This book is like a sweet summer day; it’s a gorgeous and adorable love story of a woman named Abby and the narrator who falls in love with this mysterious woman. It’s a quick read and a fun read that will keep you enticed and the ending is quite worth it.

I really had hoped and thought I was going to really enjoy this story. It sounded really good. But what I found was almost 300 pages with not a lot going on. This is the first of three books, and I’m guessing you need to read all three to get the full picture of what’s happening, since I felt like the first book lacked so much development. And the first book finished with a cliffhanger that I suppose leads into the second. However, I’m not sure this book left enough of an impression on me to want to read more of the series.

This book was a cute read. I requested it because I needed something relaxing and non-stressful to read and this delivered.

Something That Could Last is a decent NA romance.
It's nothing to rave about, but I enjoyed it. Would I buy it? No.
Would I read it on KU or from a library? Yes.

A very good read. I loved the story line and the way the story itself flowed. It wasn’t just another cheesy romance novel. It had substance an a few twists and turns.

I waited what seemed like forever, but really wasn't, to read this book. Ashley may be a new author, but in my opinion, she's got it. I can't wait to see what comes next.

This story has it all. The love, the laughs, the drama. I was hooked from the beginning. The story takes place in an area that I am somewhat familiar with, which made it more interesting to me. The characters are wonderful and very likeable. The short time that Abby and Jacob are together was time well spent. They're relationship was fast growing, and I felt like it was meant to be. The secondary characters add well to the story and bring different aspects onto play that I can see more stories branching off from this book. I can't wait to see what's going to happen with Abby and Jacob, or what will develop with many of the other characters. Great read!!

I need to read the next book in this series ASAP!! I don’t just want to read it I need to read it!!

Abby is from a small town and works 2 jobs during the summer to pay for college. She doesn’t have a lot of free time and the little that she has she spends helping her grandmother or with her best friend, Tiff. She needs to focus on her goals. All of that changes when she meets Jacob.

Jacob is a Senators son who takes a vacation with his best friend to get away from it all. He has no interest in anything but white water rafting, rock climbing or hiking until he sees Abby, There is something in her that makes him feel a way he has never felt before.

What happens when Jacob goes back home? Is Abby more than a fling?

The book is well written, switching back and forth between Abby and Jacobs p.o.v. The characters are great and I can’t wait to see how everything plays out.

I thought this was a sweet book, but I didn't realize it would be part of a series until I got to the end! I enjoyed the where the story is moving, but I do wish we had a bit more resolution before the end of the book. This definitely feels like it could be a Hallmark movie (which I love) and I'm interested to see where the story goes next.

Because of archive timing, I had to rush through this book, but I still found it to be a sweet story.

2 bored *

Well, it wasn't a complete waste of my time, but it was close. At 50 % I still didn't understand the point of the story. It's one of these romance novels were nothing except the romance is happening, and I think I've outgrown this phase. I would have probably been into that like 1.5 years ago but those times are over. The lack of excitement just bored the hell out of me. There were also some general issues and errors within the book, that made me roll my eyes a lot.

⇝The story itself feels pointless.
I've already hinted at that above. I literally asked "Oh, so I'm supposed to watch you two fall in love and have sex, with no actual plot whatsoever?" The love story itself is also kind of boring.

⇝"I saw her and I wanted her".
It comes across like a "love at first" sight kind of thing and I am just not in for that. At 11%, after they exchanged like 5 sentences while she was waiting his table, she says this about him, while they are out for drinks:
I have never felt this way about another guy before

And I just thought:

This is not how we act around S/Os. People are trash and you gotta be more careful with your feelings. You may find somebody likeable at first sight. But DO NOT GIVE YOUR HEART AWAY AFTER A COUPLE OF SHOTS AND SOME SLY GRINS.

⇝Drinking and Driving is not okay.
You do not drive after you've had 2 single shots and 1 double. It doesn't actually happen but the matter is still not handled properly. She doesn't drive home because it shows that she drank alcohol, and not because she drank it. See the difference? This is YA, people. Young people are reading this FFS.

⇝A Wolf-Hybrid is not satisfied with a hike once a week.
This was seriously laughable. The main character apparently found a wolf-hybrid puppy 5 years prior to the plot. And that sure as fuck comes as a surprise because she leaves that full-grown wolf along with the impaired grandma for several days. I know for a fact that she wouldn't have made it through the first week with this mindest with most dogs. Especially hybrids like this need a lot of exercise, attention and are very troublesome when left to be bored.

➺What's happening.
Abby is juggling two jobs, a grandma and (surprise) a wolf-hybrid to make ends meed. On one of her jobs, she meets Jacob and Luke, the first of which highly agrees with her out-of-control libido. Long story short: they exchange like 5 sentences and she's got it bad for him.

They spend a lot of time together over the next several days and I can sure see him as the hottie he is supposed to be. (Every allegedly hote book dude is Alexei from Stranger Things Season 3 in my head rn because, damn, he fine). And, NO, I am not sorry. And Billy from Stranger Things is Luke, in case ya'all are wondering. For those fine people among you who've already watched Season 3, but yourself together!!

If you want to read something really light, I suppose you can give this a try. It was not totally terrible, I just increasingly catch myself wanting some more activity going on in my brain while reading.

