This is the first book I have read from this author and I'm disappointed in the story.

The River that Flows is a short story and although the storyline was easy to understand the characters needed development. I'm sorry to say I expected a bit more.

I think that this would have been a fantastic short story, but for a few syntax issues, which were a little confusing at times. The sentence structure was at times a little mixed up, as though it had been translated into English from another language, literally as it had appeared, without adjusting the sequence of the words as necessary.
That said, looking beyond this to the story itself, it was an imaginative and enjoyable tale, reminiscent of older stories such as Grimm's Fairy Tales. Once I had adapted my thinking to suit the language I found it quite charming.

This wasn’t for me, sounded good but it was sadly lacking. It was all over the place, the characters held no interest, the plot was confusing and the structure chaotic. Very sadly a no from me.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
