I Was thrilled to read the #6 installment of this series! Another past paced, enthralling, entertaining read. Lottie Parker is one of my favorite characters, she's flawed, she knows it, and she tries harder. Widowed, raising her kids, grandchild, working a crazy time consuming dangerous job, while trying to handle a simmering relationship
She handles what life is thrown at her, and still keeps it real. It is a great police procedural series, and I recommend it to people all the time.

I’m a huge fan of the Lottie Parker series and have been from the very first book. This book, not so much.

Two young women disappear after an evening out. Their bodies are found in an abandoned house with silver coins in their hands. It doesn’t take long for another pair of young women to be found dead. As if Lottie didn’t have her hands full enough with work, her half brother arranges for her half sister to be given a day’s pass from the insane asylum and then manages to lose her. And her new boss cares only for a balanced budget. I can’t say I fully bought into this story, especially the part about her half sister. Since when are folks deemed dangerously insane allowed day passes?

Once again, there were multiple possibilities as to who could be the murderer. Maybe I’m reading too many mysteries, because I was fairly confident in whom I believed was to blame. There’s a lot going on, with the multiple storylines. This is hard to explain, but I felt like Gibney was manufacturing the sense of anxiety. Too much back and forth and it just didn’t feel real to me.

As with every book in this series, a lot of the strength is in the team’s relationships, especially the growing one between Boyd and Lottie.

It's like meeting up with an old friend again,

From the offset we are plunged into the horrific murders of young girls and with so many suspects Lottie and her team are going to need all their expertise and detecting skills to find the culprit and bring them to justice before others lose their lives too.

On a personal level Lottie and the family are at last in their new home but a figure from the past comes back to unsettle and threaten the very lives of her and her family.

Great characterization, especially Lottie as we continue to see her character develop and grow, excellent edge of the seat plot and storyline and its many twists and turns make Final Betrayal a gripping, nail biting,action packed thriller.

Can't wait to meet up with Lottie again- loved this and 5 stars all the way from me.

I would never want to be one of Lottie Parker's family members! Honestly, I believe there is little these kids haven't experienced apart from death. This sixth installment of the series was once again a wild ride, difficult to put down, though the ending was maybe not entirely unexpected. I just like Patricia Gibney's writing and her slightly exaggerated imagination. Not to be missed if you are into this series.

Patricia Gibney has had me hooked on her stories from the very first Lottie Parker book. She portrays a deeply troubled woman who you can’t help but cheer for. She’s determined to take care of her family and do her job no matter what stands in her way. If only she had a little time to dedicate to what makes her feel good at the end of the day.

Final Betrayal was filled with twists and turns and characters that you quickly became invested in. The end was one you didn’t see coming, but made a world of sense once you put together all the little clues.

I can’t wait to see what trouble Lottie manages to get herself into next.

The 6th outing for Lottie Parker and while i did enjoy it I have to say it wasnt my favourite in the series.

Two girls are found murdered in a derelict house, both having their throats slit and a plain silver coin left beside them. Could the killings be connected to recent release of a prisoner who has returned to Ragmullin after spending the last decade in prison?
Lottie and her team are on the case and when two more bodies turn up they are convinced that the ex con is their man. But are there other secrets in Ragmullins past? A web of deception and secrets that could lead eventually to finding the killer.

We also have a side story of Lotties "mad" half sister who is released from care for a day but manages to escape and look to exact revenge on Lottie and her family.

So this was enjoyable overall, it always is spending time with Lottie and her team. The slight misgiving I have is the strength of the story. Lottie and her family again are under threat and it just seems to happen in every book now. The family stuff just seemed a distraction in this book, the half sister story a little fantastical.

Despite these misgivings, this is still a very enjoyable read. Lottie is a fantastic character to spend time with. The series is so strong that nothing short of greatness stands out a mile and theres a bit of that here.

