Anna is given the case of a young woman who has been found naked, with her throat cut, in the woods. We also get more on the backstory about Anna's daughter who had been kidnapped by her ex husband twelve years ago. The murder victim just happens to be the daughter of an ex police commissioner who's now an MP. Holly had been a freelance model, her lover was also an MP. Anna is now under pressure to get this murder case solved.

This book in my opinion is better than the first. It's gripping and fast paced. I like the authors style in writing. The plot is well constructed with with several twists that kept me guessing. A police procedural that is very enjoyable. Anna is getting closer to finding her daughter and the developments lead to a dramatic ending to this book. I look forward to reading more books in this very likeable series.

When her home is checked they find secrets that she’s been hiding that send shockwaves through her family.
The girl’s mum used to be high up in the Police force and is now an MP and is devastated by her daughter’s death.
The press don’t care about feelings and splash the story everywhere, putting more pressure on Anna and the team to find the killer.
Anna is also getting closer to finding her daughter and developments lead to a dramatic ending of the book.
I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one.
This is a highly addictive crime series that you won’t want to end.

Compulsive reading, this is an addictive suspenseful psychological thriller like no other.

The plot is unpredictable with lots of twists and turns along with solid engaging characters.
There is also a sense of dread as the story deals with the deep and dark corners of the human psych.

I very much enjoyed this and would recommend it to anyone!

I loved DCI Anna Tate, and I loved author J. P. Carter style of writing this story. It is bloody brilliant, if I may say so. It is a police procedural where Anna was called to solve the murder of a young girl Holly whose body was found in the woods. Anna Tate was supported by a good hardworking team, forensics, and sheer dogmindedness and commitment to solve the murder.

My second book by J. P. Carter, and I was so deliriously happy when the author gave me a second story about Anna's daughter running parallel to the main one. Anna's daughter had been kidnapped by her ex husband 12 years ago, and her search was on.

I loved Anna, I know I am repeating the sentence, but the way she could compartmentalize her personal and professional life was nothing short of brilliance. Knowing that her daughter was so close yet so far could create havoc in a mother's mind. It is the author's sheer talent that has etched a character like Anna who has now become so close to my heart.

The plot lines of both the story were convoluted. Nothing was at it appeared. The story of Holly went through various curves. Just when I thought it had reached a finale, there was another layer to it. Whoa!! Made for exciting reading. The parallel story about her daughter had a gamut of emotions running through it, along with a twist. Omg can you see what this author can do?!!

J. P. Carter's books seem to have hypnotized me. I was supposed to red only for an hour, but to my amazement, I spent the entire morning reading this book. I clearly was completely lost in the book. As you can guess, I loved the book, the character, and this author.

At Your Door is the second book in the DCI Anna Tate series by J P Carter and it is a fast moving police thriller hat keeps you hooked from the first page to the last one.

There are two distinct storylines to this book but the author deftly manages to ensure that things do not get confusing whilst allowing both stories to take shape.

There are a number of twists and turns that kept me interested throughout this book which I definitely recommend

Book 2 in the DCI Anna Tate series. Woman found dead in woods, who is she? There are 3 suspects and all are known to the corpse. Which one did it? Lots of twists and turns. There's a second storyline going on. DCI Anna Tate's daughter has been missing for 10 years. There are more progressive knowledge about what happened to Chloe where her dad Matthew never returned her to her mother after a weekend stay with father. I must say that with the ending, does this mean there's more to come in the series? I do hope so

Brilliant read, well worth your time.

Ooooh if I thought in safe hands was good - then this was outstanding! I could not put it down!!
Well written, great characters and a super exiting back story involving Anna’s missing daughter Chloe.
My heart skipped a few beats at times it was so exciting!
I think J.P Carter is my new favourite author and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for Anna and her team next time!

As soon as I started reading ‘At Your Door’ I knew I was going to enjoy it as the plot was well-written with lots of drama and excitement, convincing suspects, and twists and turns. I like the character of Anna Tate who comes over as tough and totally dedicated to finding the truth. I was completely engrossed from page one and although I guessed the identity of the killer early on the final twist still took me by surprise. I can wholeheartedly recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys a fast-paced and action-packed police thriller.

At Your Door is the second book in the DCI Anna Tate series. Last year I read the first book - In Safe Hands and absolutely loved it so I was excited to read the next book. It certainly lived up to my expectations and once again left me wanting more - bring on book 3!!

This book picks up just a few weeks after the events of In Safe Hands. This book can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading them in order to get the full back story of Anna. Anna and her team are called to a horrific murder scene at Barnes Common. A young woman has been murdered and her identity makes this a high profile case, throwing Anna into the spotlight once again. The woman is the daughter of a prominent MP and the family is hiding all sorts of secrets. While all of this is happening there has also been developments in the case of Anna's missing daughter Chloe. Anna struggles to stay on top of both cases and is in serious danger of burnout.

