Something That Could Last has ALL the feels!!

I love it when a debut author captures my heart with such a dynamic story, and that's exactly what happened when I sat down to read Something That Could Last. It's been a long time since I've read something so tender and so passionate. Ashley Cade's writing was fresh and she knew how to grab the reader early on with her detailed style of writing. I felt like I was right there in the story as she was telling it. Everything was so vivid and clear.

Now, on to the characters. Abby and Jacob were perfect for one another and I love the connection that sparked between the two of them. I wanted to keep reading more and more about them. The secondary characters were just as enjoyable too.

Though the story takes place over a two week span, so much happens between Abby and Jacob. Experiencing their romance reminded me of falling in love back during my college days.

Emotional and gripping...a real page turner. Ashley Cade is an author to put on the radar because she is a brilliant storyteller. If you give Something That Could Last a try, I promise you she's going to move you!!

Something That Could Last is good read. Jacob is from money. He's escaping to West Virginia with his friend (Luke) to enjoy the great outdoors. Even though Jacob is from money, he's a good guy. He's not snobby at all. He's nice and sweet. I really like him. Abby is a sweet down to earth girl. Neither is looking for love when they meet. They have a great connection. This one is a sweet slow burn romance. There story had me hooked from beginning to end. The ending surprised me, I wasn't expecting that type of ending. I was expecting a HEA but instead I got left wanting more. I can't wait to read the next one.

Something That Could Last is the debut novel by Author Ashley Cade.
Let's start with the obvious first, shall we? I love the cover! I love the dreamy- rustic romance vibe it gives off.

Second, I enjoyed Abby and Jacob's story. Was it amazing? hmm..not really.
Something That Could Last has an 'insta-love' vibe but ends up being a slow burn kinda romance that is sweet.

Here's the thing I am a little on the fence about, I felt like the storyline was rehearsed and not very 'organic'...if that makes sense. I admit that I kinda felt myself phasing out in between but overall, I enjoyed it.

Something That Could Last is a delightful debut novel that does end on a cliffhanger.

I was provided with an eARC of this novel in exchange for a fair review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 stars. I enjoyed this fun and steamy contemporary romance. The dual POV was very much appreciated and both Abby and Jacob were great MCs. I am not a huge fan on descriptive sexy-time scenes (do other people REALLY talk and think like that, because if so I am behind the times), so I skimmed over them, but the actual plot in between was well done and kept my attention. I didn’t realize this was the first in a series, and the ending was enough of a cliffhanger that I might check out book 2 in the future. All in all, a quick read that kept me entertained. Can’t fault that!

The cover of this book is gorgeous. That is what initially drew my eye to this. The description sounded like a good plot. And it was for the most part - there was just a little something missing for me. It marked off all of the ear marks for a romance but just didn’t deliver the punchline. It seemed cheesy and cliche for the most part. I think some of it is personal preference. This is a “insta-love” kind of story which aren’t my favorite to read - I should have realized that.

I enjoyed the premise of the book. I just felt like things were too forced and “rehearsed”, if that makes any sense at all. Everything felt really spelled out for the reader.

This was the first book by the author which has tons of potential.

I did enjoy Tiff, her best friend. I felt like she could have her own book. I would definitely want to find out more about Ethan.

Jacob is from a wealthy family and goes to an Ivy League college but he needs a break at some point from all the chaos that comes with being a Senator’s son. He decides to take 2 weeks off during the Summer to a small town with his best friend Luke.

Abby is just a small town girl that’s struggling to put herself through college by working two jobs during the Summer and she’s also helping her grandmother which she’s lived with for years. Losing a father at 10 and a mother to drugs, all she has left is her grandmother.

When Jacob goes on a zip line excursion he sees Abby which works there. It is an instant attraction. Soon these two realize they are from two totally different worlds and Abby is hesitant and thinks she’s not good enough for this Ivy League guy. Jacob on the other hand is enamored with this strong girl with such a big heart.

Something That Could Last is a sweet and steamy read. This is my first read by Ashley Cade and definitely not my last. I loved Jacob and Abby although they come from two separate worlds they both have strong characters. I fell fast and hard for these two and although it ends on a cliffhanger, which I usually hate, it leaves me wanting more! I’m looking forward to devouring the second in this series!!