The storyline had twists and turns galore! Heart pounding action had me turning the pages as fast as I could. The description of imagery had me feeling as though I was there. I received an advance review copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

Firstly: This was my first experience with this author. If you're already a fan and/or have read any of her previous books, you will most likely be a fan of this one as well.
For me, coming in on book #6 in a series...I guess I couldn't appreciate it. In general I love mysteries, thrillers, detective stories, but this one was just 'meh" for me. There were waaayyyy too many characters, both new and old, and waaayyy too many dangling threads from former plotlines in earlier books being woven together and frankly it was just too much. I couldn't find a natural flow to the story, and I was just not engaged at all with any of the characters. For the first half of the book I felt completely lost.
The detective/police department as a whole seemed a little bumbling and a lot unprofessional.
Some of the characters were so forgettable that I found myself having to go back a couple of chapters to refresh myself on their place in the story.
The dialogue was mostly awkward and in many places just seemed...unfinished, like it wasn't properly thought out with a point or even a stopping place.
It took me about 10 days to slog through this book, which is about 8 or 9 days longer than usual for me.
It wasn't terrible, and it was pretty well-written, it just wasn't remarkable in my opinion.
I do feel that if I were to have read some of the earlier books I might've had a more favorable and enjoyable experience. This is definitely not a stand-alone book. My advice? Read the other books in the series first before you decide whether or not to try this one.

Final Betrayal – Patricia Gibney

Patricia Gibney goes from strength to strength and the DI Lottie Parker series get better and better. As soon as I finish one I’m anxious to find out when the next one is going to hit the shelves.

After all the bombshells in the previous novel I was so hoping for a smooth transition from her mums to the new house I really wanted it to be the new start that she deserves. When all said and done Lottie and her family have had a pretty tough couple of years. But such is her luck it’s the exact opposite and its not only in her personal life, work isn’t much better with a serial killer on the loose. It’s not all doom and gloom for Lottie there’s her grandson Louis and of course her long suffering partner DS Boyd the budding romance.

Immediately we are taken to an abandoned house, one of many in that area where Lottie two young girls brutally murdered by two young men rather worse for wear, heck of a way to sober up eh? The biggest clue they have is a couple of silver coins, although initially her partner Boyd shrugs them off. To make matters worse her stepbrother Leo Bellfield keeps phoning, she just knows that it’s going to be bad news the worst kind of bad and it is. Then Conor Dowling jailed for aggravated burglary is being released home to his mothers house in Ragmullen and it all just seems too convenient or is it?

I could keep going on with things on her plate but it would spoil it so I’m going to stop and leave some bits for you find out yourself.

If you’ve never read any of Patricia Gibneys work and you like a pretty decent psychological thriller take a punt on either the DI Parker books, you never know you might find a new author to add to your list.

It was good to be back in Ragmullin again. I have followed the series from the beginning with Lottie, Boyd and the team. Boyd is adorable, and I love the way he is portrayed. This time Lottie’s past interferes and jeopardises the present. It’s the familiar guts and gore, gripping and slick mastery I’ve come to expect in this series with humour. It’s a fairly complex plot. I hit a very gripping part and was startled by the telephone. Cold call. Got back to my Kindle which decided to do an update in my absence. How frustrating is that?! I couldn’t help thinking while I was reading that I’ll never understand the stupidity of women who risk roaming the streets after dark – at any age. Such foolishness disturbs me. Don’t they fear attack or are they arrogant enough to think it couldn’t happen to them? Why do the detectives issue the families with false hope and meaningless platitudes that they will find the missing person when there is no guarantee? Thrilled with the cliff-edge ending! That indicates a Book 7. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this absorbing novel.

The Lottie Parker series just gets better and better with each book released and Final Betrayal was just another amazing and gripping read. The town of Ragmullin is one of my favourite settings and I love how vividly Patricia Gibney brings it to life, though I’m not entirely sure it’s a place I’d want to live.

With all of the history surrounding Lottie and these characters, whilst it can be read as a stand-alone I do recommend reading the entire series beforehand, not only are they some of the best crime fiction books out there but also because you will build up a connection with these characters and really become invested in their stories.