Wow, fantastic modern thriller about DCI Anna Tate. The second in the series where she deals with gruesome murder. Also trying to find her daughter Chloe who vanished ten years ago, kidnapped by her father.

Police procedural set in and around London. Main character is a gritty female detective who continues to. hunt for her abducted daughter as well as solving a tricky case.. Lots of twists and a dramatic conclusion.

Who murdered Holly Blake and left her corpse in a park? DCI Anna Tate is trying to figure that out even as a more personal and important case billows back up. I missed the first book but was able to immediately understand the situation with Chloe, Anna's daughter who was taken by her ex 1o years ago when Chloe was 2. Age enhancement has put Chloe back on the radar, with a new photo published and so there's a new lead and more info and, well, no spoilers. While the two threads are both well done (there are good twists in the Holly situation as well), the more emotional one is, obviously, Anna's hunt for Chloe. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is a well plotted thriller with one darn good character in Anna.

The story was interesting and the characters pretty well developed. However, I kept feeling like we weren't getting the full story - especially as the characters interacted. I would read others from Carter but would only give it two stars.

Absolutely fantastic had me gripped!!! Loved it! Can't wait for more from.this author. Storyline was great, characters were easy to.connect with

At your Door By J.P Carter is the second in the DCI Anna Tate series. I have not read the first but, you can read this as a standalone.
A young woman is found dead on Barnes common and when she is identified, it happens that she is the daughter of ex police commissioner turned MP. Her Name Holly Blake a Freelance Model, not only that, her lover is also an MP. DI Anna Tate is under pressure from her bosses and the media to find the killer.
We also continue to learn the search of Anna’s daughter Chloe. Who was abducted by her ex-husband, Anna hasn’t seen her in ten years but after a newspaper interview, new leads open for her? Sophie who has been looking after Chloe (Alice she is now called) for 7 years after Sophie’s husband was murdered by her husband. But Chloe disappears one day and Sophie needs Anna’s help to find her.
This is a gripping fast paced thriller, that I really enjoyed especially about the hunt for Chloe. I loved it so much I will be reading the others in this series.

It's my first read from the author and although I haven't read the first book in the series I didn't felt like missing anything because the author has given plenty clues and details about what happened in the past that I could see a bigger picture of the story.
I always loved policed procedural stories and this book didn't disappoint me at all.
The two different stories/cases are full of twists and turns , some were predictable some were very unexpected and that's what made me read the book in one sitting and I'll definitely recommend this book to any of my friends who are looking for a great read.
I'll looking forward to read more books by the author in the series because the main character is one of my favourites so far this year.

It is just two weeks since the conclusion of her last case but birthday celebrations are put on hold when Anna and the team get called out to a murder. A young woman has been found murdered in a Barnes park. She is soon identified as freelance model Holly Blake and what they discover about Holly’s life and friends brings them a world of pressure and press interest. In the meantime a newspaper interview about Anna’s missing daughter, Chloe, produces some leads and fresh hope.

I thoroughly enjoyed At Your Door which has two compelling plot lines and completely unexpected resolutions. The two stories run in tandem as the narrative alternates between them. Holly’s murder is a self contained plot but the Chloe tale is a continuation from the previous novel, In Safe Hands but to be fair the author recaps all the salient points so there is no need to have read it before starting this one.

I love a good procedural so I was surprised to find Chloe’s story the more compelling of the two. Don’t get me wrong, both are well constructed plots with a series of reveals in all the right places, several twists and the aforementioned unexpected resolutions but the Chloe plots edges it for tension, mystery and emotion. I was gripped, desperate to know where it was going and why. In comparison the scope of Holly’s investigation is so wide she kind of gets lost in it so it’s hard to feel the same affinity although I loved the depiction of the press hysteria surrounding her murder which seems extremely realistic.

I don’t feel that I know DCI Anna Tate all that well, even after two novels. I like the way she grabs hold of her cases with authority, rattling off lists of tasks in a clear headed way. That’s my idea of a professional police officer. Mostly, though, she’s defined by her loss of and hunt for Chloe who was kidnapped by her father ten years previously as a two year old. It would be good to see her personality expanded in future novels.

At Your Door is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

While there was great potential with this book, I struggled with the pacing and the writing style. I’m not sure if it had something to do with the fact that I hadn’t read the first book in the series but I found myself struggling at times to get through. Overall it was ok but I don’t know that I would recommend it to others. I’m not sure if reading the first book in the series prior to this would have changed my opinion.

I loved the first book in this series In Safe Hands which I awarded five stars. I was really looking forward to to learning more about Anna Tate and the search for her child who was kidnapped by her then husband ten years ago. In this book Anna is given the case of a young woman found naked in the woods with her throat cut. Nothing is what it seems. Also her personal life is thrown I to chaos as she has news of her daughter. This is a real page turner, lots of action, packed with tension and suspense and plenty of twists and turns. I read this book in one sitting finally turning the last page at 2.am. A very tired and very happy reader. An easy five stars and so Highly Recommended.
