This is a wonderful ending to the Trilogy.

Another great story with complex characters and great world building.

A superb author who makes for easy reading.

Dragon Throne by Ava Richardson is the third book in the Alveria Dragon Akademy series. Kaelan and Lasaro continue to work together (even as they know they cannot be together) to sSave the school and the kingdom. Many are against them including parents, teachers, students pretty much everybody even themselves.

I have read and enjoyed books by Ava Richardson in the past, so I was more than willing to read this book. Realized I had not read the books in the series but figured I could survive. I am going to be honest; I did not finish this book. The reason I did not finish is because I figured the ending in the first two chapters. The solution was way too easy to the main problem. I read the last three-ish chapters and I was right. After that I had no desire to read the book. Even so the five chapters I read had good flow, the characters had personality, there were intriguing components (the tapestries and oaths), and the world was built. Well this was a DNF this was all in my head in needing a little bit more of a challenge and not being in the right head space. I also would have been more committed if I had read the first two books.

Final verdict is 2.5 stars rounded up to 3. I could tell it was well written, but it was an obvious solution so I couldn’t read it. Since I willfully did not put in the effort I cannot give it less than 3 because I maybe recommend it if you have read the other two books. Thank you to NetGalley, Ava Richardson and Relay Publishing for a free copy. This was an honest review.

Whispers of war become a battle cry in this epic series finale. Invasion is imminent. Skirmishes have erupted all across Alveria’s borders, but the lingering effects of the sickness have left the dragon guard weakened. Unprepared for a strike at the heart of the kingdom, difficult alliances must now be made to protect them all. Circumstances at the Akademy are no better. Their only hope to stem the tide of war is to find the long-forgotten Standing Stones and harness its ancient power. It is there that Kaelan and Lasaro’s love will face the greatest test. Circumstances at the Akademy are no better. Kaelan Younger’s attempts to learn more about her renegade father and the Terra dragon fighting for the enemy are complicated by tapestries that refuse to reveal their secrets. And when the queen’s efforts to stop the war involve Prince Lasaro, Kaelan is forced to confront the growing feelings she has for her dragon. And one will make the ultimate sacrifice.
Somehow I didn’t realize this was the third and final book in a series, so I was a bit lost. It was an ok story. I think I would’ve liked it better had I read the other 2 stories.

Yeah, this was a fantastic ending to this series! I really enjoyed it, we learned more about this world and these characters, and there was a really satisfying ending for all the plot threads! It all came together for a really excellent book!

It was really fantastic to read this book right after reading the 2nd, because the details were fresh in my mind. Like my idea on how the situation with the prophecy would resolve. Which I was right on, which was a pretty fantastic feeling!

Mordon kept telling Kaelan that she was a full dragon, though she didn't believe him. But with some pretty important stones, she was more open to the idea. And they also told her more about her father and his history, which turned out to be pretty important!

There were a lot of harrowing moments in this book, from the mysterious attacking dragon to the final confrontation. It all came together and worked out pretty well in the end in a way that was really fantastic to read!

I enjoyed this book so much, it was a great read and I'm glad that I read it!

The Details:

- last book in a trilogy
- not a standalone
- YA Fantasy
- HEA

Sometimes there's more to the truth than we know, as Kaelan Younger and Prince Lasaro will come to learn.
As tensions escalate and the prospect of war draws closer, Kaelan and Lasaro will fight for all they hold dear.

The third book in the Alveria Dragon Akademy trilogy definitely doesn't disappoint.
I have absolutely loved reading this series and discovering the authors work and would dearly, dearly love it if Ava Richardson wrote more books set in this world - maybe about Kaelan's dad, pretty please?

Kaelen relationship with her father was a perplexing one everything about him was shrouded in secrecy and magic, so much so, that everyone around her wanted to bind her up with magical oaths. But she had an independent spirit and a sense for Justice which kept her focus on wanting the truth, although it cost a lot at times. She staunchly refused to accept the status quo that if you went bad there is no good remaining in you, which puts her in a collision course with those whom she loves. Her love for the Prince was a forbidden one but she had no way of escaping it nor did she wanted to. An action-filled adventure with a spice of loving in the mix, making this book an exciting, thrilling and entertaining read, a book of deep conviction and honor.

The Dragon Throne by Ava Richardson, A nice ending. Kaelan has found her Dragon, saved the Akademy and so far prevented a war with little help from anyone. Can she now do what needs to be done, turn away from her heart and figure out what is going on in the kingdom and how to prevent it?

The conclusion to the Alveria Academy series was amazing! It brings together the past and present. Many discovers are made, including the developing war with Unger, which has to do with the past. Kaelan Younger needs to learn and understand her father, Mordon, before the Akademy and Alveria fall and her love and dragon, Prince Lasaro, comes to a horrible fate. She does what she wants, having abilities that she needs more control over. Prince Lasaro wants to save all his people, dragons and humans. He still feels betrayed by Kaelen for keeping secrets about her father, yet cannot stop loving her. Yet, forgiveness is much more challenging to do. Kaelen and Prince Lasaro discover things about the enemy, but the dragons at the Akademy want nothing to do with the human war as they call it, preferring to be in ignorance. When Prince Lasaro's mother makes a decision about the kingdom, it has a huge impact on Prince Lasaro and Kaelen. To save the kingdom they both love, Kaelen will have seek help from her father, who has his own plans and wants Kaelen on the throne. To save Alveria, Kaelen will have to find her inner dragon.

