A tense psychological thriller that begins with an attack on a teenaged girl and the ensuing effects on her and her mother’s lives. The story centres mostly on Tessa (the mother) who is in her 50’s and is struggling mentally with how her life has turned out. Although the daughter could not identify the attacker from a police line-up, Tess believes she knows and becomes fixated by the man and begins to hound and stalk him relentlessly. Another main character is a good Samaritan who prevented the attack from being worse than it was who befriends both the daughter and Tess but is seemingly becoming infatuated with them. A very thrilling and exciting read once again by this author.

I struggled a bit with this one unfortunately, the story was good but I found it dragged on a bit. The book starts really promising when a young girl is attacked and her mum decides to take matters into her own hands to find the man that did it. There was a twist however I was expecting something a bit more exciting. I have previously enjoyed books by this author and it certainly hasn't put me off picking up another.

The idea of this story is great but sadly it limped along for me.

Also I found the main character, the mother, so unlikeable and totally unbelievable in her actions that it was a struggle to feel for her.

Not one I would recommend.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

I am sorry but this book for me was just OK. Its a domestic drama surrounding the mother and daughter,. The daughter was attacked late at night and this book is about the mother wanting to bring about justice for her daughter.

I struggled with the characters in this book particularly Tess who I found annoying and wanted to shake her as she couldn’t see what was in front of her
I liked the switch between the 2 main characters but it took me a while to discover who the other one was
The last 2 chapters were the best for me and I thought the book really dragged on at times. It was obvious to the reader who the problem is so why could Tess not see this
Unfortunately I could not connect with the characters in this book at all however that would not stop me reading other books by this author in the future

Reading Stop at Nothing by Tammy Cohen, I felt like the author was using the writing experience to get a lot of issues off her chest. Everything hit Tessa all at once, the assault on her daughter, hitting the big five ‘O’, redundancy, divorce, moving house, the accident, an estranged daughter and the menopause. I almost forgot to mention the obsession with punishing the assailant. However, it was screamingly obvious there was something very unusual in the cloying friendship of Frances and anyone who hands their phone or computer to a third party is frankly asking for trouble. After reading the Acknowledgements it was clear the author had personal knowledge of the impact an assault can have on a family member and the wider family too. ID parades are daunting experiences and the memory a fickle thing. Most people unknowingly understand this after the death of a loved one, they see them everywhere for sometimes several years, admitting a superficial likeness at best.
Perhaps Stop at Nothing would appeal more to female readers but I found it rather slow and at times tedious.

A mother's love knows no bounds and that was certainly the case when Tess's 15 year old daughter Emma was attacked on the way home from a party. Tess's own life is also not going to well at the moment , She has just lost her job and her husband had left her for another woman and she has to look after the elderly parents. We also learn that she is estranged from her eldest daughter and the reader is left wondering why.

Tess is obsessed with finding the perpetrator and when she feels that one of the men in the line up is the attacker she starts to harrass him. Things take a turn for the worst after that.

Love the author's portrayal of the characters and the gripping storyline. Four stars.

Stop at nothing by Tammt Cohen.
Tesla's daughter is attached one night on her way home. She is saved by Frances. But are they? Who have they let in? And who is the person watching?.
A very enjoyable read with some good characters. What a twist. I had an inkling but was shocked with what happened. 5*.

As a mother your most important job is to keep your children safe. Tess’s Youngest daughter Emma is attacked on her way home. Tess feels it’s her responsibility to find the attacker and bring him to justice. Has she found the right man? Or is she making matters worse.

I am conflicted about this one. I've rated it 4 but it's really 3.5 rounded up.

The plot is great! Tessa's daughter Emma is attacked by a man when she gets off the bus and it is stopped by a kind passerby, Frances, who ends up bringing her home and builds a relationship with Tessa and Emma. Tessa is divorced and is still coming to terms with the fact that her husband left her for another woman. She becomes fixated on finding the man who attacked her daughter, going as far as finding out his name, where he lives and looking up his social media profiles.

I don't want to spoil the ending but to me it was pretty obvious where it was going to go and Tessa's fixation on making the attacker pay was a bit long and drawn out. I liked it but I didn't love it.

Tess will stop at nothing to get revenge for her daughter’s attack
I enjoyed the book but I did “guess” what was really happening early in the story. I would recommend the book

Stop At Nothing is a gripping and suspenseful novel, about how a mother deals with the traumatic event of her daughter being attacked one night on her way home.

Tess already has a lot on her plate and the author does a marvellous job at describing these issued from a middle aged woman's point of view.  Work has dried up, she has ageing and sick parents she needs to keep an eye on and is still dealing with the breakdown of her marriage  When we meet Tess she already isn't in a good place. So when Emma, her 16 year old daughter, is attacked on the street walking home from seeing friends, sending them both into a living nightmare, she is at breaking point.

