This is a sweet story of complications, insecurities and past shadows. There is a lot of swear words and very sizzling love scenes.

I enjoyed this one. It's an interesting hockey romance. While I didn't love everything about Trevor and Lauren, he's a bit of a jerk and she's not as strong as I like, as the story goes on and I got to know their backstories they grew on me. Loved little Chloe right from the start though. As a debut book, I thought this new author did a pretty good job. I'll be interested to see how her writing develops. As for this book the plot did have an interesting twist to it which I thought the author did a good job with. Overall I thought this was a very enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

I voluntarily received a copy of this to read for an honest review!

Let me start of by saying this touches you all the way to your heart. Little Chloe is adorable and the whole dynamic between Nate and Colt with her is super special in my opinion. These adults need to get over their drama a bit faster. This was a good read but I felt like it just dragged on in parts. I really felt like Ryan was an unnecessary character. He just brought more drama to an already over dramatic field.

In the bugging I felt like the pages were just filled with nonsense. But then it picked up and you into the nittty gritty and I loved our mains falling in love! I liked that the old mystery of “who done it?” Was solved. I think the greulsome science was uncalled for to a point.i know they had to take care of the “situation” ut it was too much.

Lia Jordan wins with YOU’RE THE ONE, the first book in the Reckoning on Ice series. On the anniversary of Trevor Cole’s sister’s murder, he meets Lauren Moore, who may be the one person to help him heal. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences.

Lia Jordan does a wonderful job with her character development. I like Trevor’s character. The death of his sister Amanda broke him. Top that with a failed marriage. Lauren makes him happy. She brings the best out of him. Lauren is a strong heroine. She is a great single mother to Chloe. She has had a difficult life. I appreciated that she always makes Chloe a priority. Mia Summers is a great friend to Lauren. I like how she looks out for Lauren and Chloe.

My biggest issue in this story is that Trevor played center and then switches to goalie after his divorce. That is not very realistic. Goalie is a very specialized position that players performed for most of their careers. If it was high school and a player wanted to play out, I would say sure, it could happen. It just doesn’t seem feasible for this timeframe at the NHL level.

I enjoyed Lia Jordan’s writing style. The plot was skillfully executed. She did an amazing job of intertwining all the details of the story together. Everything in the story is relevant. I’m looking forward to continuing following this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

3.5 Stars
You're the One by Lia Jordan is book One in the Reckoning on Ice Series. This is the story of Trevor and Lauren.
Lauren is a single mother of daughter Chloe who is fighting to keep themselves going. Burnt on a bad relationship before, so she isn't looking for one now. Trevor is a famous Hockey player whose sister was killed, which of course has impacted him. Now he is a careless man whore in it for the quick shot and out with the women. But he does hope for something to wake him up from his anger and grief. Then he happens to look up to see Lauren who sparks something in him. But Lauren isn't jumping through his hoops just yet...he has to work for it.
Overall a good read.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me - I didn't find either Trevor or Lauren engaging and felt like the book was focusing more on Trevor's relationship with Lauren's daughter. I gave up at 40%, I did go on to read the big reveal and epilogue, which I felt was predictable.

I just didn't care enough to keep reading which is a shame as the foundations are there for what could have been a really good story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Here you have a little bit of information about myself that you haven’t requested: I hate roller coasters. I’m incapable of stomaching the constant ups and downs of that invention from Hell. With this book I have had the same feeling. One moment it was there, going strong for a 5-star review and suddenly it starts falling witthout any hope of getting up again.

In this book we follow Trevor, a famous hockey player who is nurturing a void in his heart since the death of his sister. And Lauren, a single mother going through a tough period where bills are getting too big for her income. The hand of Fate made the path of both of them to cross with an irregular first impression, but Trevor took up the quest of sliding a puck through Lauren’s goal and there is nothing stopping him… (I have no clue about hockey; so, sorry if my attempt of poetry was absurd)

I must admit that the first 60% or 70% of the book is very enjoyable. I was absolutely in love with the dance between the main characters. You can tell that Trevor is not used at all to deal with feelings deeper than a quicky in the back of a bar, so his extravgant attempts of courting Lauren are endearing. It was a pretty risky move the author took, because it could totally look like the hockey player was buying Lauren’s affection. I honestly think he is clueless and that is just his sloppy way of trying to show his love. The fact that she resists him every step of the way is a big plus for the well-being of the story. I love this kind of slow dances in Romance novels, where the main characters just take their time to get comfortable with each other before dropping their clothes.

