Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience

This was a strange book to read with many different and diverse characters and a storyline full of twists and turns. The dead father had a lot to do with many of the twists and turns because of his behaviour towards women when he was alive.
When new neighbours move in across from Phoebe everything changes, some for the better and some irreversible consequences that cannot be stopped.
All of the main characters were deeply flawed and not particularly likeable.

There is some truly delightful writing in this book - the author has such a way with words that I would definitely read more of her work.

This plot was not at all what I expected, because midway through something happens that I did not see coming, and it changes the whole feel of the book.

There is a very limited cast of characters which helps build intensity and tension. However, some of the characters are just horrid. I can't say I particularly identified with them or cared about them but I was certainly intrigued as to how they all fit together. I did guess some of the "secrets" the characters had, and how they were connected, but it is very cleverly done as you do second guess yourself.

One of the major plotlines did feel pretty far fetched but this is thriller/crime fiction so they are never massively realistic and rely on the reader suspending disbelief so that the author can deliver pace and intrigue.

As a debut thriller goes, this is engaging and makes me want to read more.

Thanks to Little Brown/Sphere and Netgalley for access to this eARC.

Had to suspend disbelief in a couple of places but found it an enjoyable read nonetheless. Intriguing characters and enough red herrings and hints to keep me guessing throughout

I found this to be a slow burner until the first twist and then it really picked up pace. It's not the most realistic plot from there but it's gripping. Very interesting ending, although I did see it coming to some extent.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

It took me awhile to get into this and I did wonder if I’d make it through but so glad I did. A really good thriller.

UPDATED REVIEW
I deleted and redownloaded my copy of this novel and it was fine - I'd advise others who have issues with numbers to do the same.
I loved the first half of the book and knew something weird was going to happen but it was not as expected. The second half of the book after "the death" (won't give anything away), just didn't work for me. I found it drawn out and unbelievable and I guessed the ending. However I stuck with the book to the end and would give it 3 stars - glad I read it but not one I would highly recommend

Previous review
I started my eARC of The Other Mrs Miller and found the advance copy is filled with numbers between the words.. I have started to read it but am finding it very difficult. I got so far but have had to put it aside for now. I am really disappointed as I really wanted to read this and was looking forward it to. I will give it another go at another time but the formatting problems are distracting and taken away my enjoyment of the book
My review is 2 stars due to the formatting issues not the book as I haven't finished it

This book sounded great but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the blurb. I thought it was very far fetched and ended up just skimming through it.

While I enjoyed this thriller and was invested enough to continue reading to the end, I didn't find it particularly original and it certainly didn't blow me away. The twist half way through was excellent and unexpected but I then just found the latter part of the book too implausible and I really struggled to suspend my disbelief. A decent enough genre read but not outstanding.

Simply brilliant!
It is everything you can want from a book. It is witty, it is quite a good mystery and it is sad from time to time. I laugh (probably in some really inappropriate places), I cried because of Nadia fate, and the whole book kept me on the edge of my chair all the time. Bonus – it didn’t fail in surprising you all the time till the end. Basically, I had to stop reading the book for a few minutes because of the last mystery unfolding. It hit me like a ton of bricks.
After her wealthy father dies in the middle of a big scandal, Phoebe isolates her in her house. Not having any friends at all, or if she has any – they are all about the money. Gaining weight from staying home and drinking expensive wine. No been intimate with her husband for ages. So you won’t be impressed if I tell you that there is one big, fat depression sneaking around her. But you, like everybody else, will be amused that she actually is able to make friends. When a new family moves in the house opposite, she can’t hide her curiosity. She wants to introduce herself as a pretext of meeting them. So she does. There is a friendship that sparks between her and her new neighbour Vicky. There is an even bigger spark between her and Vicky’s 18-year old son Jake…
Okay, excuse me, I missed the second line. Every day there is a rusty old van on the street in front of Phoebe’s house. She gets so bothered by its appearance, she starts to write down in a notebook the exact time the van shows and goes. But what this van does there? Is somebody watching her? Why? Because of her father? Probably.
How amused everybody is when one day Phoebe shows up, couple of kilos down, skinnier and lean, hand in hand with her husband? Yeah, I know. Strange, isn’t it? Are you wondering what is the reason? Read the book, as I won’t tell you!
It is so tempting to tell you more, but I’ll spoil your experience with this amazing, shocking and unputdownable (yea, it’s my favourite word 😀 ) book. If you’re still not so sure this is your book. It is! Sit and read and you will be glued to the pages and won’t be willing to leave the book for more than 5 minutes or however long you will need to go to the toilet or pick some snacks.

This book felt like two or three different stories by different authors and blended into one. Not keen on the characters and a number of situations were just too far fetched for me to even suspend belief for.