When the police don't seem to be doing enough to catch Emma's attacker, leaving him out there on the streets, possibly to strike again, Tess becomes obsessed on protecting her daughter and getting the man safely locked up so that he can't do it again.  However, when Tess believes she has found out where he lives she takes matters into her own hands and naturally, being a Tammy Cohen novel, it sets of a chain of events that may only cause even more danger than they have already witnessed.

I found this a very tension filled read. Tess' actions become so reactionary that as the reader I just wanted to scream at her to stop and think! Knowing it was only going to do more harm than good. But of course Tess isn't thinking straight and we read on as her actions become even more dangerous.

As always the author brings in a great set of other characters that add wonderfully to the thriller element of the novel and bring in another whole level to the story being told.  The book slows down in parts to explain the other goings on in Tess' life, like her work and family, that not only make you feel sorry for her but help explain her current state of mind and give background to the characters.

With subjects such as social media, family breakdowns, children growing up all thrown into the mix it is a book most certainly based in reality but still with the read of a suspense novel. Making it even more chilling.

I have enjoyed other books by this author particularly When She Was Bad and They All Fall Down and would also recommend her books written as Rachel Rhys which I highly enjoy.

Stop At Nothing is out now!

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Transworld Publishers for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Stop At Nothing is a compelling page-turner that demands to be read in one sitting. A domestic thriller, with a realistic story arc, makes this novel a little different from other books currently on the market. Indeed, with many authors plying their trade in the realm of the unusual, contrived, and somewhat far-fetched scenarios that could only exist in the imagination, Cohen's book is refreshingly relatable. The central question poses by Cohen: how far would you go to protect the ones you love? This the moral dilemma at the heart of the book, and it is a dilemma, that given appropriate circumstances, we might all have to consider. This novel is about the attack on a young girl, and the failure of conventional law and order to bring the perpetrator to justice. It is also about the lengths a protective mother will go to for retribution. It is here Cohen plunges us down the rabbit hole of vigilanteism, a perilous course, with its own intractable moral dilemmas. As such this is a classic morality story with a number of tantalising twists that will keep you guessing and guessing about the eventual outcome of this deftly-woven tale. As a portrait of the unintended consequences of intended actions borne out of love not hate, Stop At Nothing is unrivalled.

Tessa's daughter Em is assaulted late one evening, she fails to pick out a suspect from a line up which leaves Tessa frustrated.
Tessa becomes fixated in finding out who the suspect is and if they'll ever be able to recover and move on.

After not really connecting with “When She Was Bad”, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Tammy Cohen’s latest novel “Stop At Nothing” but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I became invested in the story and found it quite addictive. Although a slow burn and not really a thriller but more of a psychological domestic drama, this builds its pace slowly to a denouement I didn’t see coming. I did work out a lot of the story before the reveal but I enjoyed reading how it all pieced together and kept me turning the pages in anticipation of the conclusion.
The author has created some superb characters, Tess was a typical neurotic, over protective mother who at times did irk me but I liked Emma, her daughter but felt her character could have been a touch more developed. Detective Byrne was also very likeable and seemed very realistic.
This story covers many layers of themes; the menopause, divorce, dementia, caring for the elderly, grief, guilt, insomnia, parenting, social media fears and friendships and altogether these produced a very entertaining and down to earth story.
I understand the story was based loosely on a real life scenario the author experienced with her daughter and as a parent myself could relate to the feelings of protectiveness and the inability to help constructively. It’s a worry whenever your children go out at any age and to discover your daughter has been attacked and the culprit is possibly walking your local streets would frustrate anybody. There’s nothing we wouldn’t do for our families and Tess proves this is her unending conquest to bring justice for the crime committed against her youngest daughter Emma.
“Stop at Nothing” is a very good read with decent protagonists and I’d happily recommend, just beware it is more of a domestic noir than a thriller.
4 stars

I always enjoy Tammys books and have read a fair few now. This was another great book that had your hooked from page one. Fair amount of twists and turns and an ending I didn’t see coming, great read

I absolutely loved this, it totally gripped me with excellently written characters and a exhilarating plot. About the story of a mother with her own demons and an incident with her daughter. A great thriller read.

“Tess has always tried to be a good mother. Of course, there are things she wishes she’d done differently, but doesn’t everyone feel that way? Then Emma, her youngest, is attacked on her way home from a party, plunging them into a living nightmare which only gets worse when the man responsible is set free.
So when Tess sees the attacker in the street near their home, she is forced to take matters into her own hands. But blinded by her need to protect her daughter at any cost, might she end up putting her family in even greater danger? There’s nothing she wouldn’t do to make it right . . . but what if she makes it all worse?”
This was a suspenseful page turner of a read, a real thriller which had me hooked from the first page. The characters were relatable and I felt immersed in the storyline which was fast paced and detailed. A good weekend read.
