I was so excited to read this as I'm really a bit too over invested in Lottie Parker and co. Great to see a bit of progress on the Boyd front and the case is interesting enough. I have a real issue with the last few chapters though although it's hard to discuss without spoilers. Basically the approach to a parents reactions to their child's trauma doesn't ring true. The whole plot line with Lotties "new" family members is still a bit messy. I like the new team detective though.

My second encounter with Detective Lottie Parker and her sidekick Bryant, another very interesting story line takes one back to a past crime and to the future where that crime catches up with another. Lots of twists and turns to keep you interested but the big question is, will she finally say ‘Yes’?

Book 6 in the Detective Lottie Parker series and what a read! It is full of twists and turns that keep the reader guessing right up to the end. The bodies pile up quickly, with two girls missing from a nightclub found stabbed in a derelict building. While the investigation is ongoing two more girls are found stabbed in a luxury apartment complex.
Lottie Parker is under pressure at home and at work. Her relationship with her children is mirrored by the relationship with her partner Boyd, while at the same time her immediate boss is waiting for her to fail. It is a tense, well-paced read and fans of Patricia Gibney will love it. She has created a memorable and sometimes infuriating character in Lottie Parker although her home town of Ragmullin appears to be as dangerous as Oxford was in the days of Morse!
I would recommend reading the other books in the series first. While the background to the ongoing relationships is explained in Final Betrayal, having read the entire series gives a better understanding of Lottie’s character and those around her.
Can’t wait for book 7.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Final Betrayal, the sixth novel to feature DI Lottie Parker of An Garda Síochaná, Ragmullin.

Ragmullin is unusually quiet but that changes when Councillor White reports his daughter, Amy, missing. She was last seen at a club on Saturday night and it’s now Tuesday. Superintendent McMahon makes it Lottie’s number one priority although it’s not long before Amy and her friend Penny Brogan are found murdered in a derelict cottage. At the same time Lottie’s half brother, Leo Belfield is back in town with bad news.

I thoroughly enjoyed Final Betrayal which is another action packed hunt for a serial killer. The novel moves along at a fast clip, not just from the action but also from the format which switches perspective and introduces a host of characters at a regular, almost frenetic pace. Initially this is quite confusing but as the reader gets used to the characters it becomes interesting and quite compulsive. I found myself looking forward to the different sides of the story and working out where it was all going. I did guess the killer about half way through but had no idea of motive. Not that it spoiled the read in any way as Ms Gibney had a few more twists to insert before the denouement. It becomes a compulsive read.

I like Lottie Parker with her chaotic life and keen investigative instincts but sometimes she can be exasperating as a fictional protagonist because she’s very emotional and finds it hard to keep a level head. It makes her endearingly and believably human but, sometimes I wish she’d think first.

Final Betrayal is another good addition to the series so I have no hesitation in recommending it.

3.5 stars

Final Betrayal is a solid, but not great, addition to the DI Lottie Parker series.

Young women are being killed in pairs in the small town of Ragmullin, Ireland. Lottie Parker and team are on the case. At the same time, Lottie’s newly discovered crazy half-sister has escaped from custody and is out for revenge against Lottie’s family.

What I struggled with : The murder mystery didn’t grip me. In fact, I found it boring. I didn’t pick up on the identity of the killer until I was more than halfway through, so it was nice to put my book detective skills to work. At the same time, I just didn’t care enough to become invested in this storyline and when the reason was revealed about why the murderer was killing these girls, I was in utter disbelief, as it was for a pretty dumb reason. Gibney usually writes her mysteries with more tension and depth.

Another issue I had was there were way too many POVs; In addition to Lottie, Kirby, Katie, and Rose, there are at least 3 more, including the voice of the killer. I was able to keep track of everyone as their voices are distinguished, but I found some of their voices to be superfluous. In the end, I understood why all of the POV’s were included, but it was frustrating reading all of the POV’s. I feel like this story could have been told in a different way.

What worked : Finally, Lottie’s character showed some growth! She has calmed down a bit and is taking baby steps in her relationship with Mark Boyd. She even finds herself being happy, well, until all the murder and mayhem begins! Lottie, her family, and team of detectives are the reason to read this series. I am invested in their lives and rooting for them! I wanted to hug poor Kirby, who is still recovering from the events of the last book.

Even though I didn’t love Final Betrayal, I would still recommend this series for its compelling and lovable characters!

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Bookoutre in exchange for an honest review.

#FinalBetrayal #NetGalley What can I say - I absolutely love this series and the characters of Lottie and Boyd. This is a real roller coaster of a book with so much action I couldn't put the book down! Sometimes, a book can get bogged down in too much detail and not enough action but this certainly cant be said of this book. Lots of twists and turns which keeps you guessing who the culprit is and with the emotional ties to Lottie on two different fronts, it really was a page turner. Again, Lottie leaves poor Boyd hanging at the end and I really felt for him! Hopefully this will be resolved in number 7 of the series. A well deserved 5 stars.