Another detail I love about the book is Trevor’s cutish way of struggling with the demon in his shoulder. You know, the little fella in his head who just wanted to grab Lauren as a caveman and took her to his lair since day one. That little demon he has been listening to for far too long. So it was great to read how he made the effort to mute the demon in his shoulder to start taking advice from the angel in the other one. Always a pleasure for the reader when a bad boy gets smitten by love. His patience, his eagerness to be better, his relationship with Chloe, his constant grin and his fit body should have granted him a position on the book boyfriend list… But everything implodes dramatically.

I was devouring the book. Incapable of putting it down. Everyday after work I just wanted to get home to reunite with Trevot and Lauren. But then… Chapter 32 happens. That chapter is the equivalent of the Order 66 from Star Wars. It must have been some kind of hidden code to change the characters and story drastically. The beloved characters become very fast some of the most hideous ones. Trevor, who was perfectly charming until then, becomes a cold, mean, cruel, possessive, annoying guy who has no business in the story. Lauren’s behaviour also takes a turn for the worst seeking some really unhealthy exchanges with his so-called lover. It gets so bad, that the happy ending we get is pure smoke. I can’t believe in that couple any longer. I have the feeling they are jus pretending…

After that chapter, there are many details that unnerve me and made the reading a very unpleasant moment of my day. After that milestone, the book becomes something ugly with many dramas pretty bad handled. I couldn’t see any good way to end the torture; so, when everything is solved almost effortless, I couldn’t get along with it. The sex scenes are also affected by the before mentioned change in the storytelling. During the first chapters, the slow cooked meal was the perfect setting for really interesting and hot encounters. But after that infamous chapter… Plain horrible to read.

I have yet to decide if I will read the following books. Colt and Nathan are cool characters, but so was Trevor. Oh, well. I believe in second chances, so I guess I will take a look at them to test the waters.

Rarely do I find that I don’t particularly enjoy a book published by Tule Publishers but it does happen occasionally. This is the case for You're the One by Lia Jordan. The story is clearly written with insight into the characters. The problem is not with the style of writing either. The dual POV is okay.

My problem lies completely with the main characters. Trevor, I just didn’t like him. I guess as a hockey player, he is okay. As a love interest for someone I like, not so much. Lauren is not a character that I could identify with, though I can’t say I like her or not. Both seem to be using the other. This book was about hooking up for the adults. The relationship building was more between Lauren’s child and Trevor. This might be the perfect book for other readers just not for me.

Lia Jordan is a new author to me but after reading You’re the One that’s about to change because I really enjoyed this sports romance and I can’t wait to see where she takes us with the next book in the series. This book is the perfect start for Reckoning on Ice a new hockey series with a twist this story centers around a hot hockey player and a single mum who’s main priority is her daughter she has no time for romance especially with a hot hockey player she was burnt by one before not going to happen again or will Trevor wear her down..... once again we get another star performance from the little girl who this story revolves around Princess Chloe and her Prince Trevor stole a piece of my heart in this sweet heartwarming romance. I’m so excited to see what’s next in this series and hopefully check out other work from this talented author.

I'm struggling on this one. I'd rate it a 1.5-2 out of 5 and, sadly, here's why:

* The writing. Yowza. The author clearly wanted to make this deep and meaningful. Even mimicking the dual POV, one sentence stanzas that look like

I had the perfect woman.
With the perfect hair.
WIth the perfect teeth.
With a perfect smile.
Everything about her is flawless.

but it all seemed like playacting and didn't translate as real.

* The story. Hoo boy. Yes, I did see the mystery twist that was coming and it was corny to me.
* The characters. I didn't fall for Lauren or Trevor. And unlike other books that take a pause (view spoiler)

I actually abandoned this read from NetGalley to read something else, despite my love for hockey romances. But there was hardly any hockey to make me swoon. Although, yes, the author tried to throw in a lot of heat in her very long-winded story, but it was just kind of dumb and frustrating to read (so long, why did this book have to be so long?).

