This is short read that includes lots of what are "dad jokes:". lots of limericks and rhymes with plays on words meant for a good chuckle. Some are rather funny and some fall flat in their humor. Overall, I did like it but more as a quick few minutes of entertainment rather than a long term source of reading with a cup of tea. Young reader would love this as they are fun to read with the joke and the rhythmic style.

My thanks to Netgalley and Booksgosocial for the opportunity to review this little book of Rhymes.
Whilst it is somewhat north American orientated I was still able to enjoy most of the rhymes.
During lockdown I have plagued my friend with some of the "awful - in a good way" verses.

Worth 4 stars

*Apologies for my delay in reviewing - thank goodness for #reviewathon!

A solid three stars from me. Note: I follow the Goodreads format (1 star = did not like; 2 stars = it was ok; 3 stars = liked it; 4 stars = really liked it; 5 stars = it was amazing).

Professionally, I am a Crime Analyst working with one of the largest police departments in my state. Oftentimes, the only way to work through the rough stuff is by perfecting one’s ability to laugh at/through/with the macabre.

The best aspect of this book is that there is a limerick for every reader to be delighted by. Overall, this is an enjoyable and entertaining read!

This book is filled with gallows humor, which admittedly, some people might not find funny at all. I am not one of those people. I will admit, there were some rhymes that I did not understand. I read them a couple times with no clue as to what was going on, but that didn't happen often.

I liked the fact that for most of the rhymes, you don't find out what the crime is until the end. It reads just like a normal rhyme until you get to the end, where suddenly the whole thing takes on a different meaning.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A clever and almost exhaustive collection of verse with a criminal tendency or lethal ending. Mostly in a limerick form they will amuse and entertain.
In reading them I feel like a naughty teenager again flexing my humorous.
I have nothing bad to say about this book; helped by the odd comical cartoon and with many smile forcing moments. There are some great examples of wordplay and home runs with final lines hitting the verses out of the park.
Interestingly there are also some rhymes that are more associated with true crimes and infamous characters. I was troubled by the lines about the Ripper and found this more difficult to stomach than some of the corny humour.
Certainly fills a niche area in this approach to crime fiction and throws in a Holmes/Watson story to reflect back on the Lizzie Borden case.
Worth a look and allows you to be a little less formal.

Dixie J. Whitted has struck again with a second collection of verses, limericks, and poems dealing with criminal topics. She also provides a short story that picks up the Sherlock Holmes/Lizzie Borden tale from the first Crime Rhymes collection. So, if you liked the first collection or just feel in the mood for quick crime lines, dig in!

A lovely collection of darkly funny rhymes. Everything from historic crimes to silly absurdities. The illustrations are particularly charming. These were a lot of fun to read aloud during a long car ride and are definitely a dish best shared.

This was a cute little rhyming book. They didn't all flow with the same rhyming scheme, but they were cute.

Cute book. some of the rhymes are quite clever, but others don't seem to keep the rhythm normally found in limericks.

Crime Rhymes II by Dixie J Witted is a silly book of rhymes and limericks. It's not my usual read, but it was a funny way to wait for my daughter to finish at dance class.

Got quite a few chuckles out of me than I thought it would and there are very few misses within this collection. Apparently there's far more limericks with a slightly macabre theme to be written than one would have ever suspected. The humour is dark and twisted, a little bit reminiscent of Gorey if one were to squint.

Would make a nice gift for a fan of mystery and crime books.

With thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

This was a fun read. I enjoyed it this past week. The limericks were somewhat forced, but still entertaining. I'm thinking it might make a fun gag gift for a mystery or true crime lover. It will put a smile on your face and the illustrations were amusing.