I wanted to enjoy this it sounded so good, but fell short for me. I didn’t feel much for the world the characters lived in as the would building didn’t feel very good, some of it was confusing or not well thought out and it couldn’t hold my interest at all.

I'm a fan of Kaelan Younger.

Yes, she struggles with being accepted by the Akademy and other dragons, Lasaro, her Father and still acts on her instincts, but when I saw that book 3 was available on Netgalley, I had to read it and finish the series.

So...let's just say that of all three, book two has to be my utmost favorite, but you're not here to know about book two. You want to know about this particular book, book three and here's what I'll say; it's an interesting read, great pace and it picks up towards the end. As teens, Kaelan, Lasaro and a host of their friends still struggle with decision making and taking the right course of action. However, it's the adults here that I felt were more indecisive but who wouldn't be with a war looming over their heads?
I loved Kaelan's journey and seeing her come into her own was a thrill and for some reason, I wish I hated Mordon, but do not.

Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.

So when the third book was available from NetGalley, I had to read it and finish the series.

This is not a terrible book, but neither is is great. Its very simple, in the sense that the characters are trying to act mature but most of their logic is teenage logic. Once again all the grownup are like slightly older teens with far too much power. So they are stupid, mean, and stubborn about it.

The world building....feels very small and unimportant. I mean I knew where we were, and what things looked like but that's about it. It lacked atmosphere and felt more like a stage rather than a real place.

There was a big plot hole and yes I'm going to go into it because this is a wrap up of the third and final book. You should not be reading this if you have not read the first two.

Anyway, there is this big deal about dragon oaths. They cannot be broken. Unless you take a potion that kills you but instantly brings you back, with the side effect of not managing the second part. Because dragon oaths are till death kind of deals. And the story hinges on this. Ether her big bad father took the potion to take off all the dragon oaths and was thus able to impregnate her human mother (something he'd under oath not to do) or he does not and that's how he's still bonded to his trainer....but then how did he manage to have a daughter? Because he's still bonded to his trainer who's sucking the power out of him all these years. This makes no sense. One of these big things cannot happen. Its one or the other, both can't exist at the same time!

The solution to the prophesy was obvious the moment we heard about it. You just get married. The end. But they spent more than one book going on and on about how 'impossible' it is. And then what exactly happened to change this impossible thing, to a possible? um...she's a really, really powerful dragon, so its good for the kingdom and this will make her dad happy? ...yeah. But all he had to do was just grow a pair and make that choice. He just had to say this is going to happen and stand up to his mom. Do you see how silly this is? BUT we didn't even get that in a scene, just a summery. We never got to see him FINALLY stand up about this choice. We never saw his mom ague against it.

I felt no emotion reading this book, except for the bits about her standing up to her dad, and that's just cause I'm a softy for big bad evil dragons loving their daughters. Its sweet, even if the reason he turned bad was childish. Well, the betrayal was real but only someone with the logic and emotional maturity of a teen would then turn into the biggest bad. I don't stand behind things being so simple just because its written for YA. Aim higher please.

Over all it was an ok read because I wanted to wrap it up. I knew there would be no surprises and there weren't any. The characters loved their country so much...which was just so robotic to my mind. They were earnest and noble and would do quite a lot of dramatic things for honor... yeah ok, I'd have probably just found a less dramatic way to go about it. I get having principles but your actions are usually based on knowledge and belief, rather than feelings. And this books was all feelings the characters felt, but which failed to resonate with me.

I received a free copy of THE DRAGON THRONE (Book 3 of Alveria Dragon Akademy) by Ava Richardson from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This appears to conclude the Alveria Dragon Akademy series. The dragons of Alveria are still recovering from the dragon sickness of the last book. Kaelan Younger, who saved them all, only had brief respite from the hatefulness and the bullying. It’s back. As it becomes increasingly clear that their neighboring kingdom of Unger cannot be dissuaded from full-scale invasion, the Akademy counsel goes into full denial, and the queen makes a last attempt to form diplomatic ties by promising to marry two of her three surviving children to relatives of the Ungarian king. Meanwhile, a rogue dragon is terrorizing the countryside, the capital city, and the palace. The populace is in rebellion, and Kaelan’s father is up to his old tricks.

I was happy to get a chance to read this ARC. I enjoyed the story although I thought it was a little rushed toward the end. The war with Unger and the aftermath was basically a summary. Though they discovered the cause of the unhatched dragon eggs, there was no progress made in rescuing the sad little creatures. Still, I enjoyed the series and this book. I recommend it!