Book 6 in the Lottie Parker series.

I always look forward to these books as you know you are in for a fantastic book full of twists and turns. This one is no different.

I was hooked from the start and I didn't want to put it down.

As this book refers to earlier storylines I would recommend you read them from the start. As they are so good that's no bad thing!

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Final Betrayal’, book six of the Detective Lottie Parker series written by Patricia Gibney, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

After leaving Jomo’s night club Amy Whyte and her friend Penny Brogan are abducted, their bodies found in a derelict house with silver coins nearby. Is it a coincidence that it's happened at the same time Conor Dowling is released from prison after ten years for armed robbery and Amy was a key witness at his trial? The case is given to DI Lottie Parker and DS Mark Boyd to investigate, but when Lottie’s daughters Katie and Chloe also disappear she’s terrified they’ve been taken by the same person.

I’ve read all of the novels in the Detective Lottie Parker series and I can honestly say that ‘Final Betrayal’ is the most thrilling and exciting of them all. The plot was gripping, with astonishing twists and turns, tough characters, and so many suspects that I was unable to stop reading as I had no idea who the killer was. And then there’s Lottie’s complicated family connections with Leo Belfield and Bernie Kelly, and her growing relationship with Boyd. I understand this is the last chance we have to read about Lottie and Boyd but after being left with Boyd’s question unanswered, we need number seven to round it off for us.

I’m on book 4 of the series so will post a review when I read it. All the other books are brilliant so will give 5 stars for now.
Well I am now up to date with the series and I still give this book 5 stars!! It was lovely to catch up again with Lottie and Boyd but as usual she keeps poor old Boyd hanging, bless him. It was a great fast paced story line with the usual rollercoaster ride. Her poor children have experienced so much being related to her but I guess that’s life with a copper. I couldn’t wait to finish it but also didn’t want it to end as now we have to wait for the next instalment. I highly recommend this author and series.

Another fantastic read from an amazing series by a brilliant author. I was so excited when it landed in my inbox. Travelling back to Ragamullin to find out what is happening to Lottie Parker and Boyd. I am glad to say that this is another page turner which had me reading late into the night.
Two young women, Amy Whyte and Penny Brogan leave a night club and are found two days later in a derelict building, they have had their throats cut. Next to the bodies are found some silver coins. As usual Lottie is under pressure from her boss, they do not get on. As the body count begins to rise she needs to find the killer and fast. If that was not enough for Lottie her half sister has escaped from a Mental Asylum and has threatened the lives of Lotties' family. Another page turner which got my heart racing, holding my breath and tapping my kindle like a demented wood pecker. This book is packed with tension and suspense and so many suspects. The ending left me speechless. This author has done it again. An easy five stars and so Highly Recommended. I can't wait to read what Lottie Parker and Boyd get upto next.
I would like to thank the author, Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

The sixth breath-taking novel in the Detective Lottie Parker crime thriller series starts with the murder of two close friends (Amy Whyte and Penny Brogan) who were abducted singly as they left a local nightclub half an hour apart. The chief suspect is Conor Dowling, newly released from custody after serving ten years in gaol, because it was Amy’s testimony, along with one of her other friend’s corroborating evidence, that put Conor behind bars. They testified that they had definitely seen Conor that night. He was in the right place at the right time and this cinched the guilty verdict.
Lottie and her team set to work to try to solve the brutal crime, but soon establish that Conor’s alibi is in this instance irrefutable. Then two more bodies of similarly aged young ladies are discovered and the hunt for the vile murderer escalates. With each body a chilling memento – a silver coin - is left behind. Could this be the perpetrator’s signature or even a message left by the same murderer? Whatever the significance of the trail of silver coins means, there is a serial killer on the loose. When Katie and Chloe, Lottie’s two daughters go missing she is distraught, knowing that there is a strong likelihood that they too will be the next to have their throats cut.
This is the most baffling and worrying case Lottie and her trusty team have had to solve. They are frustrated because they know another killer has escaped custody and this really throws the cat amongst the pigeons, because it was Lottie’s evidence this time that assured a conviction. Could there be two murderers and could they be a team or solitary criminal?
With Lottie’s very life under threat and her two missing daughters still to be found, Lottie needs all of her resilience, clear thinking and bravery to solve the mysterious murders. I really love this series. I have come to know Lottie’s history and that of her dedicated and hard-working team as Patricia Gibney has further developed their characters. It was lovely to catch up with them again. The newcomers to this novel are diverse and interesting. I really had no idea how the storyline would develop or where it would take me. The tension and suspense built up to a harrowing climax with Lottie’s treasured family pursued, captured and imprisoned. I was invested in and addicted to this storyline from the very beginning. There were twists and turns, blind alleys and red herrings one after the other. It was an absolute certain page turner.
I received a complimentary copy of this memoir from publisher Bookouture through my membership of NetGalley. Thank you very much for my copy. These are my own honest opinions without any outside influences. It’s a really well earned 4.5* review from me and a recommendation that this novel is highly recommended for lovers of police procedural crime thrillers.