When I saw this cover on Netgalley I was intrigued, and after I read the book description I knew I wanted to read this book. I was in need of a good romance novel, so when I was approved to read ‘Something That Could Last’ I couldn’t be more excited. I started reading as fast as possible.

In ‘Something That Could Last’ we meet Abby. Abby’s life has been hard the last view years and she has to work two jobs almost every day to make sure she can finish college and pay for her other expanses. The last thing she needs is the distraction of a guy in her life. Especially since most guys she meets only seem to want one thing. But when Abby meets Jacob she is blown away by him. Not only because he is extremely handsome, but also because he is kind and very chivalrous. But Jacob is not like Abby. Jacob’s family has a lot of money and influence. And how can two people who come from two very different worlds ever work out?

From the moment I started reading, I really loved ‘Something That Could Last’. The two main characters Abby and Jacob were really fun to get to know and I just loved those two. I loved Abby because I could just easily imagine me being friends with her. She works extremely hard, loves her grandmother and brother and just has a very big heart. And Jacob.. well.. He really is a swoon worthy character. Handsome, kind, chivalrous and totally taken with Abby. What I loved most about him was the fact that he was from such a rich family, but was just a normal nice guy and he didn’t want people to like him because of his money.

The romance between Abby and Jacob was just really good. Butterflies in your belly kind of good! I loved every moment between them in this book and I couldn’t stop reading. Although they just met, they both felt that this ‘thing’ between them was much more than they ever imagined. And I could feel every emotion right along with them.

There were also some other characters in this book that I would like to know more about. Abby’s best friend Tiff for one. There is still a lot of mystery about Tiff’s character, and I really hope there will be a story about her too.

And then the ending in this book.. Wow! I started worrying when I read on my kindle that I had only a view minutes left before the book ended. But nothing could prepare me for this ending… I just need to know what will happen next!! It’s such an open and unsatisfying ending! But in a good way! And I just don’t know what to do with myself. When will I be able to read what happens next between Abby and Jacob??

‘Something That Could Last’ is definitely a great, romantic story that I loved from the beginning till end.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I was given Something that could last for free in exchange for an honest review. It started out fine but I got a bit disconnected from the story as I went on. Jacob is a likable character as is Abby but I feel she got a bit whiny in the end and for a such a strong woman fell apart when she needed to be the strongest.

Jacobs attitude at the end sorta got me too. It ends with a cliffhanger and I have to say I’m not sure id read the second one.

Something That Could Last is a debut novel for Author Ashley Cade, and boy does it deliver!
I absolutely loved this book and it's beautiful cover, it was sweet with heat. I really enjoyed the banter between the characters, I found myself laughing out loud at times. If you are looking for a great book, with personable characters I highly recommend this book.
Side note: there is a cliffhanger at the end of this book that has me wanting a second book!

Thank you to Netgalley, Ashley Cade and the Publisher for allowing me to read an amazing book. This is my honest opinion.

Something That Could Last is a really solid debut from a new author. It’s a steamy new adult romance taking place over a 2-week time period during the summer. I thought it was very well written. Abby and Jacob meet when he comes to her town for vacation. They have an instant connection, and proceed to have a brief love affair. They are pretty much opposites, with him being a Senator’s son living a life of privilege and her having a completely different upbringing. I did struggle with the characters in the beginning. I couldn’t connect with them until much later in the book. But, I mostly had a hard time with how fast their relationship progressed. It does take place within 2 weeks, but everything was happening much to quick in my opinion. It does end in a cliffhanger, but it’s not a real shocking or painful cliffhanger. I still plan to pick up book two when it comes out, because I did end up really invested in these characters in the end.

I requested this book to read and review for free. Something that could last was an well written story with a very realistic plot line. This is the first book I have read by Ashley Cade and can't wait to read more books from this author. This story slightly remind me of a modern day Romeo and Juliet but with many more twist and interesting ending. You cant help but fall in love with the characters Jacob and Abby. And find the characters Tiffany and Luke. This for a more mature reader. But when your reading this book you will be fanning yourself at times. If you read the description you think that you might know what is going to happen but I can reassure you that you probably won't. Give this book a try you won't want to put it down.

