Balanced Blend..
What happens when that phone doesn’t ring. Your friends tell you to forget it, it doesn’t matter. But, what if it does and what of you have to get to the truth. Nicely balanced blend of chick lit with a twist, with emotional high and lows and nicely drawn characters.

A book about being ghosted which many can relate to these days.

Explores topics such as self-discovery, new beginnings and dating.
An easy read and worth buying.

Sarah and Eddie spend the perfect week together then Eddie disappears but why? The book explores different relationships and how they intertwine. Rosie Walsh also accurately portrays the fall out from ghosting.

I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the premise of this book and assumed it would be a nice light hearted chic lit type book. It wasn't. It had a deeper story line than that and I was impressed. I thought I had figured out why Eddie had not been in touch, but I was wrong. That twist floored me slightly! I really enjoyed this book and read it in a day.

This book has also been released under the title of Ghosted. Believe me, however, there are no ghouls or spirits here, with ghosted refering to the urban term for cutting off all communication with someone. This is a captivating story not just of love, but also of secrets, self-discovery and new beginnings. We meet Sarah and Eddie. They only met 6 days before but for both of them it was a classic case of ‘Love at First Sight’! They have to leave each other for pre-organised plans, but Sarah says she will meet Eddie at the airport when he returns from his holiday. For an unknown reason, Eddie isn’t there. Neither is he answering his phone or returning her calls. As the story moves on, we see the heartbreak for Sarah, confused as to what has happened.

The story is told mainly from Sarah’s point of view, with Eddie’s story coming in later in the book. I honestly didn’t see where this book was going initially, even though the author drops little hints in as the story continues. I was so blinded by the upset and confusion Sarah was going through that I failed to see what was going to happen until it actually did! Now, of course you will need to read the book to find out what I’m talking about, but it’s safe to say it was a fabulous turn in the story. It certainly explained everything and tied up all the loose ends perfectly. I loved how I was kept in suspense for parts of the story, leading me to question what was happening and yet for others it was all so easy to read. For me, the first quarter of the book was a little slow starting, but it didn’t take long for it to pick up the pace where I found myself captivated by the story.

The two main characters, Sarah and Eddie were complemented so well with a wonderful array of other characters! I loved Sarah’s friend, Jen and really connected with her storyline. I also shed a few tears over Sarah and her sister, Hannah’s relationship. The author has touched on so many difficult subjects – loss, grief, infertility, mental health to name but a few – but all were written so sensitively that they tugged on my heartstrings at every turn of the page. This was a beautifully written story, with an ending which certainly made me smile. If, like me, you find it a bit of a slow starter, then stick with it as it will definitely be worth it tenfold! Would certainly recommend, and I’ll be looking out for more by this author!

This book took me a little while to get into but once I did it was a really good read. I liked the way it explored how we can meet someone and feel an instant connection, how love doesn't always come before family loyalty. It explores the difficulties of not having a finality to an ending, which always leaves you open to your own interpretation. A good summer read

I really enjoyed this book, the main character has a good story and you want to stick with it to find out about the man she met and why he left. Good light read

It took me a while to read this and I am very cross with myself for leaving it so long! I thought I had the story sussed but it made me gasp with shock so many times as the story changed from the way I thought it would. A beautiful story looking at what you think is the perfect love story, but there are hidden issues and questions throughout. A fabulous read. Thank you for letting me review this book.

If I'm totally honest I don't believe the title of this book sells its story very well (to me at least) however, I put my feelings about this to one side and read 'The Man Who Didn't Call' anyway, and I'm so pleased I did! This book is substantially about family, love, loss, grief, forgiveness and starting-over, and the synopsis also suggests a sense of mystery, which was exactly the reading experience that I had.

Sarah meets the man of her dreams-called Eddie-they spend seven glorious days together, and both fall in love. So, when Eddie leaves for a holiday that was booked a long time ago, and he promises to call from the airport, she has no cause to doubt him, but he doesn’t phone. Eddie appears to have completely disappeared, so what happened?

Rosie Walsh has an admirable writing style: it is seamless, flows well, and is wonderfully expressive. The characterisation is impressive with an unforgettable cast of people that are complex, supportive, and determined. The character-driven plot uses the perfect blend of narrative, letters, and emails, masterfully woven around the lives of friends and families.

This was an exceptionally moving story and the ending was bittersweet. I really hoped that things worked out well for all of the characters, having lived in their pockets throughout their respective journeys. Very highly recommended.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my request, from Pan Macmillan via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

I’ve never read a book by Rosie Walsh before but I loved the ghosted theme of this book blurb. Seems so relevant in todays world, and I’m always fascinated by why someone would just drop out of your life, with no explanation given.