It's my 1st from Lia Jordan and my 1st in this series. Even though some of the side characters seem ok (only Nate & Mia), I don't plan on picking up anything else from Jordan.

This is my first book by Lia Jordan.

What I liked:
The writing style
Dual POVs
Part of a series: Reckoning on Ice
Standalone
HEA
Epilogue

I had a hard time staying interested in this book.

This was an okay book.
To be honest, I think it could do with a really good edit. I felt like it was all over the place. There was a heap of awkward language and phrasing and towards the end, things get really messy and end up contradicting themselves.
Trevor is an okay character. Basically your typical hockey man Whore.
Lauren is your typical single mum.
I did like Colt, Nathan and Mia but they’re confusing as to where their stories will go, because it’s obvious there will be books for them.
My main issue is from where Scott comes into the book. The first issue with him was solved too easily, especially given all the fuss he made in the first place.
Then after his storyline ended, it didn’t make sense what Lauren’s reaction was. She then turns around after a few chapters and contradicts what she says earlier.
All in all, this isn’t a great book and I would give it a miss, sorry.

This is an amazing book. You have to read it! It is sinfully delightful better than chocolate!
It was the goal that changed both Trevor and Lauren's life!

I'm a huge lover of sports romances and a long time hockey fan so reading You're the One (Reckoning on Ice #1) by Lia Jordan was a no brainer for me. I didn't like Trevor's attitude at first but he gradually one me over. I thought the story line (alpha male/single mom) and characters were excellent. My only criticism would be that the book ran a bit long. Other than that its a definite 4 star book.

Do you like over the top alpha males? Do you like obsessive insta love? Do you like multiple tropes in one story? Then this book is for you.

I, on the other hand, realized this was not the book for me. I was enjoying the beginning, but too many connections and dramatic events happened, which made the story beyond unrealistic. I lost interest, and found it hard to finish. Also, the borderline unhealthy relationship did not do it for me. I'm all about flawed characters finding their happy endings, but this was really uncomfortable at times. I can't really go into detail without spoilers, but let's just say it kind of felt like way too many tropes/cliches packed into one story, even if I liked the tropes/cliches.

I read hundreds of books a year, and it's not often that one has me sneaking peeks under my desk at work. You're the One is the tale of single mom Lauren and hockey star Trevor Cole. Lauren is struggling financially and gets a chance to try to score a goal on Trevor. If she scores, she receives $5,000. Due to inappropriate overheard comments, Trevor ends up having to track Lauren down to make everything right. What this hot playboy doesn't expect, however, is to get hooked on her.

This book is steamy, full of drama, and has a happily ever after ending.

This is a love at first sight romance. Trevor falls instantly for Lauren but she has been hurt in the past and isn't so easy to let anyone in. Trevor tries to show Lauren how much he likes her by providing for her but she is holding in a secret that could hurt theIr relationship. Their past come crashing together and major things are going on. This where I had to keep reading to figure out the connection and how it was going to end. The ending was sweet and I loved the proposal scene.

Trevor just loves to keep his woman on her toes, "...I turn the heat on, activating the heated seat on her side. It works immediately because Lauren looks underneath her luscious *** and then looks at me. “It’s heated seats, babe, and this—” Trevor tends to make some valid points, “Lauren, baby, I’m your man, it’s my God given right to ogle you.” I liked this book, I liked Trevor.

So sorry that I had high hopes for this book that just got dashed and ruined. Really thought it was right up my alley but man, did this book piss me off. It was so misogynistic and unbearable to read especially certain parts that annoyed the feminist in me. That cover art really drew me in and I thought I was gonna get another sizzling hot sports romance but was I disappointed ☹️

I love this genre. Absolutely and I read way too much of it. The prologue was amazing, I loved it.

But the rest was awful.

He was soooo unlikeable, and the attempt to correct this was so haphazard. She was a dreadful person, in a matter of weeks she has her child calling some stranger daddy. Disgraceful. And he may not have wanted a child but she knew he was a famous hockey player how moronic to expect that she didn’t follow his career and how convenient that he ends up as her new boyfriends team mate. Yep! As for the rest of the conincidence yeah right.

It’s so bad it’s kind of insulting
