I was nervous about this one. Ps I Love You is Cecelia’s most iconic novel and to go back to that story was a risk. I eventually gave in and bought this when it came out and the NetGalley followed shortly after so whilst I’m reviewing it on here I also have a copy I purchased. There was a lot of hype surrounding this book with many bookstagrammers guaranteeing you would cry. Now I’m quite heartless when it comes to books and have never been moved to tears but I was very close with this one. However, it took a while for me to warm up to it. Holly tried to stay away from the Ps I Love You club helping people to say goodbye to their loved ones in the same way Gerry did but she quickly gets pulled in. Once the other characters stories and goodbyes began I was hooked and it felt like Cecelia was dealing gut punch after gut punch. The ending was brilliant and I’m really pleased this has been done well!

I really enjoyed this. PS I love you is one of my favourite books and I was apprehensive as to how this would follow but my concerns were unfounded. Really lovely to see how Gerry's legacy had lived on and also to see Holly's life moving forwards. Highly recommended.

This is a book I did not realise I was waiting for! I cannot believe it is so long since PS I love you was released! This book was like revisiting old friends. A poigniant insight into life after losing a loved one and the various stages of grief. Holly shares her story on a podcast and soon after becomes embroiled in the lives of others facing death. A real tear jerker.

Another great book by Cecelia Ahern, she hasn't dissappointed. It's lovely to know what has happen to Holly after we left her at the end of the 1st book, and follow her on her next journey. I recommend this book

First, I haven’t ever read P S I Love You which this book is the sequel to and neither have I seen the film. I appreciate it is a sequel, but after reading the blurb for the previous book and also for this book I didn’t feel that there was anything in the book that I couldn’t understand or appreciate as a result of not having read the first one.

Sadly and in all honesty I really didn’t enjoy this story very much. I think possibly all that needed to be said had been said in the previous book and this one seemed a bit superfluous. It did have its touching moments, especially towards the end I thought, but there was nothing heartbreaking in there as the reader doesn’t really have enough time and detail to become too invested in the lives of the various characters from the newly formed PS I Love You club.

The story is told, I assume as in the previous book from the point of view of Holly. I saw Holly as very introspective throughout the story and sometimes found myself getting bored and started to skim read some of her more reflective ruminating.

I think this is a book you will either completely identify with, especially if you have lost someone very close or like me you’ll get to the end and think, well there wasn’t really that much of a story to it.

It wasn’t for me, I didn’t enjoy it and was glad to get to the end, maybe I might have enjoyed it more had I read PS I Love You first.

What a delightful read. Breezed through it in one hit. So wonderful to catch up with Holly and see how life has moved on since Gerry died. Very touching, beautifully written, tender and warm. Thank you for the follow up Cecilia. I didn’t know how much I was looking forward to it, until I read it.

I didnt think I would get into this but I persevered. It's not my usual type of read but I was drawn in by Holly and the book club members. It's very well written and really pulled at the heart strings. Against all her misgivings Holly helped the book club members with their wishes.

Emotional.

Thank you net galley for the copy.

Is it me or does it seem like the latter half of 2019 is the season for sequels we didn’t know we needed. One was The Testament which just joint won the Man Brooker Prize and another is this: Postscript, a follow up to PS I Love You. Yes, you read that right, PS I Love You has a sequel.
If you’ve been hanging around here for a while, you’ll know that I don’t often read ‘women’s fiction’ – only because I’m not that into relationship drama – but despite that, you’ll also know that Cecelia Ahern is one of my automatic reads. So, imagine my excitement when I saw she had a new book coming out and then times that by 100 when I realised it was a sequel to PS I Love You.

It’s been seven years since Holly Kennedy’s husband died – six since she read his final letter, urging Holly to find the courage to forge a new life.
She’s proud of all the ways in which she has grown and evolved. But when a group inspired by Gerry’s letters, calling themselves the PS, I Love You Club, approaches Holly asking for help, she finds herself drawn back into a world that she worked so hard to leave behind.
Reluctantly, Holly begins a relationship with the club, even as their friendship threatens to destroy the peace she believes she has achieved. As each of these people calls upon Holly to help them leave something meaningful behind for their loved ones, Holly will embark on a remarkable journey – one that will challenge her to ask whether embracing the future means betraying the past, and what it means to love someone forever…

I was the first person to wonder why PS I Love You needed a sequel, but I stand corrected, this is a wonderful compliment to the original story and I loved every second of it.

This picks up seven years after Holly received her last letter. She has moved on with her life. Well… Sort of. She’s in a new relationship, she has a new job, she’s pretty content all round, but the fact that she’ll get to join Gerry again one day is always at the back of her mind, which of course means that no matter how well she might appear, she isn’t really settled. Gerry is still very much a part of her life.

