A lovely read. Great characters and plot. Lovely writing style too. It's part of a series and I am really excited to read the rest of it. It gives me vibes of Mr Selfridge - highly recommended!

I loved the this book and all the characters without any exception. Definitely a touch of the "Mr Selfridge" and I felt as if I was transported back to this time. Having worked part timer in a department store in my senior school years, (although it was in the 60's) I could identify with some of the strict rules and regulations the shop girls had to adhere to. Loved the author's description of family life at that time and tackling sensitive matters with compassion. A really lovely wartime saga. Will definitely read the rest of the series.

This book is the second in the series and follows the life of Lily who works in a local department store during the war. It is the story of her life at work and with her family and friends.

I absolutely loved the characters in this book. They were so easy to warm to and there was so much depth to them.
I was a huge fan of the authors writing style. She managed to weave emotion through the pages. There was a storyline of homosexuality - in 1942 this was illegal - she dealt with this so well and in a sensitive manner.
This was the first book in the series that I had read but it was incredibly easy to follow the story.

This is a lovely family wartime saga book. The author shows the reader what life was like for women in wartime England. Can’t wait to catch up with Lily and her family and friends in the next instalment of this series.

The Midlands town of Hinton 1939. Lily Collins work's at Marlows the smartest department store in town. Living at home with her mum the war is well and truly happening. Rationing is hard and so was getting stock at the store. A heartwarming book that i so enjoyed with lots of chances for Lily and her family along the way. This book is so worthy of the stars. I loved every bit of it.

It was lovely to catch up again with Lily and her family and friends. It’s now 1942 and everyone is struggling with their own problems caused by the ongoing war. Beryl gives birth but doesn’t want to just settle into motherhood and thinks up ideas to start her own business from home. Where as Gladys would love nothing better then to settle down like Beryl. Jim is under pressure from his Mum to go back and run the family farm. I recommend reading A store at war and then this book you won’t be disappointed. I look forward to reading more adventures of Lily and Marlow’s in Book three in this great series

Meet Lily Gladys and Beryl again and see how they are coping with the heartaches of war. It's January 1942 and the war and it’s effects are continuing to take their toll on the lives of the inhabitants of the town of Hinton and you feel for them all as they get on with their lives and pray for a future.5*

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I wished I had read the first 2 books in the series and maybe the rating would have been higher. An ok read