I'm afraid I didn't like this as much as I was hoping to. I really enjoyed the writing style and I will definitely try something by this author again I just didn't enjoy the story.
The first half I just found to be a bit too familiar and I kept feeling like I'd read it before. The second half was slightly better but I just couldn't believe that the characters thought they were going to get away with their decisions and the elaborate plans they all cooked up.
I've read books with all these elements before but for some reason I just didn't gel with this one, but if we all liked the same life would be dull! As I've said though I did enjoy the writing and will definitely try another book by the same author.

This is very much a book of two halves; a slow burning first half followed by a change of pace to a full-on thriller quickstep in the second half.

Phoebe and Nadia are watching each other. Phoebe Miller a tad dissatisfied with her life as only a chief character in a good psychological thriller can be. She has scandal in her past which has led her to be a cautious creature and one who prefers to keep herself to herself. Everything changes for Phoebe when a new family move in across the road.

This probably isn't a book for those readers who are wedded to reality. There were some truly bizarre occurrences that had my rational mind been in play would not have been remotely entertained but as a piece of entertainment The Other Mrs Miller gets full marks.

This was such a good thriller.

I thought that it sounded amazing when I read the blurb, but I was even more shocked reading and it is a fantastic read!!

Suspense was created throughout the novel and I found myself just wanting to race to the end to find out what was happening!

The twist at the end was soo good. I did not see it coming!

I cannot wait for other work by the author!

Loved this!!

Phoebe Miller is a bored housewife, spending days at home, cleaning and baking. Her marriage to Wyatt is on the brink of collapsing. After a scandal revolving around her father, Phoebe finds herself even more isolated from reality, drinking more and more to pass the time. It's then that she notices a car, parked in the neighbourhood, and she has a feeling that whoever it is, they're watching her, so she starts to note down when she's seen the car. Then a new family moves across the street, and Phoebe is interested in them, especially in the Napiers son, Jack. But things start to seem to go out of hand for Phoebe. Do the Napiers have something to hide? Who is the person in the blue sedan?

The book is divided into two parts and I must say that the first part was better than the second one. Firstly it focused on Phoebe and her life and even though she was not a character that I warmed to, I was fascinated with her life, past and present, and the new neighbours seemed truly intriguing. Whereas the second part felt much slower, much too forced and bit unbelievable, and it felt like reading two different stories. It was hard to believe in the characters' actions and honestly, I was not so invested in the plot any more.

The whole stalker idea also didn't seem completely thought over, and as I don't want to spoil your reading I can't say anything more! But it was illogical for me, wanting something from Phoebe but instead of approaching her they wanted to blackmail her, threaten her and maybe even kill her instead of telling who they were.

Phoebe is a complex and complicated character, and not easy too like, she has actually awakened ambivalent feelings in me. I've never warmed to her but I felt sorry for her, although I also think that she put herself in the situation she was living. Yes, I did understand her but I couldn't understand why she simply didn't do anything to have the life she wanted to have - she simply wallowed in her own misery, pitied herself, drinking and eating away at her problems. But altogether I don't think she was a bad person, probably she simply didn't know how to deal with all her problems, the traumatic childhood when most of the time her father didn't acknowledge her existence or labelled her as worthless, and as a result she was living like in a limbo, without hobbies, friends, career, wallowing in her past, convinced that everyone knows who she is and who her father was though the truth may be totally different - people are not aware of who she is, at all.

It was an interesting domestic thriller where events start to roll slowly like a snowball and then take on epidemic proportions of an avalanche. Unexpected and unpredictable and you simply want to know what's going to happen next, though not one to have blown my mind. The end left me, I don't know, confused would be probably an understatement - yes, it surprised me but not in a positive way. Don't get me wrong, please, I did enjoy the book but there were too many things that simply didn't sit well with me, but that's me and maybe you're going to enjoy the book more than I did. And I'm curious what the author will come up with next.

The Other Mrs Miller is a twisty thriller with unlikeable characters that will strangely keep you enthralled all the way through.
Phoebe Miller is bored but very rich, there is a car parked in her road and she really needs to keep an eye on it but although at the start she does, she stops doing so when a new family moves in across the road and the eighteen year old neighbour becomes more than temptation. Fertility problems, marriage problems and father problems are just some things Phoebe has to put up with.
This book is told in two parts and the is told from Phoebes point of view and the woman in the car, this works well for this thriller. I did find that the first part was quite slow going but the second part was fast, thrilling and shocking. I was lucky to have an ARC of this book and due to the way it was formatted I struggle but by the second part it was so good that I managed to ignore the numbers dotted around it.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Little Brown Book Group, Sphere for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