I don’t want to to see too much about the plot but what I love about Patricia Gibney is her talent at writing brilliantly twisted mysteries. So much goes on in her books with plot threads going off on tangents before converging at the end into fantastic finales. It’s an expertly and intricately-woven plot that completely had me consumed as I read, it was one of those books I was constantly thinking about when I wasn’t reading it, with ideas of where the plot was going to go in my mind. With Lottie’s personal life once again playing a huge role in the story, there’s a lot going on here and it really was a fantastic read from start to finish. Roll on book seven.

Another fast paced, complex case for Lottie and her team where personal and professional issues collide yet again. Whilst this is a decent read the focus on harm being done to her and her family in every book is becoming tiresome

I enjoy this series - Lottie is a widow struggling to provide security and stability for her family. Great plot, twists and fast paced. Some areas lagged.
Overall, a good read and addition to the series.

My least favourite book so far. The deaths of four young girls so quickly just did not bode well with me . I could not see the purpose . Also bizarre the story of her half sister and brother. It did not make sense that a criminally insane killer was allowed a day pass. I like Lottie as a character but find it unfortunate her children are so exposed to her job. The loss of their father is enough toil for these youngsters. They do not need to be continually involved with death and the hazards of Lottie ‘s job. A book that showed the evil that exists and the hate people have .

This was a decent read and I must say, I love this series. There's something about Lottie Parker that makes you want to know more about her and her life. I don't think she's actually a great detective but she does, in her own bumbling way, solve cases. I love her team, and I am sure that they are responsible for a lot of those solved cases.
This novel starts with the murder of two girls, shortly after two more girls are murdered. Lottie and the team have no idea where to start and the investigation is going nowhere. Eventually clues are uncovered and then Lottie's daughters go missing. This is where the story picks up and things start to happen.
I liked the ending, and can't wait to read the next in the series. Will Lottie finally put her family before her job?

This is an exciting and gripping addition to the Detective Lottie Parker series of books.
During the course of this series you grow to love Lottie and her family and crave insight in to her life both in and out of work
I do feel that the reader needs to read these books in order as Patricia Gibney does refer to past events in Lotties life that will confuse unless you have experienced previous books.
This book really hooks you in from the first page. Lottie lives her life and work on a rollercoaster. Trying for a work life balance she feels that she fails miserably.
Heading a team of very competent detectives in the fictional district of Ragmullin in Ireland Lottie is tasked with finding the killer of a rising number of young ladies.
Interspersed with this is Lotties chaotic home life,complicated love life and even more complicated earlier life and family.
Intrigued? Well I was and boy I was not in the least disappointed
This book takes you through every emotion you can feel whilst reading.
Trust me you will fall in love with Lotyie and her complicated life. You will not want to put this book down. You will also feel bereftwhen you finish it. What can you do next but wait for Patricia’s next instalment of the much loved Detectives exciting life.

Another fantastic book in the Lottie Parker series by Patricia Gibney. Detective Lottie Parker in Final Betrayal, is faced with one of her most challenging cases to date, the double murder of two young girls in their twenties. An old foe, also returns, who is determined to get revenge on her. I really enjoyed this book and I'm sure previous fans of the series will be pleased with this new offering.

Well the fabulous Patricia Gibney has created a sure fire hit here with book six of this amazing series featuring DI Lottie Parker and it’s a belter of a read. Right from page one we are plunged headlong into missing girls, an old case and Lottie’s very disturbing past coming back to haunt her and oh boy it really does this time with Leo Bellfield and the crazy Bernie Kelly on the loose !! Lottie struggles with her old demons and the irritating and decidedly pompous Superintendent McMahon who certainly does not make her life easy and with bodies piling up this is a thrill of a ride from start to finish. Patricia Gibney sure knows how to write a brilliant story and I just can’t fault her books as right from book one the series grips you and now we are are book 6 and the pace hasn’t let up and so I for one can’t wait for book seven. With excellent writing, plot and characters this is a book/series not to be missed and highly recommended with all the stars.
