I decided to read this out of morbid curiosity. I can't say I was disappointed because I didn't have high hopes to begin with. This is at best a waste of time, and at worst dangerous. You can't actually recover from bipolar, but you can learn to live with it and have a better life. I'm very skeptical about the 'nuritional' approach. It may help some, but any major lifestyle changes should always be discussed with a doctor first, so keep that in mind if you read this.

"Bipolar Wellness" is an excellent book that gives pragmatic advice as well as inspiration to those affected by bipolar disorder, either firsthand or indirectly.

Great, easy to read book for mental health strategies. Although it’s focused on Bipolar disorder, the information can be used to manage anyone’s life. Also really good resources. Highly recommend!

An important book which I will be spending more time exploring. It is well set out and easy to read, with practical suggestions that are really helpful. I love the inclusion of creativity. I feel this book is valuable in the way it relates to people with bipolar and depressive illnesses and will prompt insights and provide actual help, and is not just an intellectual tome.
Thanks to Netgalley for the complimentary kindle copy. The opinions expressed are my own.

I was diagnosed as bipolar 2 when I was 20, and I've spent a lot of time reading and researching and I enjoyed this book. A few niggles, but it was honest, refreshing and hopeful.

This book was so incredibly helpful. I have bipolar, and since diagnosed have read as much about it as I possibly can. Not many are helpful, and lots are ridiculous and just end up making you feel hopeless. This is one of the best books that I’ve found on the subject. I absolutely loved the “speed chart” and is what I will be using to check where I am and monitor my moods. I finished reading and felt hopeful that with some of these extra tips I might be able to stay in the wellness zone.

I was diagnosed with bipolar II 23 years ago, and I am very familiar with the topic, not just by reading books, regular contact with my psychiatrist and, psychologist but also by reading many scientific documents to help me better understand and coop with this disease. I have been living in the mid-polar zone for years, running a profitable creative business, working as an educator and besides, and perhaps even more critical a happy family life with my wonderfully supportive husband and two teens. So why did I decide to read this book? First of all, out of curiosity because this is one of the few self-help books from an author that has both a bipolar background and is has a degree in psychology.
Bipolar Wellness is the book I wish I had been handed when I was first diagnosed. It's easy to read and, very comprehensive, offering hands down advise for all stages someone with this illness can and will experience. To my surprise, I picked up some great ideas to enhance my wellness.
To name a few:
- I never heard of the benefits of Omega-3, there's very little literature available in the Netherlands, and I will sure handle the research to my doctor.
- Years ago, I had a paper mood chart that I hardly used; now I have the names of some apps that look very promising to keep track of my ups and downs.
- Take more time to be creative just for fun; I will certainly add it to my schedule.

I want to thank Michael Rose, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. This review is my own sincere opinion.

I can not only recommend this book to anyone diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder but also to anyone with a friend or family member suffering from this potentially deathly disease to help them just by better understanding.