While PS I Love You is about grief and moving on, Postscript is about the different forms grief takes, it’s about saying goodbye and how people want to be remembered. With the first book, we only had Holly, how she dealt with losing Gerry and how the letters helped her. This time she gets to witness the letter writing process and learn about how what people want their loved ones to do. It’s heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The scenes with Holly’s family are so warm it helps soften the blow, especially when Cecelia Ahern’s writing makes you fall in love with these characters that you know you aren’t going to make it to the end.

I laughed, I cried, I loved this book.

Postscript was released in September and is out now.

Very rarely can words alone move me to tears. This book did, again and again.
After a slow start I was soon caught up and running alongside Holly as she went about her quests,
This book, like the last, is sad, moving, thoughtful and funny

A lovely follow on from the previous book, I always want to know "what happens after" so this was the answer. I enjoyed this story a lot.

Thanks for allowing me to review this book

I must admit I was a bit dubious when I heard that there was going to be a sequel to the much loved P.S. I love you - a hard act to follow even after the years that had passed but I needn’t have worried - this book is as good as it’s predecessor if not slightly better. I laughed and I cried and then l laughed a little more.

It is now seven years since Gerry died and six years since Holly read his last letter to her. She feels she has moved on and is now working in her sister’s vintage shop where, against her better judgement she has agreed to do a session for a few people and a ‘Podcast’ on grief and Gerry’s letters. What she isn’t prepared for is the effect that doing this will have on her and the life she has carefully built since Gerry’s death.

When she becomes aware of a group of people calling themselves the ‘P.S. I Love You Club’ she decides enough is enough and agrees to meet with them just the once to tell them she doesn’t want involved. Then she meets them and hears their stories. Will spending time with them undo all the good she has done in the last seven years or will it help her take the final steps she needs to move on.

I can not recommend this book enough. So go now and get a copy, clear your diary and get absorbed in the next chapter in Holly’s life - you won’t regret it.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This is the sequel to one of my favourite book ‘PS I love you’ and I was wondering if this would be as good. The answer is yes! The book sends you on a journey with Holly, who we catch up 7 years later after the letters. You laugh, cry and get angry in this book as Holly helps other people. You revisit Holly life with Gerry (Her dead husband) in flashbacks. Celilia Ahern draws you back into Holly’s world and you clearly can see Holly as you read. I am glad the author took her time to write this book as PS I love you was such a great book. Well done, loved it! Thanks to netgalley for letting me review this book.

I was really looking forward to reading the sequel to PS I Love you as I had connected memorably with it. On a positive note it was good to re-meet the characters from that book but where the first book had it’s lighter moments amongst the heartbreak of death, this sequel was unrelenting in its depiction of grief and death. I felt very depressed after finishing this book whereas I had felt when I finished PS I Love You very uplifted..

I have always read books written by Celia Ahern and read PS I love you 15 years ago.... I was honoured to read the sequel and it really touched my heart. A moving story of death paired with happiness and a very strong link to the original book. I loved all the characters and felt moved by their deaths. Very well written and couldn’t put it down! I’m now going to read the original book again as realised there’s so much I’d forgotten

Wowzers! Firstly I must say I haven’t read PS I Love You and in no way did that spoil my enjoyment of this book. I do now want to read it however! I read this in a single evening, a book that I literally could not put down. It’s a wonderful story mixed up of grief, inspiration, hope, sadness and joy. You’ll laugh and cry in equal measures. I adored the character of Holly and really enjoyed the author’s writing style.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It deserves to be the heartwarming sequel to ps I love you. It takes you back on the journey with Holly with love, warmth and heartbreak.

Definitely worth reading especially if you loved the previous book.

I'm always worried when an author writes a sequel that it won't live up to the original, especially when there is a massive time gap, like in this case. I wasn't disappointed with this book though.
It was great to catch up with the characters and find out where their lives had gone all these years later. The book also dealt with grieve very well and showed that when you lose someone whose that close to you, they're always with you and in your thoughts.
It had a great story, a very different idea, which I feel could go further in future books. I feel that Holly Kennedy's story is far from over.

This book is better than I ever imagined! It is difficult to put into words how beautiful, devastating, heartwarming, clever and charming this sequel is.

I think this is one of my all time favourite books and I want everyone to read it! I would recommend 1000 times over just be prepared to ugly cry.

PS I love you was THE novel when it came out. I think all of my friends have read it so I leapt at the chance to read the much anticipated follow up and it really didn’t disappoint. Holly has obviously moved on with her life but when she is a guest on her sisters podcast talking about Gerry she puts into motion a series of events that will change her life and make her relive the time when Gerry died and it makes her question everything she thought she knew. Cecelia Ahern understands grief and writes beautiful and daringly about it. I was in bits at the end of the book and won’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting a moving read.

This is an emotional read but an uplifting one as well. Holly revisits her past when she does a podcast talking about losing her husband, Gerry. She is approached by four people to help them leave letters to their loved ones once they pass. Ginika and Jewell were my favourites. Holly learns by helping others that she has a new perspective on her letters from Gerry. A super read. Just have the tissues at the ready. Thank you to Netgalley an the publishers for letting me review this book.
