Charming and uplifting, A Cornish Cottage by the Sea was a delight.

The story is well-written, the characters are ones you want to get to know, and by the end, you are smiling and cheering for the happy ending. It's perfect!

Everyone loves a quaint story featuring friendship, love, and a small cottage on the coast. This book offers all of that packed into a short little package that makes it easy and fun to read. I loved this book because it was like a warm hug! Just what I needed.

After breaking up with her long term partner Edie decides she needs to live her life and does a sky dive with terrible consequences....a stroke. Trying to put her life back together she goes to stay with her aunt Josie in Cornwall, who is doing up her cottage to sell. Josie has become almost a recluse since the death of her beloved husband and is not sure about her niece's idea of getting involved in the community but goes along with it to help her. Before long both of them are making new friends and becoming part of the village but what will happen when it is time to go back home.....and what about the gorgeous Barney from next door?

A lovely warm feelgood book, great characters and I love the way they make friends and how Barney and Cam in particular make Edie feel that she can do things and is not defined by her stroke and her problems

This is a book that I’ll admit I went into with a bit of presumption on the style and the story, especially after reading and loving The Little Cornish Kitchen last year and seeing the wonderfully light and fun cover. However this book was totally different from what I was expecting, I like that it completely surprised me because I felt drawn in even more to what was happening.

I don’t want to say too much about the certain plot point that caught me off guard because I think other readers really need to have that same experience but what I will say is that I really liked how this story for me became something other than just the fun romance that I thought it was going to be. It was so much more than that, it was about growth, about finding yourself, and about friendship but it also had the fun and flirty element that I was hoping for too.

Edie was a great character, she’s come up against some troubles but she still manages to find the fun in things even though some people would probably flounder. I loved her epic achievements, they made me laugh but also kept me turning the pages desperate to find out how she had got to them.

I loved her unlikely relationship with Cam, it was super sweet to see him open up to someone, and for them both to have someone who is on their level for support. I also liked that her whilst her moving to St Aidan is about having some rest time, she is also there to support her Aunty Jo just as much as the other way around. Jo was a tonic, she really made me smile with her stubbornness and stripy pyjamas, I liked that both her and Edie were pushing each other and achieving things together.

Of course it wouldn’t be the same if there wasn’t a bit of back and forth with a handsome gentleman. Luckily Barney fills that role well, however I’m glad that he is more than just a pretty face. He is the kind of character that again I made some assumptions about that were then blown out the water and I liked that he could Edie made some of those assumptions as well and that we were both surprised. The way he is with Cam and the fact that he always tried to put him first gave him that extra thumbs up for sure.

I’m also glad that even though there is the romantic interest that the story isn’t really just based around that, it’s as much about the other friendships which gives it that unexpected edge. I kind of wish that I was able to go to the classes and barn yard events, they all sounded totally up my street and I love that sense of community that I felt when reading this book.

This book is full of characters that pull on your heartstrings and a story that is emotional but also fun and inspirational. It will be hard not to fall in love with Edie Browne and St Aidan, I know I have.

The book centres around the title character Edie Browne who is recovering from a stroke so moves to Cornwall to spend time with her aunt. The storyline is interesting and you find yourself caring about the characters. I enjoyed Jane Linfoot’s wedding shop stories and this new book definitely lives up to those high standards.

I was sent a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Edie Browne, 32 had everything, and after dumping her boyfriend she decided to jump out of a plane to show herself how independent she has become but after tripping over the champagne bucket things take a turn for the worse. Edie suffers a stroke. To aid her recovery she decides to spend some time in Cornwall with her aunt who has recently been widowed and the journey of recovery begins for both of them.

The characters in this book are brilliant, warm and friendly and you feel like you are part of village life. The descriptions of the landmarks and locations are vibrant and you feel like you are there with them.
Edie is a lovely character, warm friendly and funny and even though the storyline and the romance are predictable from the start, you want Edie to find happiness in St Aidan and not return to Bath as she says she is going too.
With Edie’s help Aunty Jo transforms her cottage and her life too and relationships develop for both of them in the village.
The other key characters in the book are all really good, nice characters that you can relate too.

