Sometimes a book comes along and you get the feeling that it will be THE book everyone will be talking about. I get this feeling from this book

I have only read the sampler but it blew me away and I was left wanting more - A lot more. It grips you from the very first line, delivering an original breathtaking concept tbat will ensure parents will never sleep again. .

Thank you for the sampler copy. The Chain went from 0 to 100 in less than three lines! My hands are still shaking, my heart-rate over 90 whilst laying down as I am begging the NetGalley Gods and Goddesses for the full ARC.

This was the quickest three chapters and let me be clear, whilst I have no intention of being part of "The Chain" per say, I MUST READ THE WHOLE BOOK NOW!

I'm generally not the biggest fan of third person narrative and intense dialogue, but the story has already taken me captive and making me want more in less than a couple of pages.

I need to know if Rachel has what it takes to not break The Chain; I need to know what happens to Kylie and I need to know where this story goes.

Watch out, everyone - be vigilant. Remember: "Number one: you are not the first and you will certainly not be the last. Number two: it's not about the money - it's about The Chain".

BRING IT ON! (Meanwhile. I'm breathing in and out of a paper bag to stop the hyperventilation)

Wow wow wow. I’ve been after this book for so long. Even threatening to kidnap the author on Twitter ( jokingly of course) . The sampler is an indication that I was so right and this is going to be a gripping thrill ride of a book. Fingers crossed I am lucky enough to get the book.

Intriguing start, and I am hooked so far! Difficult to review a sampler but if the rest is as good, it will be a great book.

Thank you to Netgalley for an excerpt of The Chain in exchange for an honest review.
Hooked from the first page, I can’t wait to read the rest of this book!
A dark thriller that starts with a kidnap, with an added twist.

Hey, down here! I'm rambling aka raving from the floor where this sampler has left me!

Do you know that feeling you get when you're watching your favourite tv series and the producers decide there should be a mid season break? I am currently working through that feeling, I'm a fish stuck on a big juicy hook.... the hook being The Chain and i'm just there dangling in the water waiting! I NEED MORE!

I can completely understand the wave of excitement for Adrian McKinty's upcoming novel, it's f**king fantastic and you should 110% go and pre-order a copy because although I've only read the sampler I KNOW this is going to be a neck breaking rollercoaster thriller that you're not going to want to miss. The Chain is dark, super dark and yet it is unbelievably realistic in concept. Children are being kidnapped in broad daylight, that isn't only fictionally scary but it's scary because it happens. Children get kidnapped in broad daylight all the time, most of us watch as the events unfold on the 10pm news, but what would you do if it happened to you? This is exactly what Rachel is about to find out, how far will she go to get her daughter Kylie back when she is kidnapped due to the principles of The Chain.

The wave of trepidation entwined into The Chain will engulf you completely into a storyline that will chill your bones and have you hanging on every single word. This original and cleverly written book (well sampler) is taut, fast paced and sharp. The dialogue also sparks several thoughts, including how far would you go to save your child? Would you replace your child with someone else's in a murderous situation? You know that the book is going to be terrifyingly real, especially when the dark web is involved!

The sampler is written from multiple points of views; the child that has been kidnapped and the parents, this allows you to read about the events unfolding from all angles, quite like a terrifying origami swan! I can't wait to get my grabby hands on a copy in July, no plans will be made for publication day! PRE-ORDER!

Also, is it possible to have a book hangover from a sampler, because I'm pretty sure I'm in need of a stiff drink and a lie down!

I received an advanced readers excerpt in exchange for an honest review. This excerpt was very brief but it definitely has gotten me invested in the plot On the basis of what I read, it definitely made me look forward to the books for lease and I’ll be sure to purchase and review if I’m not able to get an ARC. Don’t usually request excerpts but this one sounded so intriguing and it didn’t disappoint. I’ll give it a four-star based on the excerpt with a possible update when I read the actual book.

Now THAT was a hellishly motivated cold call and every parent's nightmare rolled into one - it left me both intrigued and horrified at the same time.

It was like being driven toward the edge of a cliff at great speed not knowing if / when / how the author would accelerate or slam on the brakes, an effect that had me reading wide-eyed and craving more!

A perfectly brilliant taster of an original, heart-stopping concept. LOVED IT.

Wow oh wow oh wow! Firstly navigating past a veritable list of the finest of the fine, all who are good and highly praiseworthy crime and thriller writers, to that spine shivering Schopenhauer quote, the Stevie Nicks lyric and we are there, finally able to read the sampler of 'The Chain' by Adrian McKinty.. What an absolute gift and the biggest of thanks to the wonderful Leanne at Orion for allowing me access to the must-read book of the summer!
I am already terrified.
Plum Island-is that a canny nod to 'The Silence Of The Lams'? This is where 'The Chain' is set, starting with a startling kidnapping of 13 year old Kylie by a man and a woman, who tell her right from the start that whether she lives or dies depends on the actions of her mother.
Whilst Kylie is rolling over in her mind all the kidnapping cases that she can think of where the girl victim survived, we, the readers, can see that these are not professional kidnappers, they are flustered, panicky and out of contorl.
All of this is echoed in a single gunshot.
Building up the tension is the narrative from Kylie's mother ,Rachel, blithely driving to her oncology appt, feeling like there is the tiniest chance that her luck has changed. She is recovering from her divorce, cancer, monetary worries and there is a spark of light at the end of the tunnel.and the Schopenhauer line is echoed in her class plan until she gets a phione call, an annoymous phone call and the bottom falls out her world.
Who are The Chain?
How long has it been going on for, what are its origins?
How will it impact on Rachel and Kylie and will anyone be brave enough to break it?
The only thing I know is that I absolutely, 100% need to know what happens next!!
Utterly enthralling, captured in 'The Chain' by this sampler, I won't be able to escape it's reach, that's for sure!
