This was a strange one. I expect my thrillers to be... well, thrilling. The twists and turns were obvious to me and I ended up finishing the book without feeling shocked or surprised by anything. I could see what was coming a mile off and felt disappointed by this.
HOWEVER, I thought the writing was good, the setting was good and the idea and plot twists were interesting and unique - I’ve not read a thriller centered around university students and their problems and friendships etc written so well and the characters so believable. Before I got a third of the way through this I actually purchased the author’s other books as well. Hopefully they’ll be a little bit more exciting than this one. But it wasn’t s total waste of time.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was quite excited to read this book but I didn't realise that it was written in third person! I think this style can be great for some readers but unfortunately for me, and for reading a thriller, this type of perspective just drew me out of the story. The sentences could have been structured better and it just did not feel fleshed out enough for me.