At first, I wasn't sure what to think about this one. I was immediately drawn by the cover, and the blurb sounded interesting, so I figured, why not. It was slow getting into it, and I almost DNF'd because it was slow going. I'm not usually an insta love kind of girl, and the fact that these two met and fell in love within two weeks. It almost seemed longer than that based on the number of dates the two of them went on. It took me a minute before I realized it was only a two week time frame because of that.

Eventually I started to warm up to the characters of Abby and Jacob. I never really liked Luke, and didn't feel sorry for him when we found out that he fell for a girl who wasn't interested in him. K A R M A. I thought the love between the two characters (once I got to know them a bit better) was sweet, and the fact that they didn't immediately hop into each others' pants helped make it a bit sweeter. There were a few sex scenes (to be expected in a New Adult book) but nothing so graphic that I would be scared to read it at my desk at work. I enjoyed visiting the world of these characters, and was mad when it ended on a cliffhanger. I look forward to the second book in this series.

This book is a good read for fans of Abbi Glines and Colleen Hoover. I can see it being something that our library purchases for our 20 Somethings collection.

This book was pretty much what I thought it would be, so I can't complain too much about the overall story, but the characters were a little flat and my second least favorite romance trope of all time was present which was, "My man loves me so much he hits men who come near me." Granted, at one point it was pretty warranted but cool your jets man, she can take care of herself. I just wish there were more books that didn't glorify that overly violent and protective boyfriend as the pinnacle of being in love. It starts to get old after a while. But I sort of knew what I was getting into with this one, so that's on me. Perfectly fine story, just not the next great.

***I received this novel as an eARC from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.***

I was so excited to get a copy of this book to review. The New Adult genre is currently my obsession. However, not all of the content within it is something that speaks to me. Thankfully, Something That Could Last really hits all the sweet spots for me. Also, appropriate amounts of steam and sexy time.

Abby is a small town girl with plans for the summer. Plan to make some money for college and to take care of her grandmother and keep her head down.

Jacob is on a 2 week vacation from the high expectations in his Senator Son life. He and his best friend, Luke, find a small town and are ready for some adventures. When they decide to do some thrill seeking and go zip lining, they run into Abby and Jacob is instantly attracted to her.

Their attraction is so intense that it scares them, but it didn't scare me. It delighted and excited me. Abby was so sweet, yet she wasn't a push over. This novel is full of sexy consent moments. I love how New Adult has made consent so sexy, really, I mean it. I adore that in a romance and this story was made so much richer for it. Jacob is such a gentleman and compared to his friend Luke, he is a freaking saint.

Its really hard to pick out things that I don't like about this story. There isn't a ton of plot in this one until the last 50 pages or so, but I don't want that to seem like a detriment, I was so into them building their relationship. They are both such cool people and I want more time with them. Which I assume will happen since this had a heart-stopping cliffhanger. Like, I screamed out loud in my Starbucks!

I am sitting here just quietly dying for the sequel.

*There is a trigger warning for sexual assault and regular assault.*

I give this 5 stars, I wasn't expecting to do that, but I just can't think of any reason to knock it.

This book should have been listed as a YA story. The characters were childish and naive. The plot held no interest for me once I got past the first chapter. Someone under 18 may find this an interesting read but it was just too immature for me and boring. Sorry, but I could not even finish it.

First: what a beautiful cover. It caught my eye and I could not resist it.

Abby is a lovely heroine. Living with her grandmother, working to jobs to be able to study. She was quite a character. During one of her jobs she meets Jacob, who is traveling with his friend Luke and is immediately taken by Abby. For two weeks Abby and Jacob have a whirlwind romance, before Jacob has to get back to his own privileged world. There worlds couldn't be further apart. Jacob is the son of a senator and has his life mapped out for him. You can't help but root for these two!

I was a bit miffed to find the book ends on a cliffhanger and there is no date set for a sequel. I did not expect it as it was not mentioned. I do think it is worth the wait, but I wished I had known before requesting.

There is nothing to do but wait for the sequel!