I really went into this book because of its lovely cover and the description. However, I was disappointed by most of the book.
It started off well, and it ends well. The middle is what let me down. The book could have done without a lot of the recurring circumstances or they could have been dealt with in a better manner. It was just like reading the same thing again and again.
The last 10% of the book is, in comparison, great. It made me want to pick up the next instalment in this series. (Although I must admit to being in two minds about it.)
The only lovable characters are Ethan and Abby's, grandmother. The four characters - Abby, Jacob, Luke and Tiff - are all old enough to be in college, yet they come across as very immature. Then there is constant annoying sex talk (and the sex). I know it is a part of the book, but in this day and age, I doubt any woman, no matter how old, would respect being spoken to/off in this manner. It almost goes on like a very cliched version of 50 shades. But the cliff hanger in the end makes you want to read the next book in the series.
Not much to recommend, though.

I was really unsure about this book.

Things I did like: Beautiful cover! It drew me in and I was looking forward to reading this. The ending - the last quarter of it was much better than the rest of it and set itself up for another book.
Things I didn't like: I wasn't keen on all the music references, I didn't see the point. The book felt over padded and there was so much stuff that could have been removed to make it tighter and read much better. I didn't like the main characters either. I struggled to care at all. And I found the sex scenes a bit uncomfortable and cringey...

This book wasn't for me, but I can see it having a large fan base and I can understand why people would want to read this. It was good for a debut novel and I think the way it picked up at the end means the rest of the series might be much better.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, sexy romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

One of my new favorite books! This author has such a way with words the pages flew by in no time! I can’t wait to see the next work by this author! This was such a joy to read!

Sometimes you just need something that is cute and easy read and this was it. It had some 'bad' moments and some sad moments here and there so it wasn't all that fluffy all the same. But still enough fluffy and cute for me at least. Its Romance at it's finest i would say? though the whole falling in love within 14 days of knowing each other is a bit, on the nose i suppose. But nontheless.

The only small issue expect them being all lovey-dovey right from the beginning was the line that made it awwkard as heck.. about wanting to lick each other's sweat and found it incredible sexy... i don't know about you, but i just find that gross. But oh well. :)

I'll start with the things I DID like about this book. The obvious thing I loved about this book is that gorgeous cover. It is what drew me in. I know, I know...judging books by their covers and all that jazz, but come on...look at it! It is definitely my whole aesthetic. I also really liked all the times music was mentioned in this book and what music was mentioned. I am not sure I have ever seen The Pistol Annies mentioned in a book I have read and that made my little country heart happy as could be. The actual story itself got so much better in the last 15% of the book. It was the most engaged I became into the story if I am honest. Knowing that there is at least one more book at come after this one, it makes sense. Sometimes the first book in a series can take a while to set the scene, story, and tone for the whole series.

However, I did not like the characters in this book at all. I'm pretty certain the only characters I liked were the brother of the main female character and her grandmother. And we barely get any of them in this book. Every other character is so unlikable. Unlikable characters aren't exactly a problem for me. I can do unlikable characters. Humans can be unlikable. I just couldn't figure out how to really care about these guys because I didn't know why I was supposed to and how I was supposed to relate to them. I just don't think it was my cup of tea. Their language and how they talked was hard to read through for me. Also, there are quite a few sex scenes in the book which is to be expected with the nature of the book and usually something I can get behind. They just made me cringe. The language used during the sex scenes is something I keep hoping we can leave behind (and with a lot of books of this nature we have). I'm just over reading about the female anatomy in terms of "slick heat" and "sensitive nub" and the likes.

I can see why people would like this book and I think the ones to come after this have potential. I think Cade's writing style, for the most part, is nice. It was easy to read and there were some good parts. As a debut novel, it's well done and even though it wasn't necessarily my cup of tea, it is a book that I think will find its audience pretty easily and be received very well. I would honestly check out the second book to see how it all comes along. I'd wager she catches a nice stride in the story and I'd love to see a lot of good character development in these guys.

For now, I'm going with a 2.5-star rating going by goodreads definition of the stars. It was okay, for me, teetering on having liked some portions of it.

2.5/5

Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.

Thanks so much for letting me read and review this great book. This is the first time I have read Ashley Cade and I like her writing style. It had a nice flow to it, she kept me interested throughout the book and I would definitely read her again.

Once I read the description of this book, I knew that I wanted to read this book. I loved that this was a book about opposites attracting there one of my favourite types of books.
Abby and Jacob were so adorable, and I absolutely loved them together. There relationship wasn’t a fast burn romance, if it happened it be then I don’t think I would have enjoyed the story as much.
Jacob’s father is a senator and due to that Jacob has had a privileged life. He is attending a top-notch university and one day he and his friend Luke decided to take a mini vacation and to go the mountains in West Virginia. While there he found the last thing that he expected to find.
Abby lives with her grandmother and works at two jobs a Zip line tour guide and a waitress at Rosie’s. So that she can pay off her collage tuition. Which is nothing like Jacob’s life. One night while at work she runs into Jacob.
The fact that this is a duet book from Ashley I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book that she writes.

I don't know why but the story just didn't do for me. It was great at the begining but then it just lost its appeal . Though it has a nice plot and good characters but its not for me I guess.

This was a great Spring read and made me really want to plan a vacation in the country. Abby and Jacob had a really sweet relationship that felt real. I also really enjoyed the secondary characters in this book and would love a story about them. I love a good slow burn and there was no unnecessary angst in this book. I was surprised by the cliffhanger at the end and will definitely be reading the next book!
