An ok police procedural, however found this a bit of a slog at times. Felt the subplot around Anna’s daughter more interesting, especially in the last 20/30 or so pages. The main story around the murder of a young model seemed rather drawn out and the writing style is still a bit jerky and clunky.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the arc and giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my review.

So starting this book, I didn't think i was going to be able to get into it. Boy was I wrong! Awesome book. It caught my attention pretty quickly. I never was able to guess on who killed her-just didn't seem to be enough obvious clues for me to guess. However, never ever would have thought it was the person it ended up being. The suspense was good. The ending was good. I will have to go back and read her first book. Love this new author.

A really great and solid police procedural. It was interesting because it had the major duel storyline which means that JP Carter really packed a lot of plot into the story. I haven't read his first book in this series but that didn't affect my enjoyment of this title at all. I was able to come into this book with no prior knowledge of Anna and that was completely fine!

Overall, it had some twists and turns and many plausible suspects so it's quite hard to figure out whose done the murder until the very end. I would for sure read another title by this author.

I received an ARC from NetGalley/the publisher for my honest review.

I had difficulty getting into this book--there seemed to be too much going on and not enough attention paid to either of the ongoing stories.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon for the advance digital copy of At Your Door by J.P. Carter. I enjoyed this novel. DCI Anna Tate investigates the murder of a young model. Anna's daughter was kidnapped at age two by Anna's ex-husband. While trying to solve the murder case Anna also investigates sightings of her missing daughter.

The murder of an aspiring model whose body is left in undergrowth on Barnes Common is just the start of a complicated case for DCI Anna Tate and her team. When the identity of the victim is confirmed they find themselves thrust into a world of prominent political and law enforcement personalities who are all involved with the death or its aftermath in some way or another.

At the same time an age enhancement photo of Anna's missing daughter, Chloe, is published in a London paper and her cautious optimism is bolstered when someone thinks they recognise her.  Both cases, unbeknownst to Anna, hurtle towards their denouement at roughly the same time increasing the pressure of working in the public eye to almost impossible levels.

Some parts of this book were very good, others, unfortunately, not quite so much. Thankfully the murder case conclusion was, to me at least, a total surprise and worked very well indeed, as did the actual ending of the book but, while these things weren't flagged as obvious, other parts were definitely seen from afar and it was a disappointment that the author felt their very good plotline didn't stand up without them.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first book or good British crime novels as a whole.

The second book in the DCI Anna Tate series and a great follow up to “In Safe Hands”.

Anna is heading up a high profile case after the body of a young woman was found on Barnes Common and to make matters worse and pile the pressure on, she is the daughter of a police commissioner turned politician, all shouting for answers…. With umpteen suspects and no clues…..No pressure then!!!

As and aside as we know from the first book, Anna’s daughter Chloe was abducted by Anna’s ex-husband 12 years ago and the media have highlighted the case as Anna made quite a name for herself after the nursery kidnappings only weeks previous. She did a big ex-pose in a two part with the newspaper, she found out her ex was murdered but what of her daughter…. A woman at work reads this piece by Anna and suddenly her world comes crashing down around her… .cannot say anymore for fear of ruining it but strap yourselves in and get ready for the ride.

Again another winner in my book a good solid read with some twists to boot!!!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Avon Books UK for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I have read the previous book in the series and was looking forward to delve into this one. The story was really engrossing and kept me wanting to read on. I also like how the main character is very realisticly portrayed.

This is the second book in the DCI Anna Tate series. It could be read as a standalone book but to understand Anna's past it would be worth reading the first one, In Safe Hands. I enjoyed this book more than the other. I loved finding out about Anna's missing daughter and for me that was the best part of the story. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Thank you NetGalley for my copy.

This is the second book in the DCI Anna Tate series and having really enjoyed the first, I had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately I found the main plot, that of the murder of model Holly Blake, a bit boring. In fact, had it not been for the sub plot, I may not have even finished the book.
We were introduced to the story of the abduction of Anna's daughter in book one, In Safe Hands, but this book gave us much more detail. Throughout this book the abduction story ran side by side with the murder and added much needed suspense. This is what kept me turning the pages and it would be this that would have me recommend the book to others.
Review will be posted on both Goodreads.com and Amazon.co.uk.

DCI Anna Tate is working a high profile murder case only weeks after the kidnapping case of the nursery children. The media are all over Anna because of her daughter’s abduction and she is in the public eye. While working the case she gets news that there has been sightings of a girl matching her daughter could this be true?

This was as great as the first one and I loved it. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book featuring DCI Anna Tate and it is just as good as the first.

A young woman has been found dead on Barnes Common and Anna Tate and her team have been called in to investigate. They are under growing pressure to solve the murder due to who the victim is related to. With plenty of suspects to choose from, can they pinpoint who killed the young woman and why? Meanwhile Anna is trying to find her daughter Chloe who was abducted by her father ten year ago. Will a new lead bring Chloe back to her?

I really enjoyed this book, it has a great suspenseful storyline. I am looking forward to the next instalment in this series.

Oh my goodness I read this in a day, it’s so good!

Thank you Netgalley for introducing me to this series of books, I will be reading whatever comes out next!

The book is written really well so as to suck you right in and it manages to be high impact without being cheesy.

The underlying storyline about Anna Tate is brilliant and makes these books stand out from the usual police procedural books.

I like the main character and I also feel the other characters are given an good chance to be explored and are built up well.

You will not be able to put this down!

I have loved catching up with DCI Anna Tate as the team are called in when a young woman is found dead on Barnes Common,As Anna and her team are tasked with finding out who the victim is and why was she murdered in this way. Also Anna is still searching for her daughter Chloe, she must as always put her missing daughter to the back of her mind so as to consentrate on the murder.I won't spoil the book for others only to say well worth 5*

This is the second book in the DCI Anna Tate series and it’s a fabulous follow up to the the first. Once more Anna Tate is plunged headlong into the murder of a young woman left on Barnes common and right from the start it’s obvious this is going to a high profile case with lots of media attention. Running parallel with the case is the ongoing story of Anna’s search for her own missing daughter and this adds extra suspense to the book making a real page turner with plenty of twists and surprises making for a thoroughly good read. The character of DCI Anna Tate I particularly like as she is a tough policewoman good at her job and very believable, the storyline of the her anguish in trying to find her abducted daughter is well written and shows a more vulnerable side of her character making her very real.
So an excellent police procedural that is enjoyable from start to finish and I look forward to reading the next in this series and can well recommend both the first in the series and this one if you enjoy a great mystery thriller and my thanks to J P Carter for a great read.
My thanks also to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
