Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

Fight Back is definitely a thrilling roller coaster. In this novel Kerry Casey, a gangster, might not be at the top of the Glasgow crime scene much longer.

There are enemies everywhere and she is trying her very best to stay on top. However, when they strike she has to fight back. This book grabs you at the beginning and does not let you go until the very end. WOW!

The second instalment of the gritty gangland family the Caseys. Kerry must defend her family and businesses from the Columbian drug lords that want to take over her manor. Will she ever be able to make her family business legit and legal?

Many thanks to the publishers and netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

A fast paced gritty read that follows the adventures of Kerry Casey and her army as they defend their empire in Glasgow and the Costas. Full of action played out by a vast array of characters, this book will leave you exhausted! Great read.

What a brilliant second book in the Kerry Casey series!
With more edge of your seat action than your average book, this is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing who will come out on top, and who will survive!
This is turning out to be an excellent series, my only complaint is having to wait so long for the next instalment

Fight Back is the 2nd book in the Kerry Casey gangster series, following on from the first book Kerry finds herself up against the Columbian drug traffickers in Spain and In Glasgow as well as all her other business interests and enemies. And her on/off relationship with her policeman lover also comes to the boil.In my opinion this is not as good a series as Anna Smith's Rosie Gilmour books but it is ok and no doubt there are quite a few more books to follow in the series.A good 3 star read.

I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t have given the book cover of Fight Back by Anna Smith a second glance. It does nothing for me. But the gangland Glasgow setting caught my attention, so I decided to jump straight in to book 2 of this series. Great decision, as WOW I flat-out loved this book.

Thanks to Quercus Publishing for giving me for giving me a copy of this book for review consideration. As always, no matter what the source of the book, you get my honest, unbiased opinion.

You don’t need to have read Blood Feud (book 1) to dive into this series, as it recaps events nicely. However I am definitely going to go back and read it, as I’d like more time with these characters. Plus I want to fully understand and appreciate what happened in the past.

3 THINGS I LOVED

Kerry is such a fantastic character. She heads up the Casey gang and never disassociates herself from the violence and criminal roots of her family background. Which has now made her an unwilling leader. However she wants to turn straight, and run legitimate businesses. She reminds me of Jax in Sons of Anarchy, who wanted the same, but just sank deeper and deeper in to corruption.

My anxiety levels went through the roof while reading. It’s full of action, but also full of emotion as I cared about the characters. By page 10, my nerves were already shot.

When I say it gripped me, it really, really did. I decided sleep had to take second place to finishing the book. It was either that or stay awake all night worrying about the characters.

I'm delighted to have found a new author to follow, and when the next book comes out in this series, I'll be snapping it up.

WHO SHOULD READ FIGHT BACK BY ANNA SMITH

If you are a fan of tv shows like Sons of Anarchy or Peaky Blinders, then I highly recommend this series to you. Or if you like fast-paced, dark books with great characters, and a high danger element. Fans of Marina Cole, Liz Nugent or Jo Spain should also enjoy.

Wow book two in the Casey series and it was definitely worth the wait. Kerry is trying hard to turn her family business legitimate but others have different ideas and it’s not as easy as she thinks. I was drawn back into the fights and feuds from page one. A tough gritty gangland thriller and I can’t wait for book three.

This is book 2 in the Kerry Casey series but can be read as a stand alone. Set in Glasgow and the Costas, Kerry is now the head of a criminal organisation. Her empire is under threat from a Colombian drug overlord who will stop at nothing to take control of Kerry's empire. This is fast paced with so much going on that my head was spinning and I didn't want to put the book down. plenty action with gangsters, drugs and murder. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC. reviews on Amazon, Goodreads and Facebook.

Kerry Casey #2

Kerry Casey is now a fully fledged gangland boss. With her business partner Sharon and her wily lawyer Marty at her side, she is busy ridding her organisation of the drug dealing, people trafficking scum her brother Mickey got them involved with. Her dream is to make the Casey's straight. Her plan to turn her organisation around hinges on building a property empire in Spain. But Kerry as some deadly rivals, in Glasgow, the Costa del Sol and even further afield. They won't rest until the Casey's are destroyed.

I have broken my own rule, I have not read the first book in the series. The book is set between Glasgow and the Costa del Sol. Kerry is head of the organisation. She along with her friend Sharon are determined to make the business legitimate. They are both strong characters. Kerry has businesses in Glasgow and the Costa del sol. Sharon is overseeing the business in this Costa deal Sol. Kerry's businesses are being destroyed and her men are being slaughtered, and Kerry soon finds herself fighting a ruthless Colombian. There is a lot going on in this book. I'm sure I've missed out some useful information by not reading the first book in this series.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Quercus Books and the author Anna Smith for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Fight back Is the 2nd book in the Kerry Casey Series. I have not read the first one yet. But I didn’t have to worry as you into the book, you get the picture of some of the things that went on if the first instalment.
Set in Glasgow and the Costas, Kerry is settled in the head of a gangland business that previously her father ran. She is trying to make the criminal business legit with the help of the long-term gang members in Glasgow and her friend Sharon taking charge of the business in the Costas.
But there are a few things standing in her way. Firstly, there is Frankie Martin which the help of a Colombian drug baron Pepe is all out to take over the Casey empire, and he will do anything to get there even kidnapping Kasey lawyers Marty grandson to blackmail Kasey to giving over her empire.
Anna Smith is a new author for me, and I wasn’t disappointed. I loved this. Gangland crime is becoming a favourite genre of mine. This is a gritty, action packed drama, with lots of twists and a great plot. It also had some great characters especially Kerry. I loved her feisty character and her determination.
Thank you NetGalley and Quercus books for a copy of this book.

The second book in the Casey Family series picks up where the first book ended with Kerry Casey now a fully-fledged gangland boss. Kerry's ambition remains to clean up and completely legitimise the Casey family business but there are many enemies around that wish to stop this from happening - at any cost!
Kerry and her business partner Sharon are great characters and I really enjoyed the strong female characters running these criminal organisations and coming up against a whole host of male gangsters who underestimated them to their cost.
I loved, loved, loved this book and found it gripping and explosive with compelling and 'real' characters against the backdrop of Glasgow in all it's glory. I eagerly await the next instalment to see what the future holds for Kerry, Vinnie and Sharon and the others.
A massive 5 stars but would give more if I could - thanks to Netgalley and publishers for the ARC and huge thanks to Anna Smith for another 5 star belter!!

Another fantastically brilliant book by Anna Smith! The story follows on from the sensational first book, Blood feud, Kerry and her men are up against the very savage Colombian cartel who are out to take everything the Casey's have worked all their lives for, this is a story of backstabbing, brutality and kidnapping of an innocent child. I can't wait to see what happens next in this fantastic series. A massive five star read!