Thanks to Pan Macmillan for giving me for giving me a copy of this book for review consideration. As always, no matter what the source of the book, you get my honest, unbiased opinion.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE MAN WHO DIDN’T CALL BY ROSIE WALSH

I thought this book needed a little time to get going, and I didn’t immediately fall for the romance between the main characters. But slowly my heart opened to them both, and I felt beyond frustrated for Sarah that Eddie entered and left her life so dramatically.

As the backstory is slowly revealed, I thought I knew where the book was headed. But was delighted to be proven wrong. And even though the book was slow at the start, once I got hooked, I couldn’t read fast enough. It absorbed all my attention while I tried to make all the pieces fit together. I needed the truth, I needed all of it, and I needed it ASAP!

“I wondered how it was that you could spend weeks, months—years, even—just chugging on, nothing really changing, and then, in the space of a few hours, the script of your life could be completely rewritten.”

There’s romance, and intrigue, and suspense and I thought all three of these were woven together to create a heart-wrenching unforgettable read. Now I just need to get stuck in to Rosie Walsh’s back catalogue, as she knows how to get you invested into her characters lives and then sweep you away in their story.
WHO SHOULD READ THE MAN WHO DIDN’T CALL BY ROSIE WALSH

I’d recommend this to you if you like emotional plots with likeable characters that snuggle into your heart. Fans of Marian Keyes, Liane Moriarty and Jane Corry should also enjoy.

I enjoyed this book, i wasnt sure about it having lots of hype is normally something that puts me off. However i did enjoy it, it felt like a quick read and yes a few rwists in it which i didn't see coming but a little bit predictable at the end.
Other than that I really enjoyed the writing style and the plot. Will be reading more by this author.

This book was not what I was expecting. This is more than our typical romance read. It has everything a romance should and more. Would definitely recommend it!

A very-easy-to-give 5 star read! I stayed up half the night to finish this book as I was so enthralled by the developments and just had to find out how it ended. A heart-achingly beautiful look at what love is, how each of us copes with grief in different ways and how we learn to reconcile our actions of the past with hope for the future.
I honestly thought I had this sussed but not quite! The revelations had me exclaiming out loud and willing everything to be ok. The letters written to Hedgehog (can't say more than that otherwise I'll spoil the storyline for readers) were so touching.
I fell in love with Sarah and Eddie and felt humbled by their bravery. Yes, I know this is fiction, but it was so wonderfully brought alive by Rosie Walsh that I felt events were actually happening and the characters actually live and breathe. If they do, I am raising a glass to Sarah and Eddie, Hannah and Alex and wishing them the lives they deserve.
This will be a hard book to follow.
Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this marvellous book.

On her annual visit home Sarah meets Eddie and in the most bizarre of circumstances they connect while dealing with a stray sheep called Lucy...what follows is a week of heady romance, the kind that sweeps both of them off their feet and they find themselves wondering how they have only known each other for a few days. Sarah knows that this is something real, and as they say goodbye before Eddie goes on a pre-booked holiday to Spain, Sarah knows that they have fallen in love and will figure out the future when he returns. But that good bye was the last thing she hears from Eddie, he doesn’t call and Sarah is convinced that something bad has happened...
This book blew me away, I absolutely loved it. It made me cry and frustrated me at times that my eyes couldn’t read it any faster as I was so desperate to find out what was going to happen next.
The author very cleverly writes this story in such a way that you think you can see what’s coming. Oh, but you can’t and then you’re hit with the surprise of what happens next.
The storytelling is beautiful, drawing you in, making you engage with the characters. I loved Eddie and Sarah their love, their loss, their pain. It all felt so believable. The relationships they had with their friends and families and the way they supported each other.
This is one of those books that leaves you feeling a little lost in its wake, wishing there was more of the story to read, not quite ready to let go of the characters. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!
My thanks to #NetGalley and #panmacmillan for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review.

Sarah and Eddy spend one week together, but despite all his promises doesn’t call her. She is bewildered and upset by this and refuses to let matters be. From that point on she becomes a bit of a pest, acting more like a woman half her age. In fact neither of the main characters behaved in an adult way! Also there were too many characters who could have quite easily have been omitted - the story didn’t need extra padding. I very much enjoyed the book despite the above niggles and didn’t want to put it down. Lovely descriptions of the Cotswolds and the palpable misery of Eddie and Sarah just oozed from the pages, plus it was beautifully written.

When Sarah and Eddie meet there is instant chemistry-could this be it!
They both have kept some of their past lives secret but when Eddie disappears and does not call, Sarah is sure there is a reason. In spite of her friends telling her to forget him she enters talker mode to track him down.
This is a humorous mystery/romance which is an easy and enjoyable read.