Initially, I was drawn to this book by the gorgeous cover and then the blurb reeled me in. You are immediately thrown into the life of a young woman named Abby who is living with her grandmother, working two jobs and sending herself through college on scholarships and grants. She works hard for everything and has experienced tremendous loss in her life. Abby meets up with Jacob and his friend Luke who are vacationing in West Virginia. Not only does Jacob have money, he is also the son of a prominent politician and lives a life very opposite from Abby's. Even so, they connect and Jacob enjoys spending time with her. She finds out he is a sensitive guy who has experienced loss as well. Also, he hasn't followed the path his parents laid out for him and is pursuing engineering instead of law. He has his own dreams to help people in areas of the world with poor drinking water. He definitely isn't what she would have expected.

Knowing that their time is limited before he leaves to return home, Jacob and Abby spend the majority of the two weeks that he is in West Virginia together. When she is working, he and his friend, Luke do their extreme sports such as white water rafting, etc. There are some other plot lines tucked in the story but I don't want to ruin any of it by sharing too much.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I felt like the title of the book was a perfect description of Jacob and Abby's relationship - - they have "Something That Could Last" -- if they can just make it all work out. That said, there were some places in the book where I, personally, felt like there was too much detail about unimportant things and it caused the book to drag for me a little. However, it wasn't enough to discourage me from reading the story. It is very evident from the way that everything was left unresolved at the end that a followup book is forthcoming. I will definitely look forward to reading it but would tolerate the wait much better if the sequel was mentioned somewhere with at least a tentative date. Basically....Momma needs to know there's gonna be a book two y'all! Come on and help a girl out!!

Jacob, the son of a senator, has had a privileged life for as long as he can remember. He currently attends a top-notch university and nothing short of perfection is expected of him by his parents. Jacob needs a reprieve from the constant pressures put on him so he and his buddy decide to take a 2-week retreat to the Western Virginian mountains. Jacob was expecting a fun vacation with one of his best friends, but he wasn’t expecting to meet an emerald-eyed brunette on his fist day there.

Abby works two jobs during the summer to help pay for her college tuition. Since neither of her parents are in the picture, Abby has relied on herself for years to get by and needs both her jobs if she doesn’t want decades worth of student debt. Being a zip lining tour guide isn’t as exciting as it sounds, but Abby’s day takes a turn for the better when she meets a blue-eyed boy with a beautiful smile.

As fate would have it, Jacob eats dinner at Rosie’s—the restaurant where Abby waitresses. Jacob is completely enamored by Abby’s presence and after a night of drinks and dancing, it’s clear Abby is just as attracted to Jacob as he is to her.

Abby and Jacob couldn’t be more different—they come from two completely opposite worlds—but they fall into a whirlwind romance. Jacob is set to go home in 2-weeks, which only sets the up for heartbreak. But even still, they can’t stop from falling hard, no matter the consequences.

Something That Could Last is Ashley Cade’s premiere new adult romance novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet and steamy romance between Jacob and Abby—they’re both such tender hearted and relatable people, which kept me invested in the outcome of their relationship. This has all the ingredients for a enjoyable new adult romance: college-aged kids who don’t have life figured out, sexual tension galore, angst, and heartbreak. What more could you ask for? The book left off on somewhat of a cliffhanger, so I assume there will be a book two, which I look forward to reading—4/5 stars.

My thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review..
This is a sweet, well written young adult romance. Abby and Jacob are an adorable, passionate couple and I loved the interaction between them: their slow burn romance was worth the wait. Their hikes into the country were a fun read - and that make out scene under the waterfall was definitely steamy! At first, Abby comes across as plucky and very driven. She works two jobs in order to pay for college and is proud of her mixed Cherokee/Italian ancestry. Jacob comes across as a decent guy and their initial attraction turns into something much bigger than either of them could have expected from what they each thought would be a short summer fling.
At the start of this book, I got the impression that Abby was certainly no wilting, inexperienced flower, so that her occasional shyness and tendency to blush during intimate moments towards the end seemed a bit out of character. I actually enjoyed this book, but was dismayed at the end to find a dreaded cliffhanger., and many loose ends left untied. My only spoiler alert is that cell phones, as I have always suspected, are the tool of the devil and we should back up all personal data. I rate this one a 3.9, just because Jacob makes such an attentive book boyfriend. (I hope the author let's us know soon about a sequel.)