I was looking forward to this one as it's my favorite genre.
I thought it was humorous when it needed to be and I could see it was going to pan out well. I also rather liked Lottie the central character.
However, I didn't think it worked as a stand alone novel. I'm sorry to say that as it shouldn't detract from the plot but from the very start of the book we hear that one character had been murdered, several others had died etc and I found myself wondering if she was just unlucky.
I assume these refer to incidents in previous books but there were so many characters that I assume we would normally have known that it did all get a bit confusing. I therefore found it hard work in places.
That said, I may well go back and start from the beginning of the series as the writing style was excellent.

Okay, I went into the sixth book of the series with trepidation. I saw "final" in the title and was worried that it was the end. So, let me assure everyone that in the author's note Patricia Gibney does state there will be a book seven. Thank goodness because Lottie as per usual leaves her partner, her best friend, and my fictional soul mate, Detective Mark Boyd, hanging once again. Lottie, after six books, I just want to let you know that I really, really want to throttle you! Boyd, forget about her and take a chance on me. Patricia Gibney, thanks for a frustrating epilogue but tie it up for us in book seven -please!

Now that I have gotten that off my chest, let's talk about the other storylines. Lottie and her team are still reeling from a loss, while adjusting to a new teammate, a crazy boss, the press and budget cuts. The Parkers have moved into their new home, but change is pending for all Lottie's kids. Lottie's biological family continues to carry its share of woes. But most importantly the team has to deal with a killer who likes to take two women at the same time.

One of my absolute favorite series, I never have difficulty finishing any of them and immediately fall under their spell. Looking forward to number seven!

Final Betrayal is the 6th instalment in the Lottie Parker series. Which, I have loved from the very first page.
This story starts again in the Irish town of Ragmullin. Two women (and friends) are found dead with their throats cut and with a metal disk found on their possession. They straight away suspect Conor Dowling, that has been recently released from prison after 10 years. Which he claims he was wrongly convicted, and he is innocent. The two dead women gave statements at his trial that he was at the scene of the crime.
The story also continues the person life of Lottie Parker. Now in her new home, her kids and her mother Rose. The surprise visit from her half-brother Leo, who has taken her half sister out of and Asylum and she has knocked him out and escaped. Not forgetting the close relationship, she has with partner Boyd and trying her best not to show and deny the real feelings she has for him.
The is another great instalment in the Lottie Parker series. With its great storyline, gripping plot and lots of twists and turns. I love the gutsy character of Lottie Parker. She is not the best of cops, but she works hard and gets the job done. The only quibble I have that this part of the series I thought there was a bit too much going at times. So for that I give 4 stars.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy of this book

After the last book in this series I decided that me and Lottie were beyond help as friends. Not that any of that disconnection stops me enjoying reading about her, just she and I just ain't gonna make it!
And, that's OK. But, that aside, I would recommend you do the usual series thing and start from book one and read in order to get a chance to get to know her, and her very dysfunctional and doomed to tragedy family, better.
Family issues aside (and that's a big ask as they are a bit front and centre again) work wise Lottie has her work cut out for her with the investigation of two girls missing after a night out. One of whom has connections to Connor Dowling, a man recently released from prison after serving his time. Could these two facts be related? Especially given as it was one of the girls, Amy's, testimony that was instrumental in getting him convicted in the first place? Then another two girls are found dead. If that wasn't enough for Lottie's very full plate, there's more shenanigans from her half-sister to contend with (and this bit did irk me for reasons I can't spell out here). Can she manage to put aside all her personal stuff (again) and figure out what is going on with the girls, and Connor?
This is probably my least favourite in this series. Yes the crime was gripping and heart-stopping but, I'm afraid, I'm getting a bit tired of Lottie's children getting involved in all of her cases in one way or another. I know it's fiction and not a true reflection of real life but surely they'd have all learned by now... It did mar my enjoyment a tad, and when coupled with the non-explanation of how a certain person gained their freedom (no I can't figure out how in heck either) this book is sadly just the four rather than five stars for me this time. Just not quite the best balance between personal stuff and professional crime fighting for me.
That said, the crime was very well plotted and saved the book by making it a solid read overall. It also means that I am going to stick with the series cos, Lottie's kids aside, it did keep my attention nicely and left me mostly satisfied at the end. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.
