She can't shake the unnerving feeling that she is being stalked by a mysterious shadowy figure and that her three room mates Amber,Regan and Phoenix are keeping secrets from her.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience

This is a great read and a well-detailed plot that kept me engaged from the very start. I really liked the well-thought-out characters and found them to be believable. I cannot wait to read what the author publishes next.

This book is based on roommates (no kidding!) that are in university. All have their own story, and backgrounds. One of them goes missing and they try to find her. Each chapter is from another perspective, which is seriously confusing and I was lost most of the time.

I struggled to finish this!

Thank you net galley and harpercollins for the opportunity to read this book.

The roommate was fantastic! I could not put it down, desperate to know what happened next.
The story follows 4 girls who are starting university, each has something they aren't telling the rest until one needs their help.

Really enjoyed this book and found it gripping. I couldn't wait to find out what had happened to Amber and if everything would be pieced together. Definitely looking forward to reading more from the author!

A dark and twisty thriller. Appeals to the fear of nightmare neighbours in all of us, with the added vulnerability of a grieving student. Very good.

The blurb for this book sounded brilliant, but unfortunately this book fell flat for me. I skimmed through it but found it quite dull .

This book follows the lives of a group of fresh first year university students, all of which have huge backstory secrets. Which, In it’s own right, seems a little unbelievable.

Each POV was difficult to tell apart from the next and I found it difficult to stop my mind from wondering. The search for one of them felt a little half hearted and I didn’t feel any connections to the characters.

Unfortunately, didn’t enjoy this one.

Four girls + one boy are allocated a flat when they start university. None of them know each other and then one disappears. They eventually try to find the missing one. Loved the cover and description, but it was a letdown and ultimately disappointing. A very slow burner which just fizzled out and sadly there wasn’t any part of it I found enjoyable. The fact that they all had problems and backstories such as theirs seemed a bit far fetched. None of them were likeable, just irritating and I struggled to finish this book. Perhaps it’s more suited to the Young Adult market?

There was a good idea but sadly it did not work well in this book.

The main problem for me is that it read more like a YA book for teenagers rather than an adult novel. It was very bitty and scattered.

The three main characters each took it in turns to narrate the story. Each of the characters had an interesting back story, however, there was never really enough time to get to know this back story and so none of the characters really felt totally developed. Which is a shame as each could have been brilliant!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

The Roomates by Rachel Sargeant
I rate this book 2.5 stars
Do you really know the people you live with?
THEY LIVE IN YOUR HOUSE
YOU SHARE EVERYTHING
BUT DO YOU TRUST THEM?

I really struggled to get into this book, and didnt relate to any of the characters. It did pick up pace eventually but ld lost interest.
Thanks to Netgalley and the author and publisher for the chance to read it

I've attempted this a few times. Each time struggling to get past a few chapters. Safe to say I had low expectations when I picked it up for one last attempt.
I kept finding my mind wandering at times. Just not really caring. Towards the end I was skipping small parts just to get it finished.
The characters were just unlikable for me. Which made it harder to care what was happening.
Honestly this is a pretty forgettable book.

I was a little bit underwhelmed by this one. I did enjoy it I just felt that the storyline lacked any meatiness and was a little bit bland in parts.

I was so drawn to the description of this book (as well as the cover) but it absolutely wasn't what I expected at all.

Slow to get started, and boasting an impressive cast of characters to follow, I felt this book didn't get into its groove until around the halfway mark.

After that, however, it became full of twists and turns. I couldn't put it down waiting to see what happened.

The ending was mostly neat, if reasonably unrealistic? A mostly satisfying, twisty little thriller to keep your interests piqued for an afternoon.

Thanks to HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely gripping. This book has it all - innovative setting, suspenseful prose and a storyline to die for. The university setting done it for me. After all who could resist a trip down memory lane? But this novel comes with a twist... well more than one actually. It is mainly the story of Imogen, trying to move on from the mysterious disappearance of her sister, Sarah. University is her next step, but then roommate Amber disappears. The story gathers momentum from this point as we begin to wonder whether the disappearance of both girls are connected. The so-called best days of your life are anything but for Imogen as events take a dark turn. Then there are the questions... Are Imogen's roommates the average, indistinguishable cohort of students they purport to be, or is their close proximity to Imogen anything but fortuitous? These are the threads of a plot that will keep you guessing, but more importantly... reading, and reading. I finished this page-turner in one sitting, completely ensconced in the world of Imogen and her 'friends', and the meticulous, suspenseful plotting of Rachel Sargeant. Like the pro that she is, Sargeant ratchets up the tension to an unbearable level until the stunning, final denouement. I loved ever page of this top-notch thriller.

This was a dark and creepy read, seriously good thriller with lots times where you hold your breath, perfect for me! Loved it. How well do you know the people you live with?? Not very well so it seems haha!

Great characters and fast paced, a real page turner that was full of twists, just as you think you’ve got it, you haven’t.

Brilliantly written, fab book!!!
