Cliff’s Edge was a total surprise for me. I did know that Meg Tilly is a writer, I had seen her first book of this series in NetGalley, but I do not know why I thought she writes psychological thriller.

Anyway, for me this story is in Hallmark movie style – here is instalove, family drama, secrets, stalker, misunderstandings, private jets, island, a bakery, hot men is kitchen, wild haired artist, life and death situation and HEA ending.

Surprising, typical, but very good read.

I enjoyed this book, it was engaging and entertaining.
I loved the well written cast of characters, the plot, and the descriptions of the island that make me crave to be there.
The mystery part was good, no plot hole, and it kept me hooked till the end.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.

This is a romance and suspense mystery, the second in a series on Solace Island from Meg Tilly. It is a engaging and lovely read, despite me not having read the first book. What I particularly enjoyed about it were the characters and the beautiful and arresting location of Solace Island in the Pacific Northwest. Eve and Maggie are two sisters, close to each other, who run the Intrepid Cafe and Bakery. It is Maggie that is the talented cook, whilst Eve helps in the cafe and runs it in terms of finance and administration. Eve's real passion is her art, a field that she is visibly struggling to make her mark in, the only sales she has made is within her circle of family and friends. Her romantic life has been an arid desert for some time, she had a relationship with a musician, Levi, but he was into the rock star life of a stream of women, no commitment, and denigrated her artistic ambitions, all of which has made her wary of getting involved with any other man.

Thoroughly envious of her sister Maggie's fortune in finding and marrying a man, Luke, who she loves, Eve finds herself house sitting for them whilst they go on a well deserved holiday. Rhys Thomas is a famous actor and friend of Luke. He is looking for a place to rest and recuperate after finishing a film, his home is having work done on it. Luke offers his home, but without telling Eve, and Rhys accepts. Rhys is at the point in his life that the novelty of so many women throwing themselves at him has worn off, the one night stands and short relationships are no longer what he wants. After getting over the initial shock of finding that they are going to be sharing a house, Rhys and Eve find themselves attracted to each other, but will it develop into anything more meaningful? Their developing relationship is lent a deadly edge as lurking in the background is a dangerous man stalking Eve.

Meg Tilly writes a suspenseful and tense romance with characters that will appeal to many readers looking for escapist and feel good reading fare. The location provides the perfect background for the novel, and the cafe environment provides the atmosphere of a small community where most people know each other. An entertaining read for those looking for romance with elements of thrilling suspense. Many thanks to Little, Brown for an ARC.
