Whisper Music was not as interesting as I had expected. I had a hard time following the storyline as two Boston police officers find the body of a man who used to hunt vampires. It just was missing something.

2.5 rating.
This book was confusing from start to finish... during many of the scenes I had no idea what was going on. Nonetheless, it was interesting. Prepare yourself for morally grey vampires, the virgin Mary, and lots of swearing.
Oh and P.S., J.B. Toner does not shy away from sexuality (even though there are no actual sex scenes), so be prepared for some nudity, etc.

In this solid debut novel JB Toner gives us a fantasy novel with a different take on the dark underbelly of society occupied by the oft portrayed vampires. Danyeala Morrigan is a young vampire who was turned by one of the last original vampires. Already a powerful adversary, Danyeala gains a new array of powers when she tastes the blood of the blessed Virgin Mary after an epic battle. Content to unleash hell on Earth, Danyeala suddenly and inexplicably experiences a change of heart after having an encounter with a small town cop named Harry. Harry is doing his best to solve an unusual homicide in which a man had his spine ripped out of his body. Harry and Danyeala’s worlds intersect and Harry finds himself finding out the vampires are real and they walk among us. He joins a group of vampire hunters and Danyeala finds herself caught in between the two groups faced with a choice. Embrace her true nature or try and salvage whatever good still lives within her.
This novel has a different tale in the standard vampire fantasy novel, and the author captures some really intriguing, beautiful imagery. It is a short novel, and it does a good job of closing out the story in a relatively small number of pages. Worth the attention for fans of of the genre. Novel supplied by Netgalley.

Whisper Music had a interesting plot but I did struggle through this book. The ending might anger some, I felt unconnected to this book and it was so to the characters.
