I honestly DNFed this book 30 % in and it was not believable enough for me to keep reading like the characters wasn't speaking to me like they should have.

Taking place in a fae world beneath our own, Raze is a human who gets lured below where he learns more about himself than he has in his 28 years in human society. Unfortunately Raze is a really hard character to like. He's very unsympathetic. And I found it hard to warm to him even once he started turning things around, even though his reasons for lashing out became clearer.
The world building was interesting, although I have say life in the hippy, free love fae world might get a little boring (no swearing or violence--and by that I mean violent outbursts, no raised voices or shouting).
Where this really fell down for me was the romance. The relationship felt forced, it didn't reveal itself naturally, or even hit like an insta-love freight train. I got the feeling it was trying for fated mates but didn't hit the mark. Also considering Raze was being held in fairyland against his will for most of the book, the advances of his 'sponsor' could be considered highly inappropriate.

I was intruiged by the description on netgalley, i truly was. But I just, i could'nt like the Main Character, he was cussing basically every sentence and behaved like a child who didn't get what he wanted. Nothing interested me, at all. i DNF'ed 26%.

A very powerful page-turner that I couldn't put down. I fell for the characters and could relate to them. I highly recommend this to everyone and this book definitely deserves some hype.

i thought this was going to be a neat premise for a book, but it just turned out to be absurd. let's face it, if faeries tried to reform every wayward human they would have a hell of a job on their hands, and it's not really explained why they picked raze.

the society also didn't seem convincing to me - it irritated me that swearing was considered inherently immoral, and it made the whole of the world seem like the satirical Good Place except it was meant in all seriousness. it also seemed incongruous that violence is considered The Worst Thing Ever yet they keep people in dungeons and execution is a thing. like bitch, what? (sorry, just had to throw in a swear in retaliation to this book.)

the MC was also extremely unlikable, which i guess is the point, but the writer could have toned it down a little, jesus. he was 28 but acting like a 16 year old. chillax, have a cigar.

I tried to get into this...I really did. I do like fantasy stories. The writing was definitely different in a good way. It reminded me of a narrator telling the story around a campfire in a way. However, that being said, there was so much detail the pictures were vivid, but that was only in respect to the characters.

The feel for the Fae world introduced in the story I never really grasped enough to picture it in my head. And on top of that, the way the story was told, I expected it to be a bit more high-fantasy than anything. It didn't really match - the writing style and the characters and setting of the story.

I wish I could like this more, but the misalignment in style and character just made this book drag a whole lot for me to actually enjoy it (hence why it took so long to R&R). 2.75 stars.

To me this book was mediocre, with the potential to be something more. I think that the writing style and character/ world building could have been further advanced and as such would have made the characters and the world far more enjoyable. But mostly an in depth background earlier into the story of the characters would have made them more likable and more relatable and readers would also have an understanding as to why he acts the way in which he does.

It was a quick read and kept you intrigued to read through quickly. I loved the fact that the author brought up the importance of helping and caring for others. Also about being accepting of oneself as this spoke to me on a personal level and it is a relatable topic for many as numerous people struggle with this.

The ending was seen miles away and didn't leave much room for a surprise.

For this one i will go with a 3 star rating as it was something nice and quick i read on my daily commute to work. If Readers want a quick easy read then by all means they should give this a go however if readers are like myself that want to get completely engrossed in the story, into the characters lives and into the world in which our beloved characters live then this perhaps isn't the book for them.

I would have liked to see a little more character development to help me connect to the characters a tad more. For something so short I was expecting a lot more detail to be packed in.

I didn't hate this but I didn't really enjoy it much either. I think the problem was I read the description and thought I was going to just get more than did. It's a short story about being accepted and finding a home and love which is sweet. Unfortunately I found it very preachy at times especially with the no swearing rule and a lot of what Rurin says to Raze when he is supposed to be teaching him about the world. The characters also seemed a bit one dimensional to me. There was some development with Raze but I had so little interest that by the time we found out more about his childhood and why he is so negative (and yes mean), I didn't really care. The romance came a bit out of nowhere and wasn't developed properly. The ending was also very predictable and cliché.

The writing was fine, the world she created was interesting and I was quite entertainment in the beginning but with characters I didn't care about and little to no plot I couldn't get invested. If it wasn't for the swearing and the heavy make out session I would have thought this was for a much younger audience such as middle grade/younger range of young adult.

If you just want a short read with some good (if a bit heavy handed) messages about community and caring for others then give it a go.

It's a beautifully written book about acceptance and discovering who you really are. I also liked the fantasy world the author had created.

A light read with fast pacing and a bit of world-building and mythology. There's no deep interaction with the characters really, which would have been nice, but it's a good, fun light read.

Raze has lived in the system his while life. He has never felt a sense of belonging; and to make matters worse, anytime he begins to get comfortable in a home something strange happens that rips him away.

He decides to live the life of a loner, convincing himself that nothing can go wrong if he keeps everyone away. One night when he's driving down the road, a figure appears in front of his car. Startled that he struck someone, he gets out and follows the lights to tumble into another world.

In this world he meets Rurin, a Fae with irresistible and hypnotizing eyes. Rurin tasks himself with showing Raze around this new land as well as a journey of self discovery.

While this book has a great outline of a story, the story takes a backseat to the attempts at world building. Sadly, the world building also goes flat, leaving us with very little story in a world and characters we know almost nothing about. With a splash of romance that felt forced thrown in, I was left wanting more conversation between the two main characters to get to know them on a deeper level.

If you're looking for a light and quick read, this one is for you. But if you want deep character relationships in a world you can understand, skip this one.
