abduction of Anna's daughter, 10 years ago, is as nerve wracking as the plot which centres around the murder of a young woman. A very interesting plot and as it unfolded there were several suspects for the murder. This book certainly kept me guessing. A really good read

A young model is found dead. She was stabbed and naked and the search is on to find her killer. As DCI Anna Tate delves into the life of the victim, Holly Blake, she uncovers a sordid world which may well have led to her death. As the story develops and the case becomes more difficult to solve, Anna has new developments in her personal life. Ten years previously, her ex-husband kidnapped her daughter and while still desperately searching for answers, she tries not to allow her own problems to overshadow her ability to do her job. At times slow in pace but never dull, I raced to the end to get the answers I craved. However, although I did guess the killer I didn’t predict the actual storyline and despite my smugness at working it out, I still enjoyed this well worked story. Anna Tate is an interesting character and I look forward to reading more involving this detective.

*thank you to Netgalley, Avon Books UK and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

4 stars.

I am not crying. I'm not crying, I swear. These? Ohh they aren't tears, my eyes are just leaking.

This book! Ohh my god! The last 10% was just intense! It did not end how I'd thought it would given all I'd previously read in the story, but wow. I can't believe I have to wait 5 months for the third book in this amazing series. It's going to be a very long 5 months.

I loved so much about this story. It follows on from book 1 and not much time at all has passed which I appreciated. It made it easier to get into the story. Like the first, this to was full of mystery of what really happened and how. I was surprised by the outcome but I felt that the author chose it very well. Ohh there is so much I can't say but this was such a delight to read and I wanted to read it faster that I did. It's not often that I find books in a series that are Mystery Thriller types where the second book is just as good as the first.

I liked that with this book that it also had the two stories intertwining. One story was about Holly Blake, the girl who was murdered. I loved that I had picked the wrong ending for this. It's always good to have a surprising outcome. The second story was about DCI Anna Tate and her missing daughter. Now I can not go into that but I can say that I really enjoyed the suspense of it and the fact that it threw a twist at me! Again, so much I wanna say but I'm buying my tounge!

Have I mentied how much I want book 3? This series is amazing and I really really like DCI Anna Tate. I find her such a wonderful character. I think her boyfriend Tom needs a shout out aswell for how great he is.

I can honestly not think of a bad thing about this book or anything I didn't like. I'm adding J.P Carter to my list of favourite authors. I highly recommend this series. It will keep you hooked until way past the very end.

Whoa! OMG! What a ride, it's hard trying to write with tears in my eyes! This is a fantastic read; I am thrilled to have found a new author! The death is atrocious, as are all murders! The cover is not right for this story; don't be fooled by it! It's a tale of a political sex scandal, and the desperate hunt, and horrific ending of the quest for Chloe; DCI Tate's daughter, who has been missing ten years! As far as the murder, I knew the minute I met whomever, no spoilers! I cannot even tell you how I knew, but I did. I am a long-time Mystery fan! It is too well done to spoil that part of it; this is set at a realistic fast-paced, up and down, nerve-wracking speed. Two different stories are running side by side! There is one thing I will say, if I had been Alice's Mother, I would have bought a gun from somewhere, especially after what happened to James. One thing about women from the South; if a mad man came after my child, they would be dead before they were able to get anywhere close. I would be the hunter, and I would not miss!
I highly recommend! Thank you Netgalley!