I really liked everything about this book, it’s a really easy, heartwarming, summer read. There were parts where I laughed and bits where I cried and I’m so glad the outcome was as I predicted for both Edie and Aunty Jo.

I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads.

This is a wonderful story set in Cornwall about a young woman who suffers a stroke. Physically she is fine but there are some blimps with her memory and mind. She is going to live with her Aunt Josie who needs help recovering from the death of her husband. Together with the help of the entire village they heal and grow. The entire story is beautiful and and inspiration. Edie gives the reader insight into what the brain is capable of. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Edie moves in with her aunt after she has a life changing incident that she needs time and space to recover from. Aunt Josie also needs a little help getting Periwinkle Cottage straight.
St Aiden sounds the perfect place for her to get her life back on track. The locals take her to their hearts and she soon finds herself part of the community.
Each chapter celebrates another milestone as she learns to embrace her new life. You fall in love with both the place and the characters, willing Edie on to a full recovery
I always enjoy Jane’s books and loved this one so much. I wanted to stay in Cornwall , enjoying the village community and Edie’s wonderful nature.

I haven't read any books by the author before, I'm new to her. But I can't resist a colourful cover like this and an amazing title that suggests something light and fun and interesting.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I found myself falling for the characters and the setting so much - I love cafes, I love cottages, I love beaches I love the sea, so this was perfect.
I will totally read more by this author.

Se we begin meeting Edie Browne who is grabbing life by jumping out of a plane (This is her first ‘epic achievement’) . From here I was with Edie and warmed straight away to the setting that had me right there with her in every sense ( I was so nervous for her!). Unfortunately I was there for the aftermath too, which doesn’t have the same excitement as poor Edie suddenly takes a hit that will affect her everything.

I’d like to be a bit sketchy about this book if I may because it packs more of a punch that way. I WILL say I’m always a fan of any book that requires someone to climb in a window when they really shouldn’t, or has them randomly saying things that just pop out to the surprise and embarrassment of everyone around. You can guess from this that this bright, hit-you-in-the-face humour was right up my street; the settings were just shockingly fantastic (and inspirational for me as a writer) and the book made me smile and nod along. Her epic achievements, so different from the first, hit me in the gut, and I had to catch my breath at one of them and I also put my hand on my heart at what an exceptionally gorgeous character Edie is. I have to say I’ve a number of Jane Linfoot’s books on my Kindle and I cannot cannot wait to get to them ALL. A newly bookmarked author, and a very memorable and beyond recommended book

Rating: A very gushy 5/5 (jumps up and down clapping!!)

Wow, this is a story I was completely not expecting when I started the book. In all honesty, I was expecting a light-hearted romantic comedy of a woman who needed to reinvent herself. What I was not expecting was the intensity of the emotions that I would experience while reading. This is a book that completely drags you it doesn't let go until you have heard Edie Browne's story!

Not only was it a rollercoaster of emotions I really found myself caring for Edie, but I also wanted her to succeed, for her to get over her struggles, the health scare was not what I thought it would be and it just made the novel so powerful with how much was needed to be overcome. I don't want to give away too much about anything as this is something I really think it's best to experience while reading but this is a completely awe-inspiring captivating story!

My first time reading a book by this author and I wasn’t disappointed.
The story follows Edith Brown to visit her Aunt and recover from her Stroke. Her life couldn’t be more different from a high flying executive to relying on someone everyday to help her regain her life not to mention learning to read again.
I fell in love with the characters, especially Edith, Aunty Jo, Barney and Cam, from the moment I read the first page.
The post effects of a stroke had been well researched and the embarrassment of the symptoms written in a way not to make light of them but to see the humour and hope.
Will definitely be adding Jane Lightfoot to my favourite authors.

I really liked the set up of this book, how we see Edie develop and grow with each new chapter. It was a great little story full of humour and warmth. It's really uplifting and not your run of the mill story, I am so glad I was able to read and enjoy it. I highly recommend for anybody who wants a cozy heartwarming story.
